RAGE FC "Blizzard Bash" - Saturday 2/28/15
(Video of Dayton Hara Arena as it snows outside and fans wait to get in)
MARK – Despite the threat of a potential blizzard, wrestling fans have bundled up and ventured to Dayton's Hara Arena for RAGE FC Week 3, nicknamed “Blizzard Bash”
(We come inside Dayton Hara Arena)
MARK – Good evening everyone, and welcome to Week 3 of RAGE FC here on Fox Sports 1. Mark Lowrance alongside the architect of the Road Warriors and our color commentator, Paul Ellering.... PAUL – That's right Mark, Precious Paul here to pontificate on all that the wrestling fans need to know as only Precious Paul can.....(smiles) MARK (Laughing) – OK.....let's talk about what we've seen so far. What has surprised you so far? PAUL – Two things come to mind. One, Rob Van Dam hasn't won yet. Two, a large, athletic, dominant superstar such as the Overmaster has had trouble winning. It just shows you how deep the talent pool here is at RAGE FC. MARK – Tonight, the final push to get into the title matches next week. PAUL – Looking at the ratings sheet that RAGE FC has provided me, let's break this down. Realistically, the top five ladies have a realistic chance to make the title match. You have Mildred Burke and Jessicka Havoc with 18 points each, then you have Wendi Richter, Awesome Kong, and Neveah with 10 points each, so depending on how the matchups turn out, it would not surprise me to see the Knockouts title match be contested among more than two ladies. Now to Infinity, you have Alex Colon, Jushin Liger, Joker, and Ray Rosas within 6 points of each other, that too will be interesting to watch play out. In Unlimited, you have five fighters within eight points of each other, they being Bobo Brazil, Buddy Rogers, Eddie Kingston, Scott Norton, and Claudio Castagnoli. If I'm in any of these fights, I'm going for the knockout to distance myself as far as possible from other competitors. MARK – Well said indeed. As always, we have kickoff matches before we come on the air, and our first fighter up for possible elimination was Courtney Rush. Did she survive? Let's find out.
(Highlight reel begins rolling)
MARK - Heidi Lovelace D. LuFisto at 9:42 with the Frog Splash in a 5-star match PAUL – A fantastic match beginning to end. Heidi had LuFisto down and out early, LuFisto comes back and they just beat each other to death. Excellent opening match! MARK - Sherri Martel D. Courtney Rush at 1:40 with the Top Rope Splash – Due to a string of poor performances, Courtney Rush has been eliminated from the Active Roster PAUL – Courtney just unable to get anything going against Sherri, and we say goodbye to her for now. MARK - BLK Jeez D. Tiger Mask at 5:41 with BLK Jesus Walks PAUL - Even, back and forth match MARK - Eddie Edwards D. Roderick Strong by DQ at 2:45 when Strong was DQ'd outside the ring for ignoring referee's instructions PAUL – This one got pretty heated real quick. With these two being old rivals, that was not surprising MARK - In an enormous upset, Big Sue Jackson wins by KO over Nick Bockwinkel at 3:54 with the Hip Atttack PAUL – Big Sue not taking kindly to Nick's taking him lightly, and as a result, not only does Nick not get in any offense, he gets carried out of the ring for it as well. MARK - Aethran Overmaster D. Rob Van Dam by DQ at 56 seconds when RVD is DQ'd outside the ring for ignoring referee's instructions. PAUL – Overmaster using his mind this time to frustrate RVD and get him off his game, something you rarely see from Rob.
MARK – A lot of talk about the main event between Bobo Brazil and Buddy Rogers, a couple of time-tested veterans, Amber Gertner, how are they feeling? AMBER (in back of arena) – Well Mark, neither one of them would talk to me, but talk in the locker room is that either one could win this match. If Buddy establishes holds and locks, he takes it, and if Bobo can start landing the Coco Butt, it goes in his favor. They both would tell me that they are both ready for this match. Back to you. MARK – Thanks Amber. And since Amber is tied up backstage, Paul Ellering does the honors to kick off our first match, and here we go.
NEVEAH V. SARA DEL RAY
It was back and forth for the first minute or so, then Neveah took control with a charging forearm in the corner. Neveah shakes off a headbutt and hits a snap suplex for a near fall. WENDI RICHTER V. AWESOME KONG
Wendi took this one outside quickly and had Kong busted open with a table to the head. After a Richter Bomb for a near fall, they went outside again, and although Kong returned the favor, Wendi was not bleeding. An enraged Kong took over with suplexes and body shots that crumpled Wendi. Kong hit a running forearm in the corner. Wendi managed to send Kong to the ropes, only to be kicked in the face on the rebound. Kong with an Implant Buster for a near fall. Kong with a backfist and a choke slam for another near fall. Kong crumples Wendi with body shots for another near fall. Kong with another backfist and a press slam and another near fall. They end up outside the ring again, where Joker flattens Ray and throws him back into the ring. Joker hits back to back Cambo Wizards and a Joker Driver and gets the pin at 12:52
EDDIE KINGSTON VS SCOTT NORTON
Scott immediately tries to establish his power with a corner whip, but when he charges, Eddie moves and Scott flies to the outside. Eddie meets Scott on the floor and is sent to the guardrail. Scott hits a chokeslam and a jawbreaker, but Eddie grabs the ropes on the pin attempt. On the restart, Eddie sends Scott to the corner, then hammers Scott with punches. Eddie follows with a lariat. MARK – An excellent card! PAUL – An excellent card indeed! A ton of great matches, only one injury, and the fans were on their feet for most of the night. Great job RAGE FC! MARK - Paul, have to interrupt you here, we're getting word of a brawl going on backstage, Amber, what can you tell us about it? AMBER – Mark, from what I'm hearing it seems that Rob Van Dam was extremely upset over his DQ loss to the Overmaster, and they've been having to keep them apart.....
(Rob Van Dam and Aethran Overmaster come crashing through a nearby door)
After some brief brawling backstage, RVD and Overmaster fight their way to the ring. Overmaster throws RVD all over the place. Overmaster hits Reign Of The Overmaster, but RVD gets PO'd and superkicks Overmaster. RVD with the Five Star Frog Splash, and as he sets up for the Van Terminator, Overmaster leaves the ring as security separates the two. Crowd chants “Let Them Fight”
MARK – As we try to restore order, we want to invite you to join us next week for March Meltdown, but until then, for Paul, Amber, and the entire RAGE FC crew, I'm Mark Lowrance. Good night everybody!
(Another week of RAGE FC is in the books, and your questions and comments are always welcome. RVD seems unable to maintain control. In two of his losses, he was in control until the match went outside the ring, then he got himself disqualified. He could lose his roster spot if he loses again. He's next to last in the Unlimited ratings and has a tall mountain to climb in his next opponent, who replaces Nick Bockwinkel. He howls at the moon every now and then, know what I mean?
Sara Del Ray is doing pretty well, she's currently ranked #4 in the Knockouts division.
It shocked the H---- out of me when Big Sue Jackson not only pinned Nick Bockwinkel, but put him out of action too.
Stick around, it's about time to post next week's big March Meltdown card.

RAGE FC "MARCH MELTDOWN - SATURDAY 3/8/15
We kick off March Meltdown by looking at highlights from the RAGE FC Press Conference earlier today)
REPORTER – Jessicka Havok, how do you feel about facing Mildred Burke tonight? JESSICKA HAVOK – Ask her how she feels about facing me, the Death Machine! Tonight, Mildred Burke becomes the latest in a long line of victims!
REPORTER – Buddy Rogers, you face Scott Norton tonight. Are you ready? BUDDY ROGERS – Am I ready? You dare ask Buddy Rogers if he's ready? I am THE Original Nature Boy! Women want me, Men fear me, and that includes Scott Norton. Tonight, I'll take down Scott Norton. Why? Because to a nicer guy, it couldn't happen!
REPORTER – Rob Van Dam, tough start to your RAGE career. Now one more loss and you could be gone. How do you feel? ROB VAN DAM – Dude! It's cool! I've beaten tougher men before, and that includes others pretending to be animals...... (Wolf walks up and RVD stands up to greet him face to face) WOLF – Pretend? Children pretend! Wolves hunt and prey........hello lunchmeat! (RVD and Wolf are separated by security)
REPORTER – Joker, you face a legend in Jushin Thunder Liger tonight for the Infinity title. JOKER – You know, it fits......because I'm going to send Liger to infinity and beyond
(Opening montage of highlights from the previous weeks of RAGE FC competition begins)
MARK LOWRANCE – It's known as Dayton Hara Arena, or to the locals, just Hara. It's hosted hockey, basketball, Hamvention, and going back to the late 60s with the Detroit-based Big Time Wrestling promotion, wrestling. WCW, WWE, and ECW have all ran here as well. Tonight, a different kind of wrestling comes to Dayton, and RAGE Fight Club owner Spike wouldn't have it any other way SPIKE (Dressed in a suit and lightly tinted glasses) – I have over 200 fighters on my roster, and they earn their spots on the active roster. Some of it is luck, the rest is up to them. I told every one of them, if you're here to primp, preen, and cut long-winded promos, then get out, but if you're here to fight hard and entertain the fans BY fighting hard, then I want you here. MARK – And fight hard has been the mantra here at RAGE. Two weeks ago at Winter Wasteland, a total of seven fighters on the active roster were laid up with injuries, including The Grappler (footage of him being led out of the ring with assistance) and the legendary Nick Bockwinkel (footage of him being stretchered out is shown). PAUL ELLERING – Tonight it all comes down to the titles. In the Knockouts division, the Death Machine, Jessicka Havok, will take on the always tough Mildred Burke (live footage shown of each warming up). The Infinity division, Jushin Liger and Joker have survived the carnage of two weeks ago to both remain undefeated, and tonight their showdown will bring one of them the championship. And, in our Main Event, the Original Nature Boy, Buddy Rogers, takes on a wrecking machine in his own right, Scott “Flash” Norton (live footage is shown of Buddy Rogers seated, deep in thought, and Scott Norton warming up with dumbbells) for the Unlimited Championship. MARK – It's RAGE FC, it's on Fox Prime Time, and it's NEXT!
(We go inside Hara Arena, where torches are set off on the runway to the ring and the crowd gives a large pop.)
MARK – It's called Renegades, Athletes, and Gladiators Extreme Fight Club, or RAGE FC for short, just one of the ways Spike has tried to be different. We welcome you to RAGE FC on FOX, I'm Mark Lowrance alongside Paul Ellering. Paul, it's come down to this, three big matches to coronate RAGE FC's first titleholders. PAUL – That's right Mark, in the Knockouts Division you've got the killer mentality of Jessicka Havok taking on the raw-boned, hard-nosed veteran in Mildred Burke. Over in Infinty division, the legendary Jushin Liger takes on the street-tough Joker, but it is the Unlimited division that holds the most intrigue for me. On one side you've got the Original Nature Boy, Buddy Rogers, the suave, sophisticated ladies man and technical wrestling genius against over 300 pounds of smashmouth wrecking power in Scott Norton. That one to me can go either direction. MARK – And speaking of our main event, Amber Gertner is backstage right now with Scott Norton. Amber? AMBER – Thanks Mark. Scott Norton, Buddy Rogers said earlier that you fear him, and he's going to take you down. What do you say? SCOTT NORTON – Amber, do I look afraid? Yeah, he might be a better wrestler, but that ain't gonna help him when 340 pounds of fury is making him ugly one punch at a time. He'd better BUY some ladies, because no self-respecting woman will want anything to do with him after tonight! (Buddy Rogers comes out of nowhere and jumps on Scott Norton, who throws him off with ease. Buddy pops right back up but security steps in as the two argue) AMBER – Guys, I'd better get out of here before this gets ugly, so back to you MARK – You can tell both of them are ready for this PAUL – Yes they are MARK – As always, we start off with kickoff matches between our lower-ranked contenders as they try to work their way onto the live show, so to speak, and we had some great action and a couple of debuts PAUL – Let's get to that, shall we?
MARK – The debuting Penny Banner d. LuFisto at 6:14 with the Boston Crab PAUL – Another good showing by LuFisto, but once again just not good enough, as Penny survives LuFisto's initial onslaught at the beginning and turns it around for the win MARK – Heidi Lovelace d. Neveah at 2:19 with the Frog Splash PAUL – Neveah gets in no offense whatsoever, and Heidi gets the win after the third of three Frog Splashes MARK – Roderick Strong d. Tiger Mask at 2:11 with End Of Heartache PAUL – Tiger no match for Roderick here, making excellent use of his array of backbreakers and dominating from beginning to end MARK – Bryan Danielson d. Eddie Edwards at 4:12 with the Labell Lock PAUL – Eddie taking the early lead with strikes, but Bryan waiting for an opening, and once he got it, his submission offense began taking its toll on Eddie. The Labell Lock sealed the win MARK – Then Paul, we got to watch one of the great entrances in wrestling as RAGE FC fans welcomed the debut of an all time great........
(Spotlights shine on the entrance. A wolf howl is heard and crowd pops, then “Too Late For Love (Def Leppard)” blares over the loudspeakers. Wolf appears in the entranceway, flanked by two Siberian Huskies. Major pop for Wolf as fans sing along to the music)
PAUL – You see Rob Van Dam while all of this was going on, focused intently on Wolf, knowing if he lost he could be gone (Highlights roll). Rob seemed to channel the intensity he had been letting run wild in previous appearances and took it to Wolf, here late in the match Wolf sends RVD violently into the guardrail and Wolf manhandling the referee a little too much for his liking, drawing the DQ. Wolf attacked RVD after the match and security was forced to separate them. It was ugly, but RVD finally got his first win via DQ at 2:48. Not a great start for Wolf, but fans glad to see him and his huskies back too. MARK – The surprising Big Sue Jackson d. Mike Graham at 2:56 with a senton PAUL – Big Sue fired up after knocking out Nick Bockwinkel last week, really putting it to Mike Graham this week with a lot of power, and Mike not able to get in any offense whatsoever.
MARK – Paul, are you ready? PAUL – I'm always ready MARK – The fans are ready, are YOU ready? It's time to feel the RAGE, as we go to Amber Gertner for our first match
WENDI RICHTER V. SHERRI MARTEL Wendi starts strong, flooring Sherri with a shoulder tackle, then sending her to the corner for a running clothesline. Another corner whip and Wendi lands a running forearm. A suplex and a body slam, and Wendi scores a near fall. Wendi hits the Richter Bomb, and Sherri grabs the ropes on the pin attempt. Wendi resumes control on the restart with a corner whip, and Sherri greets her with an elbow. Sherri uses the ropes on a pin attempt, then rakes the eyes. An infuriated Wendi suplexes Sherri hard. Wendi sends the match outside and introduces Sherri's head to the guardrail. Back in the ring, Wendi locks the Backbreaker in on Sherri, and after some struggle, Sherri taps out. Time of the match 3:56
RAY ROSAS V. BLK JEEZ Early back and forth, then Rosas establishes control with a corner whip and punches. A spear staggers Jeez, and an Ego Trip brings him down. Rosas hits a flying shoulderblock. Rosas tries a second one, but misses, crashes, and burns. Jeez with a double dragon kick, a suplex, and a corner whip with a running forearm. A thumb to the eye infuriates Rosas, who hits a quick Smash And Dash to take over. Rosas hits Crazy Train and another Ego Trip, and Jeez is down. Jeez turns an attempted hurracanrana into a rope whip and hits a running forearm. Jeez sends Rosas to the opposite corner for another running forearm. Jeez with a Tornado DDT for a near fall. They fight outside the ring, where Jeez slams Rosas' head into a table and takes control. Another dropkick by Jeez, and Rosas is visibly hurt. Jeez hits the 11th Commandment, then follows up with BLK Jeez Walks for the win at 9:36
EDDIE KINGSTON V. AETHRAN OVERMASTER Overmaster establishes immediate control with a series of power moves, followed by a series of headbutts that have Kingston reeling. Overmaster hits a spinning gourdbuster then sends Kingston outside. Kingston surprises Overmaster with a hard whip into the guardrail and promptly gets DQ'd for pushing past the referee to get at Overmaster. Time of the match 1:53
AWESOME KONG V. SARA DEL RAY Kong dominates immediately with a gorilla press slam, a toss across the ring, and an implant buster. Kong hits a suplex and an Awesome Bomb for a near fall. Time 2:20
MARK – Well, we've had some great action thus far, but this is what we're here for, it's time to decide the initial titleholders for RAGE FC. PAUL – Spike putting in some definitive rules for tonight's title matches to ensure a winner in each one. They are 30-minute time limit, two falls or a knockout to decide the winner, deciding fall must be won by pin, submission, knockout, or blood loss inside the ring only to win the title, and finally, any fall that ends in a double disqualification will render the match a no-contest MARK – There you see Spike in a box suite above the arena, we're told he's with the ratings committee in case they're needed, and they will make any final decisions necessary. Let's get it started.
TO DECIDE THE FIRST RAGE FC KNOCKOUTS CHAMPION
MILDRED BURKE V. JESSICKA HAVOK At the onset Havok hits triple kicks on Burke and sends her outside. As Havok comes through the ropes, Burke clocks her with a right and knocks her backward. Burke with a headscissors for a possible submission but Havok escapes. Burke with a Sunset Flip for a near fall. Showing a mean streak, Burke sends Havok outside and introduces her head to the guardrail. Burke with a flying knee back in the ring, then another Sunset Flip for a near fall. They end up outside again and the brawl is on. As the referee intervenes, Burke becomes a little too rough and draws the DQ to give the first fall to Havok at 3:05
MARK – Havok takes the first fall PAUL – Now Havok needs to score a victory in the ring and not by DQ to win the title, and Burke has her reeling already.

Not a great way for RVD to score his first victory, but a win is a win... And he needed one... Congrats to Liger and 'The Original Nature Boy' on becoming the first title holders in the RAGE FC... Solid stuff and lots of energy! Yes he did, and he got it thanks to Wolf's exuberance. But he's still in it. I also cleaned up my comments a little bit so you can see what happened in the Knockouts title match. I posted this late last night and I was half asleep. LOL
