Hi! So, in case you couldn't tell from the lack of post count, I'm new here . I've recently tried to correct a 20+ year old mistake by playing with COTG online, when I really should have just bought the darn sets as a kid and followed on . Anyhow, I seemed to have taken a slightly different tract than many of the other feds I've seen here and I thought I'd share some of my ideas, feel free (of course) to ignore! The basic idea is that I like to have reasonably small federations (20 guys, 8 singles and 6 tags) competing for only 1 singles and 1 tag belt. With the roster creep in GWF, I decided to create a spin-off fed early on, UCW (Universal Championship Wrestling), home to the Universal and Universal Tag Championships. I'm currently at the end of 2091, and plan to spin-off a 3rd federation soon... I try to keep the federations with their sort of style: My GWF is a very corporate-like environment, with a well-defined ladder of success and typically the same format for their shows. As the standard bearer, GWF wrestlers are more likely to work hurt, and will typically only bring in outside wrestlers (those not contracted to either fed) in the case of suspensions. UCW is a "grown-up" independent, more likely to use independent talent, and to be more flexible with the rosters. Makeshift teams, tag wrestlers going into the singles division and multi-man matches are far more prevalent than in the GWF. So that's a brief explanation, lets get to the fun bit and explain a bit about the history of the feds to this point!

The Beginning (January 2087)
Three major events happened in January 2087, although only 2 of them were really noticed at the time:
1) Galaxian Champion Commander Sam refused to sign a new contract wanting to "tour the universe" more, and relinquished the title. Though he did not rule out returning to the GWF on a part-time basis, he felt it best to give up the belt.
2) The Galaxian Tag Champions, the GameMasters violently broke apart, forcing the tag titles to be vacated as well. Both championships would be decided in early year tournaments.
The less reported, but perhaps most important historically, news was that: 3) An unknown named Reynald B. Guile bought a relatively unknown independent federation called Universal Championship Wrestling. In his first "major" move, he convinced GWF midcarder Marcel de Sade to sign a contract, and repackaged him as The Executioner. A month later, he would beat Universal Champ Johnny Cage, and would reign for about 2 years.....

2087 Quarter 1 (January-March)
UCW: UCW's big event of the year, Universal Slamasters '87 took place on February 14th. This was the card where The Executioner defeated Johnny Cage to win the Universal Championship. In another match, a young independent wrestler named Pulsar wowed the crowd. He would earn a temporary contract with the much bigger GWF based on this performance. More on this later...
GWF: The January supershow featured the 1st round in the tournaments to crown new Galaxian and Galaxian Tag Team Champions. January 31st would see the first battle of the GameMasters as Thantos defeated Star Warrior to advance in the tournament. Also notable was Invincible Krakan's defeat of Wolf. This meant 2 of the most popular of the GWF wrestlers were already out!
Feburary 28th saw the continuation of the tournament, and the first big match for the newly signed Pulsar, as well as a fantastic match between Star Warrior and Wolf (won by Star Warrior). The finals of the tournaments were now set: It would be Thantos vs Lord Nexus and The Greek Gods vs The Gladiators of Aethra for the titles!
The finals were on March 28th, with the villanous Thantos and the highly popular Greek Gods coming out on top.
After March 2087: GWF: Galaxian Champion: Thantos Galaxian Tag Champions: The Greek Gods UCW: Universal Champion: Executioner Universal Tag Champions: The Men of Action (Hugh & Larry)

2087 Quarter 2 (April-June)
UCW: With the Executioner as the top guy and Guile's marketing acumen, UCW was starting to make great strides. Though nowhere close to the hold the GWF had on the wrestling universe, UCW was clearly getting bigger...
GWF: In a shocking upset in April, The Neptunian Space Croppers knocked off the Greek Gods to win the tag titles. It would not last as The Greek Gods regained the belts just a month later. On that same night in May, Lord Nexus took the title (and some revenge) from Thantos.
Thantos would regain the title in June, while Pulsar (now teaming with Pit-Viper) would go on to beat the FDF team of Massif & Omega in a shocking upset.
After June 2087: GWF: Galaxian Champion: Thantos Galaxian Tag Champions: The Greek Gods UCW: Universal Champion: Executioner Universal Tag Champions: The Men of Action

2087 Quarter 3 (July-September)
UCW: UCW continued to grow as the Executioner continued to reign. Magazines across the galaxies were now treating UCW as the biggest of the independents. Still not to the level of the GWF, but merchandise of Executioner (and to a lesser extent, the contoversial Men of Action) was selling well. The Men of Action dropped the titles in July, but won them back in September
GWF: Thantos successfully defended the Galaxian title twice, against Wolf and Lord Nexus, and the Greek Gods also retained the entire period. Also having a good 3 months were the FDF team of Massif & Omega, the latter looking for one last title run before heading off into the sunset. Commander Sam also made his return in the midcard, facing guys like Vanity, Comrade Terror and Invincible Krakan.
After September 2087: GWF: Galaxian Champion: Thantos Galaxian Tag Champions: The Greek Gods UCW: Universal Champion: Executioner Universal Tag Champions: The Men of Action

2087 Quarter 4 (October-December)
UCW: Reynald B. Guile was giving a normal press conference when he "accidentally" let slip that he had a new tag team ready to come in that would shock the known universe. With the suspensions of the Gladiators from the GWF (see below), many wondered if it was the legendary team that would jump to UCW! Guile was very careful to neither confirm nor deny, as the Gladiators were still under a valid GWF contract. The Men of Action (perhaps a little miffed by the announcement) debuted a more sadistic side, keeping their titles handily. Executioner kept his title easily as well.
GWF: The GWF made a couple of important announcements in late September- 1) The were going to be giving some unknown wrestlers a chance until the end of the year. This included Bishop Hell, who would have a decent few months.
2) The December supercard would be a newly-minted annual tournament known as the King of Galaxy. There would be both a Singles and Tag Team tournament with the top 4 contenders for each title having a one-night single-elimination mini-tournament. The survivors would then get a title shot the same night, where the winner of the last match being crowned the King of the Galaxy for the year.
Before the tournament, however, there was the small matter of a very controversial match for the Galaxian Tag titles between The Greek Gods and The Gladiators. The Gladiators looked to have won the titles, when Massacre pinned Proteus, but a post-match attack on the Gods during the celebration lead to a reverse decision and a suspension for the Aethrans. It was made quite well known in press conferences after the event that the Gladiators were looking at "other options".
In the event, Bishop Hell did well enough to advance to the tournament, along with Pulsar (still teaming with Pit-Viper). Both lost in the semi-finals, with the Society of Death team of Ghenghis Khan & Mutant surviving the mini-tournament on the tag team side. Star Warrior won the singles tournament. The Kings of the Galaxy, however, were the champions: The Greek Gods and Thantos, as they repelled the challenge of their rivals to win the inaugural crowns.
Year End Champions 2087: GWF: Galaxian Champion and King of Galaxy 2087: Thantos Galaxian Tag Champions and Kings of Galaxy 2087: The Greek Gods UCW: Universal Champion: Executioner Universal Tag Champions: The Men of Action

2088 Quarter 1 (January-March)
GWF: The GWF made some interesting contract moves, giving full contracts to Mutant and Bishop Hell, along with a tag team known as the AniMen: The Incredible Badger & Reptillo. There was no contract for Pulsar, and they even released Pit-Viper, the man he was teaming with! They also released Killer Queen and Vanity to little fanfare. Pointedly, no mention was made of the Gladiators, and when they weren't on the January Supercard, speculation ran rampant that they were on the way out...
Meanwhile in the ring, January saw the legend, Omega, recapture a small bit of his former glory as he and Massif won the Galaxian tag titles from the Greek Gods. February saw the Gods regain, but also saw the Invincible Krakan upset Thantos to win the Galaxian Championship. Once again, the former champ regained in short order, and with the Gods defence of the Tag titles against the AniMen in March, the champions at the end of March were the same as the champions at the start of the year.
UCW: As UCW was preparing for the biggest event in their history, Slamasters '88, rumors were flying about the "mystery" tag team that Guilehad been pushing for the better part of 6 months. The idea that it would be the Gladiators seemed to be confirmed when a Spike, another Aethran, was signed to challenge Executioner for the title. Guile had also said that The Men of Action would be defending the Tag titles against the mystery team, much to the annoyance of Larry & Hugh. They promised to retire forever if they lost the titles on the night. Guile closed by stating that it would be a night that no one would ever forget. Oh how right he was....
So on Friday, February 13th, all the question would be answered....and it didn't go well at all. The Universal Tag Title match was actually first up, with the Men of Action (looking rather disgusted) coming to the ring first. Guile then came down to address the crowd, as a "Gladiators" chant rose up. Instead, the mystery team turned out to be some unknown rip-off team, dressed sort of like the Galaxian tag team champions called the "Norse Gods". Larry & Hugh looked like they were in shock and about to burst out laughing, but were too distracted and were quickly beaten for the belts. Needless to say, the crowd HATED the Norse Gods. One "fan" that was in the crowd (clearly a plant) was the young Pulsar(!), who quickly came to the ring and told the crowd that he brought an "old friend from another Galaxy" and he thought they could take the Norse Gods right there and then. The match was made, and Pulsar brought out his partner, Vanity. They two had christened themselves as the Young Punks, and were clearly trying to be evil. Despite this, the crowd cheered wildly for them against the Norse Gods, and absolutely exploded when Vanity hit the Pulverizer to win the titles. The night when from bad to worse, when in the main event Spike and Executioner battled to an indecisive finish that allowed Executioner to keep the title. This was UCW's biggest event...and it ended up as a HUGE failure. Would Guile learn from his mistakes, or would UCW be close to folding?
After March 2088 GWF: Galaxian Champion: Thantos Galaxian Tag Champions: Greek Gods UCW: Universal Champion: Executioner Universal Tag Champions: Young Punks (Pulsar & Vanity)

Cheers for the feedback, frankly I wasn't really expecting anyone to read this, let alone comment on it! I just thought it would be fun to try to tell a reasonably comprehensive story now that I've done 5 years. Of course this means that more updates are on the way. Hope you continue to enjoy!
