WWA presents Atlanta #3.55
The Omni; Atlanta
....We will fill the National tag team title vacancy as the semis & finals are tonight....Also, Tommy Rich & Ted Dibiase go one on one....Let's go to the ring....---We open the show as
'Iron Man' blares out over the PA, signaling the arrival of the
Road Warriors. The
Rock-n-Roll Express put up a great fight as Ricky Morton is somehow able to get a shoulder up after the DOMMSDAY DEVICE. However, Robert Gibson is not so lucky and eats a second DDD to sent Hawk/Animal to the finals.
---
Miracle Violence Connection dominated their match with the
Midnight Express but
King Kong Bundy/One Man Gang get involved.
Jim Cornette provides the distraction as Bundy/Gang hit running ringpost splashes on both Williams & Gordy. MX quickly capitalize, hitting the ROCKET LAUNCHER on Williams to advance to the finals.
---Our first singles match of the evening sees
The Patriot def.
Butcher Vachon w/ the PATRIOT MISSILE.
Mad Dog is out afterwards as The Vachons stomp a mud hole in the Patriot before
2 Cold Scorpio is out to make the save.
---
Tracy Smothers def.
Masked Superstar, winning w/ a Slingshot Dropkick. Superstar dominated early, appearing to load his mask on several occasions but could not put Smothers away. The ref found the 'foreign object' and threatened to DQ Superstar. Superstar turned into the Slingshot Dropkick by Smothers for the finish.
---Huge matchup between
Tommy Rich and
Ted Dibiase as both are vying for a shot at
Blackjack Mulligan. Great overall match that saw Dibiase stay one step ahead of the referee, blasting Rick w/ the LOADED GLOVE twice. Rich was able to mount a comeback, getting a nearfall w/ the THESZ PRESS. As the two were slugging it out, the aforementioned Mulligan hit the ring and dropped both men with his title belt, causing a NO CONTEST to be declared.
Later on in the week, WWA officials announced Mulligan would defend against both Rich & Dibiase in an
Elimination Match at the next show.
---Our
Main Event sees the
Road Warriors battle the
Midnight Express for the vacant
National tag team titles. An awesome match that went almost 30-minutes. The two managers kept things interesting, distracting the referee and the other team to give their team the upper hand. The Roadies kept trying to haul MX up for the DOOMSDAY DEVICE but
Jim Cornette would distract the referee, allowing the other MX member to interrupt the move. MX gave as good as they got, keeping their opponents off balance w/ Eaton's quickness & Condrey working over Hawk's lumbar area.
Cornette &
Paul Ellering went at it at on the floor as the crowd cheered on the melee....anytime Cornette is getting his behind whipped, the crowd loves it. However, as the referee gets between the two, Cornette signals to the back and out charges the
Missing Link! Cornette extends the melee, allowing Link to blast both Roadies w/ a steel chair as they had Condrey up for the DDD!! Eaton/Condrey take advantage, hitting the ROCKET LAUNCHER for the finish to win the vacant titles!!
Cornette looks like he's won the lottery as the referee presents the belts to MX. However, his celebration is short-lived as Hawk/Animal recover, charging the ring. Cornette/MX bail, leaving Missing Link to take the DDD as MX runs up the aisle.
