Capitol City Wrestling January 2, 1982 Baltimore, MD Baltimore Arena Card #1
-Capitol City Heavyweight Title tournament-
-First Round-
1) One Man Gang beat "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka by disqualification @ 8:45.
Early in the match, Gang went for a splash in the corner and Snuka alertly stepped aside. Instead ref, Phillip Haas hit the deck. After a few minutes of fists and kicks an new official was back in but had little effect on the rulebreaking. Snuka began to chop away on the big man outside the ring and pushed aside official, Barney Forus who called for the bell.
2) "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol beat Greg "The Hammer" Valentine (w/"Sensational" Sherri Martel) with the Las Vegas Leglock @ 13:01
A great match that almost went the 15 minute time limit. Idol was able to combat Martel's interference when he planted a huge kiss on her that sent her down off the apron. Valentine missed an elbow and was caught with one of Idol's instead. He hit a chop block and then sinched in his patented figure four to advance after Valentine's attempts to reverse the hold failed.
3) Larry Zbyszko pinned "Dr.Death" Steve Williams after Williams hit the turnbuckle minus the pad @ 9:35.
Zbyszko pulled the upset of the night and he used his usual cheating tactics to do it. He didn't get much offense in but he did remove the pad on the corner buckle. Williams charged in after a buckle whip and Zbyszko moved while Williams landed face first into the steel. Larry "Legend" quickly cradled him up and but two feet on the ropes for good measure.
4) Ox Baker pinned Chief Wahoo McDainel with the Heart Punch @ 6:42.
Baker used several power moves to get the Indian in position to be layed out by his potent Heart punch.
5) "Magnificent" Muraco beat Ted DiBiase with the Hawiian Hammer @ 11:07.
A very even contest with many near falls. Muraco reversed a whip off the ropes and then caught DiBiase with a neckbreaker. He quickly scooped him up and landed the reverse piledriver to gain the win.
6) The Destroyer defeated "Crippler" Ray Stevens with the Figure Four Leglock @ 10:45.
Stevens missed an attempted Bombs Away leap to try and end the match and the masked man went into his toehold and then figure four combo to which Stevens conceded. But he did not let go and his partner, Masked Superstar ran into the ring and dropped three big elbows on the prone Destroyer. He then executed three Corkscrew Neckbreakers before security ran them off. Destroyer looked to be in bad shape.
*Destroyer is injured 4 fight cards
7) Barry Windham pinned "Cowboy" Bob Orton with the Sweetwater Superplex @ 5:55.
Windham dominated the action and finally put away the Cowboy with his own pet hold.
8) Iron Sheik (w/Oliver Humperdink) beat "Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin with the Loaded Boot @ 7:52.
Humperdink provided the distraction as Garvin's fists looked ready to put the Sheik away. This gave Sheik time to load up his curled boot and then plant it in Garvin's throat.

Capitol City Wrestling January 3, 1982 Baltimore,MD Baltimore Arena Card #2
-Capitol City Heavyweight Title Tournament-
-Quarterfinals-
1) "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol beat One Man Gang with a Sleeper @ 6:51.
Idol ducked several wild shots by the larger Gang and slowly wore him down. He jumped off the buckle and onto his back and locked in a sleeper hold. Gang slowly went to a knee and then to the ground and was out.
2) Larry Zbyszko defeated Ox Baker by disqualification @ 7:01
This was an interesting match between the two rulebreakers. Zbyszko grabbed the mic and first tried to bribe Baker but when that didn't work he insulted him instead. The match soon went to the floor and Baker went wild. He used a chair on the legend and shoved the official to the concrete. The call was an easy one.
"Magnificent" Muraco received a bye into the next round.
3) Barry Windham defeated Iron Sheik (w/Oliver Humperdink) with a Flying Lariat @ 5:22.
Windham surprised the former Olympic star and outwrestled him the entire match. Humperdink didn't even have time to try and interfere after the huge lariat knocked his man out.
-Semi Finals-
4) Larry Zbyszko defeated "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol with a Spinning back kick @ 11:32.
Zbyszko was up to his usual cheating tactics but Idol refused to go down easily. Idol was cut open by one of Zbyszko's objects but he still fought on. But, finally a karate kick put him away for good.
5) Barry Windham defeated "Magnificent" Muraco with a Bulldog @ 2:03.
Muraco joked and laughed about being so fresh due to his bye. He should have been paying more attention to his opponent because Windham continued his hot streak and caught Muraco with a Bulldog off the ropes to get a quick victory.
-Finals-
6) Barry Windham beat Larry Zbyszko with a Bulldog @ 13:21 to capture the title.
Windham was simply on fire and would not be denied even a surprise interference attempt by Don Muraco didn't help Zbyszko's cause. Muraco was escorted back and it was Windham taking to the air again with a Bulldog that gave him the win and the title!

-First Round-
1) The Red Menace (Nikolai Volkoff & Ivan Koloff) (w/Oliver Humperdink) defeated "Mr.USA" Tony Atlas & S.D. Jones when Koloff pinned Jones after a Top rope kneedrop @ 8:01

2) The Fantastics (Tommy Rogers & Bobby Fulton) beat "Magnificent" Muraco & "Cowboy" Bob Orton jr. by Disqualification @ 14:51.
Muraco and Orton grew weary of the constant high flying tactics and as the ref was bumped to the mat they double teamed both men. Rogers was tossed to the floor but Fulton was tied into the ropes and Orton fired away with an object to his forehead. A small gash was opened up and luckily the ref rang the bell. Rogers leapt back in with a chair and chased the heels to the back. Fulton was bloody but not badly hurt.
3) "Crippler" Ray Stevens & Masked Superstar beat "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan & Bob Roop when Stevens pinned Duggan after a Crippling Piledriver @ 10:24.
Stevens and Superstar worked well as a team. They were able to counter the styles of Roop and Duggan fairly well. All four were in the ring and as Superstar tossed Roop to the concrete he nailed Duggan low setting him up for the Piledriver and the win.
4) Ted DiBiase & "Dr.Death" Steve Williams beat Greg "The Hammer" Valentine & "Handsome" Jimmy Valiant (w/Sherri Martel) when DiBiase pinned Valiant with a Loaded Glove @ 7:33.

A thrilling match that saw the boys from California land the major upset.

A match that could have gone either way. The ref was down but all four battled, Williams and Stevens were on the floor. DiBiase went for his loaded glove but Superstar already stuffed a piece of metal in his mask and landed a Head Butt. DiBiase fell back and Superstar collected the three as the ref came to.
-Finals-
7) The Fantastics beat "Crippler" Ray Stevens & Masked Superstar when Bobby Fulton executed a Rolling Cradle on Stevens to win the championship @ 26:02.
The Fantastics Cinderella run continues. They looked out of the match at several points but Fulton surprised Stevens off a whip and rolled him up as the fans were overjoyed as they held the title high.

Capitol City Championship Wrestling January 16, 1982 Annapolis,MD Alumni Hall Card #4
TV - Capitol Superstars
*Lance Russell welcomes the crowd to the first edition of Capitol Superstars and first he'd like to bring in the man who proudly holds the Capitol City Heavyweight Title, Barry Windham.
The crowd pops as Windham is out in a leather jacket holding the belt. He shakes hands with Russell. Lance says how happy he is that a man of such integrity like Windham is the first holder of this belt and he congratulates him on his tournament victories. Windham is humble and thanks the fans and Lance Russell.
Suddenly, Larry Zbyszko hits the scene. He runs down Russell for his backhanded remarks and points a finger right at Windham. "We have a match tonight Spud Head. I won't let you get away with so much blatant cheating this time around and that hunk of gold will be all mine." Windham stood his ground as Russell tried to usher Zbyszko off to get to the first match.
1) "Exotic" Adrian Street (w/Miss Linda) defeated Brad Armstrong with the Crucifix @ 11:01.
A slow methodical match between the two with plenty of mat wrestling. Armstrong missed a dropkick attempt which left him open for Street's finisher.
*Masked Superstar and Ray Stevens are out at the podium with Lance Russell. Lance wastes no time in asking about the Superstar's recent attack on The Destroyer. Superstar calmly explains that the Destroyer deserved it. "And there's more where that came from. I am ready to prove to everyone that I am the greatest masked wrestler ever to step into a ring. If Destroyer would just admit to me and the world what everyone knows to be true, that I am the best then I'll leave him be. It's as simple as that.
Russell mumbles about how that'll never happen. But Superstar quickly adds, that if he plays it brave he's going to be very, very sorry. What I gave you two weeks ago was just a small taste of what I'm capable of. Don't push me!"
2) The Red Menace (Nikolai Volkoff & Ivan Koloff) (w/Oliver Humperdink) defeated Ted DiBiase & "Dr.Death" Steve Williams when Volkoff pinned Williams with a Backbreaker Drop @ 2:22.
A quick unexpected victory for the big Russians. All four men were battling in the ring early on as the ref had little control. Humperdink tossed white powder in Williams eyes and Volkoff scooped him up and got the pin.
*Lance Russell is with the new tag team champions, The Fantastics. But before he can congratulate them Oliver Humperdink is already over by the podium with a contract in hand. "I want to be the first to challenge you two punks and I want to do it on national television. Next week. I know and you know that you got lucky in that tournament but your luck is about to run out. Sign on the dotted line.
Bobby Fulton says that they'd be happy to but he needs to see the contract to sign it. Fulton grabs the paper and quickly slaps Humperdink to the ground. "We accept. Take that back to your two Russians. We'll be ready for them again."
3) Ronnie Garvin beat Ox Baker by Countout @ 7:53 when Garvin used a Hand of Stone and Baker fell off the apron and fell through a ringside table.
Garvin was able to stick and move around the larger Baker. He landed a few chops and as Ox was trying to regroup outside the ropes Garvin nailed him in the forehead. Baker fell back and was out cold as landed through a wooden table. The ref reached ten and Baker had to be helped to the back.
*Lance Russell is now with Commissioner Jon Massif. Massif has big news. There is one more title left to fill in Capitol City and that's the Maryland State Heavyweight Title. There will be one more tournament and that will be on January 25 in Ocean City, Maryland at the Convention Center. Pairings will be announced very soon. Please stay tuned.
-CCW Heavyweight Title Match- 4) Barry Windham (c) defeated Larry Zbyszko with the Flying Lariat @ 9:44.
Windham was very impressive and didn't let Zbyszko use his normal stall tactics. He put him away with the Lariat.

Capitol City Championship Wrestling January 23, 1982 Washington D.C. DC Armory Card #5
TV - Capitol Superstars
*Lance Russell welcomes the fans but before he can say much he's quickly interrupted by Oliver Humperdink and his Russians, Ivan Koloff and Nikolai Volkoff. Humperdink starts off calmly but is soon beet red as he mentions the indignity of having Bobby Fulton put his greasy hands on him. Ivan Koloff takes the mic to let Humperdink cool down. Koloff mentions that the road to Moscow is paved in gold and the he and his comrade will not only avenge Humperdink but put Fulton in the hospital.
Lance tries to lead them away but reminds the fans that they will get their chance in today's main event.
1) "Mr. USA" Tony Atlas beat "Butcher" Vachon with the Gorilla Press @ 9:01.
Vachon proved to be a tough customer and the brawny Atlas had a tougher time with him than expected.
*Austin Idol is out at the podium with Lance Russell. Idol appears in a good mood and is joking and laughing with the host. But on the scene is Sherri Martel backed up by one of her men , "Handsome" Jimmy Valiant. Martel is screeching about Idol's advances towards her and she demands that he stop sending her notes and flowers. Idol looks confused. He says that he's sorry that he layed a wet one on her back at the championship tournament but the arena was dark and now up close he realizes just how ugly she really is. Martel is beside herself and Valiant attacks and tosses Idol into the ring for an impromptu match.
2) "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol beat "Handsome" Jimmy Valiant (w/Sherri Martel) with the Las Vegas Leglock @ 11:45.
Idol was simply too strong for Valiant but that didn't stop Martel from trying to interfere. As Valiant was down she climbed the buckle but Idol caught her and threw her on top of Handsome Jimmy. He then kisses her again and smacks her backside as he tosses he from the ring. He then locks in his version of the Figure-Four and the match is history.
*"Superfly" Jimmy Snuka is out with Lance Russell. Russell is overjoyed that Snuka is here and hopes that he will get his chance to maybe even wear some gold in this territory. Snuka is humble and quiet but his mood changes as "Magnificent" Muraco steps out to the podium. Muraco tries to make peace right away. "I know that we've had some battles in the past but I want you to know that I have other things on my mind right now and I just want to shake your hand and tell you something face to face." Snuka is hesitant but Muraco reassures him. As the two shake, Muraco says, "I knew that you were always a stupid, ignorant island monkey."
With that "Cowboy" Bob Orton rushes in with a coconut shot across Snuka's face. Snuka is down as both men pound away on him. Security helps break it up as they go to commercial.
3) The Destroyer beat Masked Superstar by Disqualification @ 13:23.
Superstar threw a ton of offense at the Destroyer and he took tremendous amounts of punishment but he held strong. He started to rally but as he tried to take the match to the floor Superstar landed a chair shot to his face. The ref called for the bell but that didn't stop him. He kicked away until "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan was out, 2 by 4 in hand to clear the scene.
*Jon Massif is out with Lance Russell and mentions that he has another announcement. The final belt that will be defended in Capitol City will be the Maryland State Heavyweight Title. There will be a tournament in the near future and after meeting with the championship board and here are the pairings.
Austin Idol v. Ox Baker Jimmy Snuka v. Greg Valentine Hacksaw Duggan v. Iron Sheik Ted DiBiase v. Adrian Street
-TV Main Event- Capitol City Tag Team Title Match- 4) The Fantastics (c) beat The Red Menace (w/Oliver Humperdink) by Disqualification @ 8:35.
The speed of the champions began to frustrate the larger Russian duo. Koloff put a stop to that when he used his chain and beat Fulton in the face with it. The ref was right on top of it and called for the bell. The four continued to fight and Rogers brought in a ringside bell to even the odds as the cameras faded.

THE RUSSELL REPORT w/ LANCE RUSSELL
*"Hey Everybody! Here are just some of the latest happenings in Capitol City Wrestling. In just a short time the action has been fast and furious."
*I am appalled at the actions of Cowboy Bob Orton Jr. and Don Muraco as they brutally attacked and humiliated Jimmy Snuka. I guess their feud from the past hasn't been settled at all and I expect an explosive situation when these two meet in the ring.
*The tournament to determine the Maryland State Heavyweight Champion will be February 1st in Ocean City, Maryland.
*Another rivalry that is gaining steam is between two of the greatest masked wrestlers in the sport. Masked Superstar and The Destroyer met last time with Destroyer getting the win by disqualification.
*Austin Idol is clearly getting the best of Sherri Martel and her men. She is claiming that there is nothing else going on here and that she just wants some revenge as Idol has now planted two kisses on her in public. We will see.
*Barry Windham and The Fantastics will have their hands full as opponents start lining up to get a crack at their belts.
*Next TV taping- 1/30/82 and the CCW goes on the road 2/9/82 in Westminister,MD.
