Thank you for the comments
cruefan68 I could not resist Albano getting his after the match. The fans went home happy after watching Albano’s feet stomping and arms spinning while suffering in the Strangler’s finisher.
Nick_Nuke I feel the same way about the Gordy v. Rude match up as well
Terry Gordy (17) v. Rick Rude (48) w/Jimmy Hart These two know each other well from their time spent battling in the same rings in Texas. Rude takes a few minutes to show the fans what a real man looks like before the bell and the fans respond with classic old school heat. The action is hard hitting and closely contested early on. Gordy breaks out with a power attack and stomps leading to a powerbomb (ch) for a near fall (R4/P2). A running lariat from Gordy turns Rude inside out and sends the action to the floor. Rude is selling like crazy. Gordy wins that brawl and then plants Rude with a PILEDRIVER for a two count (R7/P5). Gordy keeps the pressure on following Rude to the floor and running him face first into the rails. Rude is busted open and Gordy is out in the first round via disqualification in the first upset of the tournament. Back to back disqualifications have many fans frustrated. Long-time followers of this event settle in knowing more controversy is likely to follow.
Next Match . . .. Jimmy Snuka (16) v. Masked Superstar (49) w/Mr. Fuji

Just started reading this tournament, great so far...I would think Rude or Gordy losing would be a first round upset. Another tough matchup next, my gut goes with Masked Superstar.

Excellent stuff so far. Bummer how Gordy/Rude ended since that action was so good leading up to the DQ. Maybe things would have been different if Rude had Heenan in his corner instead of Jimmy Hart. Next match, my vote is going to Snuka.

Great match between Rude and Grody. Next match, I'm going with the Masked Superstar with help from Fuji.

Rude and Gordy was great. I was pulling for Gordy but the DQ took him out of it. I'm going with Jimmy Snuka in the next bout.

Thank you Count Necros spaceman Nick_Nuke and cruefan68 for the feedback and pics. Interesting that the pics were two each so it appears there is no real favourite heading into the next bout. I thought Rude and Gordy was a good match but I was hoping for more from the bout. The ending was a disappointment. Jimmy Snuka (16) v. Masked Superstar (49) w/Mr. Fuji The Superfly is out to a monster pop and he takes several minutes to greet his fans on the way to the ring. They trade holds in the ring and Superstar traps Snuka in a sleeper that forces the action to the floor. Outside, Snuka gets the best of Superstar and the fans love it. Back inside, Snuka nails a powerslam that forces Superstar to bail. Snuka leaps onto Superstar at ringside but Superstar catches Snuka and rams him into the ringpost back first. The spot is impressive but costly as the referee decides to disqualify Superstar. Four bouts, three disqualifications. The fans are not pleased. Could this be the year of disqualification? Up next . . . Rob Van Dam (9) w/Bill Alfonso v. Abraham Lincoln (56)

The year of the DQ? I hope not but so far it is looking that way. Snuka advances which is cool. Next bout is amazing with "Mr. 420" vs. "Mr. Four score and seven years ago"! I like RVD but I am actually pulling for Lincoln to move on to the next round.

Just getting caught up on the action... Really enjoyed Andre vs. Spivey (no big surprise there) and Gordy vs. Rude was an intense match...
Very happy to see Snuka move forward, despite another DQ finish... Rooting for RVD to advance...
Great fun!

The Snuka/Superstar match mirrors my LOW fed where they are feuding over the California title trading DQs.
RVD vs Abe. The thought just blows my mind...
