I must be in the minority, because for some reason this Mania season I am just not feeling the excitement, perhaps it's because I was never a big Rock fan and I dislike Cena to the point of channel changing, last night it was a Family Guy rerun on TBS.

I am really not in line with anyone, I guess. I am really enjoying it all, to be honest. Other than Cena, can't hardly stand the sight of him...but the HHH/Undertaker/HBK stuff is good. Love CM Punk vs. Jericho, DB vs. Sheamus....all of it, really. Even enjoyed the Rock last night.
Really looking forward to WM this year. To me, the card is stacked....

Out of curiousity, what is Cena currently doing that you guys don't like? I am not trying to sway you guys one way or the other, because I agree that Cena can get a little tiring and has at times. I really think he has been clearly motivated and interesting lately though.

Out of curiousity, what is Cena currently doing that you guys don't like? He's being John Cena. If you haven't noticed, a lot of people have hated him for quite awhile and that is not going to change no matter how many crappy promos the Rock cuts.

For me it's the Hulk Hogan Superman factor. No matter how bad things seemed/or the odds stacked against them they win. I hated Hogan as a kid, give me Piper, Orndorff, Andre, Macho Man any day.

I hate the fact that he destroyed Kane in that ambulance match (yes, I know, it should have been expected).
I hate the fact that when he and the Miz wrestled in that I Quit Match, he buried Miz so far in the dirt with him being beaten into a pulp, only to Super-Cena and win in a matter of moments (I know, this was quite a while ago, but still)
I hate that the WWE belt looks so stupid because of him (unless I am mistaken and the WWE belt that spins was not introduced during one of his reigns?)
I hate that he nearly always Super-Cena's up and destroys nearly everyone
I hate that CM Punk did not win at SummerSlam cleanly (due to Lauranitus distracting Cena)
I hate that "Super Serious Cena" look he gets when he needs to break it down for us
I hate that cocky smirk he gets on his face when the Rock went face to face with him (reminds me of the spoiled brat in the principals office. He knows he should be in trouble, but he also knows that the principal has not got the power to do anything)
I hate that Vince felt it necessary to force feed us Cena like he has (he is this generations Hulk Hogan, and I hated Hogan back then, also)
The only thing about him that I do like is that my boys both like him. Other than that, I am tired of seeing him week after week after week. He needs to leave TV for about 6 months, come back in a fresh and new way...I have been hoping that he would turn heel. But I am not seeing that that will ever happen, especially since it looks as though they are going to put him over the Rock at WM.
Those are but a few of the reasons right off the top of my head as to why I am not liking Cena at the moment. I understand that most of that, if not all of that, is coming from the WWE's creative dept or even Vince, himself...but it all adds up as to why I am not "liking" Cena much at all.

I guess it's all in your perspective. Cena's smirk to me was great because The Rock really has no argument against Cena when Cena rags on him for leaving after he says he's never leaving. This past Monday where Rock said, "I guess you took the literal meaning of that statement." (or something to that effect) ....uhh...yeah call me crazy but when someone says something like "I'm back and never leaving," I don't assume he's using a metaphor.
Cena's matches I can understand people not liking but he's just following the formula Hogan and Austin used (superman comeback).
I really like his serious promos, not many faces can pull off being super intense.
The Rock made me laugh when he was trying to intimidate Cena saying he was 6'5" and 265 lbs. I was thinking, "Didn't Cena have both The Big Show & Edge on his back at the same time for a Double AA at Mania a few yrs ago? I don't think someone being 265 lbs is gonna scare him."
The spinner belt has probably made the WWE more money than most other products ever released. Have you seen how many people have those? Those things are close to $400 each.
I think the Austin factor has many people soured on Cena. Austin was an anti-hero. Those are always "cooler" than straight laced babyfaces.
I agree about Punk. The WWE really screwed up his run. I blame HHH. He totally hijacked that whole angle.

When Cena is angry/serious he cuts a better and more realistic promo than anyone in the WWE. He's the only guy since Brock Lesnar who legit looks like he could kill you if you pissed him off enough.
Not like HHH who just makes angry faces and blows snot into his own moustache when it's time to look intense for the cameras. Or like the Rock, who's just likes to stare at people when he wants to look like a bad ass and needs time to think of his next line. Cena goes OFF. You can literally see his body fill with adrenaline when he gets intense. When he gets going, he's never at a loss for words, getting more intense with each one. Because, imo, that shit is real. Cena's heart is more into this than anyone's, especially the Rock.

well, everything in wrestling is dependent upon perspective (except for WCW's final days, that was a nightmare for everyone).
"I really like his serious promos, not many faces can pull off being super intense." - Payback
I don't see him so much as "super intense", rather, I see him as "super Cena" coming out again.
"The Rock made me laugh when he was trying to intimidate Cena saying he was 6'5" and 265 lbs." - Payback
I saw that as more The Rock saying, just what he was saying....Strip away all of the "wrestling/hollywood" that is The Rock, and this is what you get...an ass-kicker that is going to kick John Cena's teeth down his throat.
"The spinner belt has probably made the WWE more money than most other products ever released. Have you seen how many people have those? Those things are close to $400 each." - Payback
Hey, that is great!! Awesome for WWE. But that doesn't mean I have to like the belt.
"I think the Austin factor has many people soured on Cena. Austin was an anti-hero. Those are always "cooler" than straight laced babyfaces. " - Payback
It wasn't Austin's character that soured me on Cena's character. It was probably Hogan's 80's character that soured me on Cena's character. To me, he is the new Hulk Hogan.
And as far as HHH screwing up the whole Punk angle with Cena...sure, I will not debate you on that. But Cena was still a part of that, and Punk still did not really go clean over Cena at SummerSlam (if I am remembering the PPV's correctly, that was the one where Vince sent Lauranitus to ring the bell but Cena stopped him, right?)
Swarm....
I agree with what you have said. And yes, Cena's heart is probably more into than The Rock's. But again, the super intense Cena to me, is just Super Cena showing himself. And when that happens? Look out everyone else....because you are about to be buried. I don't think he can bury Rock, though. Beat him, yes, and probably most assuredly that will happen.
Honestly, here is what I would like to see happen:
Have the Rock go over Cena at WM28. Cena comes out the next Monday night, gives a solemn speech about how he has "lost his smile" ala HBK...whatever, leaves. Is gone for several months...many months....like, at least 8 months. During this time, The Rock goes on and actually goes full-time wrestling for the year, even capping it off with winning the WWE Title (over CM Punk, say at SummerSlam).
When Cena does come back, he comes back as a MONSTER HEEL. He shows up, possibly even at RR. Goes on a tear through the roster as a heel, setting up The Rock vs. John Cena one more time, WM29, but this time for the WWE Title....But this time, Cena goes over the Rock, sending The Rock packing and into retirement.....Keep Cena heel if the heel turn is working, or turn him back to face with a new challenge for the WWE title.
I know that this would never happen, because WWE thinks they need to force-feed us Super Cena all the time, and that the Rock would not (most likely) want to wrestle full-time again. I know that there are egos involved that would never bend or break to make it happen (Cena and Rock's) and then there would be the other influences...like HHH....
But to me, that would be the best way to go with the Rock-Cena feud....Hell, you could even have the Rock turn heel after he beat Cena at WM28, then bring Cena back later as the babyface coming back to restore his lost honor. I always liked the face chasing the heel for the title, anyways.
