Capitol City Championship Wrestling January 30, 1982 Falls Church, VA Falls Church Auditorium Card #6
TV - Capitol Superstars
*Lance Russell opens the program and tells the fans that we have a dandy for you today. Barry Windham defends his heavyweight title against Adrian Street in your TV Main Event. There will also be several other challenge matches on today's card. We also have information on the Maryland State Heavyweight Tournament and a potentially big announcement coming within the next month. It all happens here in Capitol City Wrestling!
1) Greg "The Hammer" Valentine (w/Sherri Martel) beat Bob Roop by Disqualification @ 8:03.
A slow paced match as both men moved methodically about the ring. Valentine hit his bread and butter elbow drop but could only get a two count. Later on the outside Martel had slipped Valentine a metal object that he used to Roop's throat. Roop was able to turn the tide and steall the object away. He chased Valentine back in the ring and used it in front of the official and he called for the bell. Valentine rolled out hands raised high with his tainted win.
*Lance Russell interviews Greg Valentine and Sherri Martel. Russell tries to question Valentine about his illegal tactics but he just brushes him off. Instead Valentine wants to talk about Austin Idol. Oddly enough at the mention of his name Martel gets a bit starry eyed. Valentine is in a frenzy and hardly notices but Russell does. He questions her about it and she seemed anxious to know when Valentine will be in the ring against Idol next.
2) "Cowboy" Bob Orton Jr. defeated Wahoo McDainel with the Superplex @ 4:25.
Orton had things under control and hardly let Wahoo muster any offense. He got the win with his patented finisher.
*Jon Massif is out with Lance Russell. They review the MD State Title tournament set for February 1st and there first House show in Westminster on February 9th. An uninvited guest shows up in The Iron Sheik along with Oliver Humperdink. Sheik is unintelligable and livid that Barry Windham is ducking him like a coward. Humperdink concurs and orders Massif to give them a title shot. Massif says he doesn't react well to threats but he does say that he will give Iron Sheik a match in Westminster against a picked opponent and if he wins then he'll get his match. Sheik laughs and continues to flex and pose as the camera goes black.
3) "Hacksaw" Duggan & The Destroyer fought "Crippler" Ray Stevens and Masked Superstar to a Double Disqualification @ 10:55.
A wild brawl that went to the floor and was thrown out quickly by the ref as neither team cared to listen or adhere to the rules.
-TV Main Event- CCW Title Match- 4) Barry Windham (c) defeated "Exotic" Adrian Street (w/Miss Linda) @ 7:45 with the Sweetwater Superplex.
A surprisingly easy match as the larger Windham overwhelmed the bizarre Street.

Maryland State Heavyweight Title Tournament Card #7
-First Round-
1) "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol beat Ox Baker @ 11:04 with a Double Noggin as Jimmy Valiant ran down to interfere.
Idol was in command most of the match. He used superior speed to keep Ox off balance. Idol landed a series of rights and then a piledriver which could only muster a two count. "Handsome" Jimmy Valiant ran to the ring and jumped on the apron. Idol alertly ducked a right hand and then rammed Valiant's head into Baker's. Valiant fell to the floor and Baker to the mat. Idol hooked the leg to advance.
2) "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka beat Greg "The Hammer" Valentine (w/Sherri Martel) @ 8:45 when Martel was tossed into Valentine and Snuka hit his Superfly Leap.
Valentine attacked Snuka before the bell and was almost able to gain a quick win but Snuka got to the ropes as the Figure Four was applied. Snuka rallied with head butts and power slams. Martel panics and goes to the top buckle but Snuka grabs her and tosses her into Valentine. She rolls out of the ring and Snuka comes crashing onto Valentine's chest with his Superfly Leap.
3) Iron Sheik (w/Oliver Humperdink) defeated "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan @ 5:55 with the Camel Clutch.
The Sheik clearly outwrestled the big Patriot. But he also used his loaded boot to stop any attempt at a comeback. Finally Sheik wrenched back with the dreaded Camel Clutch to move on.
4) Ted DiBiase beat "Exotic" Adrian Street (w/Miss Linda) @ 6:11 with the Figure Four Leglock.
Street's mind games didn't work on the vet DiBiase. Once on a roll he battered the Brit around the ring and then got the submission victory.
-Special Attraction- 5) "Dr.Death" Steve Williams defeated One Man Gang @ 1:40 with the Oklahoma Stampede.
Williams is off the a slow start in CCW but he was out with a purpose tonight and dominated the action and picked up the huge Gang and planted him into the mat in an impressive display of strength.
Semi-Finals
6) "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka beat "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol with a Flying Headbutt @ 14:01 when Sherri Martel distracted Idol.
A quick handshake from these two fan favorites and the match was on. Both men match up well but it was the surprise ringside visit of Sherri Martel who appeared to be flirting with Idol. Idol was a bit taken aback and let his guard down. Snuka shot himself off the ropes and leveled Idol with the Flying Headbutt for the win. Martel smiled and walked back to the dressing room.
7) Iron Sheik (w/Oliver Humperdink) beat Ted DiBiase with a Boston Crab @ 12:30.
Sheik had been attacking the back of DiBiase most of the match and it became a soft spot. DiBiase came back but Humperdink tripped him without the ref seeing and the Arabian slapped on a Boston Crab and layed back. DiBiase was forced to tap out to the pain.
-Finals-
8) "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka beat Iron Sheik (w/Oliver Humperdink) with the Superfly Leap @ 26:21 to capture the title.
Iron Sheik refused a rest period and grab the mic and ordered Snuka to come to the ring. Snuka was ready and ran down to meet Sheik. An intense battle between two great competitors. Late in the match Snuka ducked aside and hit a huge Power Slam and then landed his Superfly Leap to win the title.

THE RUSSELL REPORT w/ LANCE RUSSELL as of 2/8/82 * "Hey everybody and welcome to the Russell Report as I give you my take on what's going on in Capitol City Wrestling." * Congratulations to "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka as he captured the Maryland State Heavyweight Title. I'm proud to call him champion and heck in fact I'm proud that all our our champions here in CCW, Bobby Fulton, Tommy Rogers and Barry Windham are all fine examples of hard work and determination. *Strange situation developing as it appears that Sherri Martel has become smitten with "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol. Will she attempt to manage him? And what about the current members of her stable, Greg Valentine and Jimmy Valiant, what's their opinion of the situation? Stay tuned fans. *The Iron Sheik recently faced the WWF champion Bob Backlund in a special challenge match and oddly enough it was Backlund who was disqualified as he lost his cool. So I wonder if that means the Sheik gets his match with Barry Windham? *The tag team scene is heating up and the CCW tag champions The Fantastics have had their hands full with the Russians but, Masked Superstar and Ray Stevens, Sherri's team of Valiant and Valentine and even Ted DiBiase & Steve Williams could be waiting in the wings to take the gold. *More news to speak of as CCW plans for it's first supercard on March 7th. It's called BIG CITY NIGHTS. Be prepared for some big announcements and special appearances. *Next TV tapings - 2/13 and 2/20

Card #9
TV - Capitol Superstars
*Lance Russell opens the show and brings out Austin Idol. Russell wonders just what exactly seems to be going on between him and Sherri Martel. Idol appears somewhat embarrassed and just says that he anxious to meet again sometime. With that a large red envelope is brought out and given to Russell by one of the stage hands addressed to Idol. He takes it and then opens it and reads it. A wry smile comes across his face and he shakes his head. When Russell asks him what it is he just says, "A gentleman never tells." He then leaves. Russell then announces today's television Main Event which pits the Maryland State Heavyweight champion, "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka against the Masked Superstar. This and much more coming up.
1) "Exotic" Adrian Street (w/Miss Linda) Drew with Bob Roop @ 15:00.
Both men were evenly matched througout the contest and both had several pin attempts but neither man could notch victory.
*Iron Sheik and Oliver Humperdink rush out to the podium and demand Jon Massif appear before them. Both are irate that the Sheik isn't getting his title shot here on today's show. Massif makes his way out and tells Humperdink to check his fine print. It said if the Iron Sheik either pinned or made his opponent submit in the match. He won by Disqualification so he gets nothing. Iron Sheik laughs and then claims how the CCW is protecting Barry Windham and calls him a "weak Ameri-can". He says that Windham wouldn't have the guts to face him anyway. This brings Windham out dressed in street clothes to defend his honor. He says that his schedule is clear and he'll be happy to get the Sheik in the ring. Sheik calls him a liar and spits in Windham's face! Windham is enraged and the too engage in a pull apart brawl as they roll around on the studio floor security is called in to break up the melee.
2) "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan pinned Larry Zbyszko with a Flying Spear @ 2:05.
Duggan strung a few power moves together and finished Zbyszko off with his leaping Spear much to the delight of the crowd.
*Lance Russell announces that next week Barry Windham will defend against the Iron Sheik on televison and that should be a fantastic match. He also says that the CCW is looking ahead to a huge night of wrestling on March 7th called "BIG CITY NIGHTS". Stay tuned for more information right here.
3) "Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin & Brad Armstrong upset "Magnificent" Muraco & "Cowboy" Bob Orton Jr. when Armstrong pinned Orton with the Russian Leg Sweep after Jimmy Snuka distracted Orton as he walked over to ringside @ 8:33.
Muraco and Orton looked like a well oiled machine until Jimmy Snuka walked out. He distracted Orton so much that he didn't see Garvin's tag and Armstrong quickly grabbed him and hit his finsiher. Three seconds later and Snuka left smiling as the fans cheered wildly.
*Lance Russell says that Austin Idol has asked to come back out here and that he has a special Valentine's Day announcement in store but first he has to go to the ring. Russell is dumbfounded but begins to realize what's going on once Sherri Martel shows up. She is wearing a red dress with a plunging neckline and she joins Idol in the ring. He spins her around and is ready to lay another kiss on her but she stops him and tells him to close his eyes. He obliges and Martel pulls out a red handbag and smashes him in the face with it! She then dumps out what appears to be broken concrete and Idol is out cold. Greg Valentine and Jimmy Valiant both hit the scene and Valiant kicks away at Idol's right ankle. This sets up Valentine's Figure Four Leglock as he grabs on the ropes for leverage. Idol is motionless. Soon Jim Duggan, Brad Armstrong and other fan favorites clear the ring but the damage has been done.
*Austin Idol is out 4 cards
-Maryland State Heavyweight Title Match- 4) "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka pinned Masked Superstar with the Superfly Leap @ 6:55.
Snuka rebounded after a head butt and went to the top rope and hit his finisher. As soon as the ref hit three Don Muraco and Bob Orton Jr. were both in the ring kicking away on Snuka. They went for a double clothesline but Snuka ducked and hit clotheslines of his own on each man. As Superstar recovered to join the heels, Snuka had renforcements of his own show up as The Destroyer and Brad Armstrong had his back.

Card #10
TV- Capitol Superstars
*Lance Russell introduces the show and he is immediately interrupted by Sherri Martel and her men Greg Valentine and Jimmy Valiant who are each smirking. Russell makes a comment and Martel grabs the mic. She orders everyone to shut up and says that what she has to say is only directed at one man. The man that humiliated her many weeks ago and he paid for that humiliation with a hospital bed. If he was smart, which she says he certainly isn't because otherwise he would have seen through her plan all along. But Idol is too arrogant for his own good and that's why I knew it work. Now that I've proven that I'm someone that shouldn't be tangled with my men get their shot at the tag team belts tonight against the Fantastics. Boys and I do mean boys I really don't think you can measure up to the competition tonight! After they leave Russell also add that they have one other title match slated for tonight as Barry Windham defends against the Iron Sheik. Should be a hot one tonight!
1) "Dr.Death" Steve Williams beat Larry Zbyszko with the Oklahoma Stampede @ 10:34.
This was a rematch scheduled from the CCW tournament last month. Williams was upset in this match and he appeared focused enough that he wouldn't let that happen again. Zbyszko had some close calls but couldn't stay away from Williams' power. A stiff Lariat and then the huge powerslam gained the three count. But after his hand was raised his tossed Zbyszko over the top rope and kicked away at him and then delivered the Stampede through the ringside table! Zbyszko looked hurt as Ted DiBiase came out to hold his partner back as medical officials looked after the Living Lengend. Williams was agitated but left with DiBiase.
*Larry Zbyszko is out for 6 cards
*Lance Russell is at ringside and he is joined by Ted DiBiase. Russell mentions that he's a bit shocked with Williams behavior. DiBiase said that Steve has been a little frustrated lately and has vowed to be more aggressive. Russell thinks maybe he went a bit overboard. DiBiase though defended his partner and said that he's just fighting fire with fire. DiBiase says he has to go and ready himself for the next match.
2) Ted DiBiase and One Man Gang wrestled to a Double Disqualification @ 6:55 as they fought outside the ring and did not heed the ref's instructions.
Quite a brawl that spilled to the floor a few times. Once back in DiBiase slipped aside and Gang crashed into the buckle. DiBiase landed a Fist drop and then applied the Figure Four Leglock but Gang grabbed the ropes and rolled to the floor. DiBiase followed and soon out came Gang's tag partner Ox Baker. Just as he was out Steve Williams was out too and soon it was a pier six between all four men. Williams was able to chase the heels off with a ringside chair.
*Jon Massif is out with Lance Russell and they talk about the huge card on March 7th Big City Nights. The venue is yet to be chosen but they do have a huge announcement for that card. Just watch the monitor.
NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION RIC FLAIR !
He will defend the belt on March 7th.
-CCW Tag Team Title Match- 3) The Fantastics (c) beat Greg "The Hammer" Valentine & "Handsome" Jimmy Valiant (w/Sherri Martel) when Tommy Rogers pinned Valentine with a Sunset Flip @ 11:34.
The champions were much too quick and polished to be in too much trouble here. They used a variety of double team moves and Rogers flew off the ropes and used the flip to retain the gold.
-CCW Heavyweight Title Match- 4) Barry Windham (c) defeated Iron Sheik (w/Oliver Humperdink) with the Bulldog @ 3:11.
This match ended very suddenly. Both men felt each other out until Windham sprung into action. Two high impact moves and then a Bulldog out of the corner and the Sheik and Humperdink had no idea what hit them.

Capitol City Championship Wrestling February 27, 1982 Chesapeake City, MD Chesapeake Marina & Convention Center
Card # 11
*Lance Russell has plenty to tell the fans this week. The location and the main event of the big card to held on March 7th will be announced. That and so much more. Unfortunately Lance is interrupted by The Destroyer. The masked man apologizes but says that he wants to set something straight right now. He knows that the Masked Superstar is a tough man but he can't settle for being the second best masked wrestler in the world. So he knows that Superstar is in the back so he's laying out the challenge right now to get in the ring. Destroyer runs into the ring and starts bouncing off the ropes. Masked Superstar is out and says to Russell that he has nothing to prove. He holds a victory over him and it's over. Destroyer hustles back to the podium and says that he's been up nights agonizing over that loss and wants a chance to get it back. Superstar laughs and begins to turn away but instead the Destroyer slaps his face and the battle is on.
1) Masked Superstar beat The Destroyer when he rolled through a bodypress and hooked the tights for a pin @ 11:51.
This was a heated match and Destroyer looked determined to get a win here. He appeared ready to put things away as he went to the top turnbuckle but Superstar rolled through after the body press attempt and he hooked the tights without the ref's knowledge to get another win. Superstar quickly left the scene as Destroyer was visably upset and slammed his fist against the turnbuckle.
2) "Exotic" Adrian Street (w/Miss Linda) fought Bob Roop to a Double Disqualification @ 8:30.
This was a scheduled re-match after these two went the time limit last time. Both men were well matched but Street actually took the action to the floor. Even though both have great mat wrestling skills they instead brawled with great intensity. The official tried to get between them and he was struck by both of them as they refused to give in.
3) "Cowboy" Bob Orton (w/Magnificent Muraco) beat "Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin with a Second Rope Powerslam @ 12:07.
Muraco was heckled by fans repeatedly at ringside and he had troubling focusing on the his partner's match. Garvin missed a potential headbutt into the corner as Muraco grabbed Orton. This gave Orton the chance to hit the slam and gain the victory.
*Lance Russell is out with Jon Massif. Big City Nights will take place in Baltimore, Maryland on March 7th. The main event will be for the NWA World Heavyweight Title and Ric Flair will defend against current Capitol City Champion Barry Windham. It should be a tremendous match as they have faced off several times before.
4) The Red Menace (w/Oliver Humperdink) beat "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan & Brad Armstrong by Disqualification due to Duggan's 2 by 4 @ 9:44.
The Russians kept Armstrong on their corner and brutally double teamed him most of the match. Add that punishment with Bob Orton who made his way out to ringside who layed a few punches on Armstrong after he was thrown out of the ring while the ref was distracted. Duggan had seen enough and grabbed "Old Glory" and cleared house and just missed the ref who called for the bell.
-MD State Heavyweight Title Match- 5) "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka (c) beat "Crippler" Ray Stevens after a Knoggin Knocker with Magnificent Muraco @ 16:30.
Snuka was a roll when his old nemesis Muraco slipped out to ringside. Snuka was alert and slammed Muraco's head into the dazed Stevens and used that momentum to retain his belt.
