RAGE FC "COLLISION COURSE" - SATURDAY 4/4/15
(As “Lose Yourself” begins, we hear voiceover from Mark Lowrance)
MARK LOWRANCE – What does it mean to be a champion? For World Knockouts Champion Jessicka Havok, it has meant dominating the competition up to this point. But there is one fighter that she squeaked by due to an inadvertent collision with a referee in their first match. Would she still be champion if that not had happened? Awesome Kong says she would be champion and is anxious to prove it. Havok says it would not have mattered, as she still would have prevailed. Which one is better? They'll settle that issue tonight.
For World Infinity Champion Jushin Liger, it has meant near flawless performances, on the way to a perfect 7-0 record. Roderick Strong stands as his next challenger. Can Liger remain perfect, or will the Strong Era begin.
And for the Aethran Overmaster, it means having to defend the World Unlimited Championship against the man he won it from last week, Claudio Castagnoli. Claudio got off to a great start against the Overmaster, but was unable to capitalize. Can the Overmaster retain the title, or does Claudio regain what he once held? All these answers tonight, on RAGE FC, and it's next!
(Aerial view of University Of Dayton Arena)
MARK – You're looking straight north up I-75 at University Of Dayton Arena, backdropped by the Gem City itself, Dayton, OH. Both exits jammed in both directions as they're still coming in for RAGE FIGHT CLUB Spring Stampede, on Fox Sports 1
(We come inside the arena)
MARK – Hello again everyone and welcome to RAGE FC on Fox. Mark Lowrance as always alongside the orator of pertinent pontifications himself, Precious Paul Ellering
PAUL – Well said if I do say so myself, Mark (laughs)
MARK – As the weather warms up outside the competition heats up in RAGE, especially in the Unlimited Division, where y0u have at least six fighters in striking distance of a title shot.
PAUL – So true, Mark, while Jessicka Havok and Jushin Liger have dominated their divisions, the Unlimited division has seen three champions so far. If Overmaster gets by Claudio tonight, he's got former champion Buddy Rogers waiting, as well as Scott Norton, Bobo Brazil, and even Rob Van Dam is making a case after a slow start.
MARK – But in order to get to the title matches, we have to get through the contenders as well and we've got some excellent matches on the card tonight.
PAUL – We start with Penny Banner and Wendi Richter, which should be tremendous. Another battle of wildmen will see Joker take on Sami Callahan, and the brawler Bobo Brazil will try to bring down the high flyer Rob Van Dam. Also, Sara Del Ray collides with Sherri Martel, Delirious faces Eddie Edwards, and Buddy Rogers faces the man he defeated to become the first Unlimited champion, Scott Norton. As always, we warm up the fans with kickoff matches between our lower ranked contenders, so let's get to highlights of those right now
MARK – Cheerleader Melissa D. LuFisto at 5:33 with the Kudoh Driver
PAUL – LuFisto seemed to be fighting from behind for most of the match, toward the end she started to string together some offense, but one mistake on a rope whip cost her
MARK – Neveah D. Heidi Lovelace at 10:55 with the guillotine choke
PAUL – Hard fought match by both fighters that could have gone either way, Neveah surprises Heidi with the choke and sinks it in good to get the win
MARK – In a battle of returning fighters, Soldier Ant D. Evan Lewis at 7:44 with Ant Goes Marching
PAUL – Another tough battle between two evenly matched fighters, it would be the second attempt at Ant Goes Marching that wins the match for Soldier Ant
MARK – Hayabusa D. Tiger Mask via Disqualification at 6:32
PAUL – Bizarre turn of events here, Tiger sends Hayabusa to the corner and crushes the ref on a corner charge, wiping him out, during that time Hayabusa drew even in the match, then when the ref comes to, he DQ's Tiger Mask. Two matches between these two and two bizarre finishes.
MARK – For the second week in a row, Jon Moxley D. Wolf, this time due to disqualification at 6:03
PAUL – This was a gutter fight from the beginning that spent most of its time outside the ring. During the third of three out of the ring brawls, Wolf once again gets too physical and draws the DQ, but that's not enough as he attacks Jon after the match, and security and other fighters are forced to pull them apart, and it's obvious they want to do it again. Depending on how things turn out this week, they may get that chance.
MARK – Finally, Eddie Kingston D. Sue Jackson at 2:59 with a rollup
PAUL – Big Sue gets off to a great start, shakes off a table attack, eats a couple suplexes and keeps coming, he happens to miss Eddie on a corner charge and Eddie hits the schoolboy for the win
MARK – Right now we have Amber Gertner backstage with one of our championship contenders tonight.....Amber?
AMBER GERTNER (Standing next to Awesome Kong) – Thanks Mark. Awesome Kong, it seemed like you were on your way to winning your first match and then controversy struck
AWESOME KONG – Amber, it's like this.....(Havok appears)
JESSICKA HAVOK – It's like this, Amber. The inevitable was delayed a short time, because Yours Truly won the match
AMBER – So you didn't run into the referee on purpose?
HAVOK – Who said that?
KONG – I think you did......
(Havok and Kong get nose to nose and have to be pulled apart by security)
AMBER – The two greatest forces in the Knockouts division and they'll collide later. Back to you guys
MARK – That should be a great one. Paul, are you ready?
PAUL – I'm always ready!
MARK – I'm ready, and we hope you're ready, because it's time to FEEL THE RAGE!

WINNER AND STILL RAGE FC WORLD UNLIMITED CHAMPION – AETHRAN OVERMASTER
MARK – Whew! Another night of carnage here in RAGE
PAUL – I'm beginning to wonder what it will take to beat the Overmaster. Hats off to Claudio, he kicked out of Reign Of The Overmaster and kept right on coming even after one overhead toss after another. He's getting helped out of the ring (cut to live footage) and he's complaining of internal injuries, so we'll see. I'm betting he's on the shelf for a time.
MARK – Penny Banner and Wendi Richter about destroyed each other in their brawl earlier, they'll both be out
PAUL – Don't forget Havok, after being backfisted and powerbombed by Awesome Kong, she was knocked out. When she came to she complained of everything around her spinning
MARK – Finally Buddy Rogers draws a suspension for attacking a referee, we're not sure how long, but we'll have all the details on this and our other casualties next week. For Paul Ellering, Amber Gertner, and the entire team of RAGE, I'm Mark Lowrance. Good Night Everybody!
