Upon reading 2124 did anybody else get the sense that the Wolf/Monolith "Fatal Showdown" comes across as an afterthought? To me Wolf seems a bit insignificant all of a sudden.
I know Wolf is leaving after this year, but I kinda think this could and should be the end, period. With the colorful cast of youngsters that Tom has put together, I personally can't envision getting excited about yet another comeback 5 years or more down the line. Any thoughts?

I'm sorry ahead of time to Jim, but if Wolf left today and never came back I would have no problem with it. Hes so overdone and I don't like how he can live past all these other classic characters in the game, He has been there since the beginning! come on!

I wouldn't bring age into it. Then your getting into that whole race/age issue again.
It's like D&D or any game in which elves are involved. Elves have always been considered the longest living being in the land. Therefore their "peak" age is longer than that of a human. Matter of fact, every race has a longer life span to a human.
Unfortunately, parameters were never set as to how long a given race lives. But I guess it is safe to say that an Andromedan lives pretty long.

Andromedans do live a long life (Swarm's probably in his 40s since his son is debuting and yet he's in his prime), and in addition Wolf is simply a unique character and one of Tom's all time favorites. I don't worry about it and I like the fact that I could do whatever I wanted with him and it would make sense.

Shouldn't the animal thing have the opposite effect? I mean my dog has animal blood and I don't expect him to live as long as me.
This is a joke, of course. I don't mind the age thing for the AniMen. The only issue I have is that, AniMen, on the whole, seem to have average length careers. So they CAN wrestle longer and choose not to. I doesn't say much for their overall dedication to the GWF. Hey, I wouldn't mind seeing a Mandrill return.
I just think that Wolf's situation in 2124 feels a little desperate. Monolith and Sly Drury have so many more interesting angles on their plates. Even though the Wolf situation is a part of those, and in some ways enhances them, I think for Wolf, it seems second-tier. I think there's very little left for him that would be fresh. Even 5 years from now, I think I'd rather see Sly, Rush, Patch, or Anivar headlining the top feud than for Wolf to suddenly show up and get involved.
As a fan, I find myself rooting for Monolith here. At least he's going to be a around and give us fresh angles to build on.

It does feel that Wolf has moved into the Undertaker territory in the new set, but I have a feeling that he will still have big things ahead of him.

Let's be honest here does anyone see Wolf even making this close? I am seeing 15-0 for Monolith. I may play to see how long this lasts.
In my fed I had Malkuth ask Wolf to come back and tag with him because the tag title is the only title Wolf hasn't won. I expect him to get it and then drop it and leave my fed. Like the kid who I got hooked on GWF, purplesteve6 said, its time for other stars as there is much more interesting stories there. Sorry Jim, it's gonna be ok

Ok, here's my take... please don't destroy the message board!
When I found out Wolf was coming back two summers ago, I liked the reasoning used for him to come back. Monolith is arguably one of the most talented out-of-the-gate wrestlers in the GWF ever! How cool is it that one wrestler made such an impact that one of the greatest GWF legends of all time came back to challenge him? Monolith vs. Wolf made sense for both characters, and it put them both over. If Wolf won that feud, it would solidify him as a legend to both players who loved him in the first GWF series (2087 and beyond) and to those players who did not experience him before New Beginnings (2119 ans beyond). If Monolith won that feud, then he gets over as someone who took out a legitimate GWF legend, and it makes him even stronger as a character.
I remember at that Galacticon discussing Wolf's return, and the anaolgy I made at that time was that this was either going to end up being a Shawn Michaels 2002 comeback or a Road Warriors 1998 comeback. At best, Wolf would come back stronger than ever and able to keep pace with his peers. At worst, he would come off awkwardly and would struggle to keep pace the other wrestlers.
As far as Wolf's leaving in 2125, I hope that he stays. His character is amazing, and for him to come back for three years just to be an independent wrester and do nothing else would be something I see as a disappointment. There are already a current crop of independent wrestlers out there, so he really wasn't breaking any new ground in doing that. Rather than seeing him in the same role he's always had, I was hoping that he would step up to a position of leadership for either the Hero or Independent factions. I wanted to see that because Wolf reminds me of a Clint Eastwood type character from the westerns. If you were to watch "The Outlaw Josey Wales", I can see becoming a leader in that manner. He doesn't want to be a leader, but there was no one else who could lead these people but him. That transition to leadership could have made a great storyline for Wolf, in my opinion.
But if he does leave in 2125, he better win his Fatal Showdown with Monolith. If he does win it, he goes out on a high note, furthers his legend, and leaves as someone who made a positive impact on the GWF in 2124. If he doesn't win it, I don't want to see him come back to the GWF ever again. I hope he does win, because I don't want to remember him as the guy Monolith drove out of the GWF. But that is up to the dice, the promoters and Tom, not me, so we'll see what happens.
