"Rising Sun" Joe Armstrong : Since the start of Season One back in late December Armstrong has been a dominant competitor. He secured victories over Bishop Hell and Bryan Danielson in the early rounds of the title tournament, then got past Chris Hero by countout en route to a tremendous victory over Austin Aries to become the first CCW Heavyweight champion.
Armstrong never shied away from any challenge be it from either side of the locker room. He held off advances from Aries in rematches, and even teamed with fellow favorite Nigel McGuinness to face Fyne's army in tag competition. A lapse in judgement gave Bishop Hell a Countout victory over the champion as he chased Louden Noxious to the back. Another victory in a rematch with Danielson until he met stiff resistance from Delirious. They had a good match going until Bishop Hell attempted a Fireball that was meant for Armstrong, instead the masked man took the blow.
Rising Sun then turned back the challenge of Brent Albright while Delirous healed for his next chance. Armstrong did not participate in the World Tag Grand Prix but instead was a special attraction in a Title vs. Title match versus CCW Crusier champion UltraMantis Black. That match ended in a huge brawl between the Order and Al Snow and The Sandman.
Delirious finally healed and at Armstrong's insistence recieved a proper title shot devoid of outside interference. It was Armstrong's toughest title match to date. But he narrowly pulled away for a pinfall win. He went to shake hands but the crazed masked man snapped and attacked him instead leveling him with a Bizarro Driver! Armstrong was not a crisp in his next defense and paid for it as Tyler Black, who hit three successive Pheonix Splashes gained the title win.
As of right now revenge against Delirious or a rematch against Black is not in the cards. Joe Armstrong signed a developmental deal with WWE and will appear in Florida Championship Wrestling in early Summer.
Mark & Jay Briscoe: The wildly popular Briscoes are known for their no nonsense style and innovative style of tag team team wrestling. They captured tha CCW Tag Team Titles at "The Beginning of the End is the Beginning -Part 2" in a FATAL-FOUR Way as they outlasted F.I.S.T., The Heartbreak Express and The Osirian Portal. The Portal made it to the end only to end of victim to the SPIKE JAY DRILLER. They got their chance in rematch after upsetting the Kings of Wrestling. Unfortunatley for them the Briscoes handled them in the rematch as well.
They were challenged by another team they had faced yet in the ring in Chris Hero & Claudi Castagnoli. Instead it was a singles affair and both Jay and Mark were sent home in defeat. However that did not help the Kings as the Briscoes successfuly defeated them at "New York Groove" in February.
The Kings did not give up so easily. They gained a win in a Trios challenge as they paired with Brodie Lee to gain victory over the Briscoes and Nigel McGuinness at "Joy and Pain". It seemed that this rivalry was just heating up. These two teams would collide once again in March in the Finals of the 1st Annual World Tag Grand Prix. But this time the Kings added a new wrinkle. "Sweet N' Sour" Larry Sweeney had been announced as their new advisor. They also attempted to attack the Briscoes to weaken them before the tourney. The plan backfired and Chris Hero escaped with a minor injury.
Both teams were focused to meet one more time and they did but this time it was Sweeney who was the difference tripping up Mark into a HERO'S WELCOME by Chris Hero. The cup would go to the Kings. Bolstered with extra confidence the Kings challenged the Briscoes again to a title match- this time 2 out 3 Falls.
The teams met in April at "Tooth and Nail" and split the opening falls. It all came down to Fall number three but once again the Kings, this time without Sweeney emerged victorious but this time with the titles as well as the golden cup.
No doubt the Briscoes await their return match. But will the Kings be quick to honor that request or will Commissioner Charlie Cox have to make a ruling in this ongoing feud.
Jigsaw: The masked favorite started off winning a 10 Man Crusierweight Battle Royal to win the CCW Crusierwight title. He flipped Icarus to the floor in the finale to gain the prize. Icarus demanded a match for the title but Jigsaw emerged victorious. He then defended against one of Icarus' TEAM F.I.S.T. contingent in Chuck Taylor. He got past Taylor by disqualification but was almost busted open in the process.
At "New York Groove" Jig's reign came to a quick end as he relinquished the belt to Ultramantis Black. Of course the Order of the Neo-Solar Temple helped a great deal in helping their leader procure the gold. Undeterred Jigsaw faced Chuck Taylor once again in a #1 Contenders match at "Joy and Pain' He got the victory and a shot at Ultramantis but he paid a heavy price. Taylor along with his brother is similar tights attacked Jigsaw and tossed him headfirst on a chair courtesy of an AWFUL WAFFLE!
Jigsaw returned to action in March at the World Tag Grand Prix as he teamed with mentor Mike Quackenbush. He got a measure of revenge and his team defeated Chuck Taylor and Arik Cannon. They continued to move through the tourney as they beat Steve Corino and Justin Credible but were stopped in the Quarters by Team F.I.S.T.
Instead of receiving his title shot he was placed back into a #1 contenders match this time with Larry Sweeney. He was all over Sweeney and appeared to have the shot won. That is until the Kings of Wrestling appeared. And the masked man who attacked Mike Quackenbush back in December. This time it was Jigsaw as he went hurling through a table giving Sweeney the countout win.
That masked man revealed himself to be another former Quackenbush pupil - Tim Donst! Jig quickly challenged Donst at "Tooth and Nail" and got a DQ victory.
Jigsaw appears to have several fronts to deal with before he gets back to a rightful return match against Ultramantis Black. Team F.I.S.T. as well as Tim Donst and the Kings have the masked man's attention for now.
