As if we needed more reasons to hate elitist holier than thou Red Wing fan, we get this gem: www.clickondetroit.com/news/Dearborn-City-Councilman-assaulted-outside-Red-Wings-game/-/1719418/9223724/-/10iv7luz/-/index.htmlTurns out some awesome Wings fan didn't like that two 14 year old kids were wearing Blackhawk jersey's so he attacked their father. No doubt human peice of shit aka Red Wing fan hated that his precious Wings actually lost a home game. Oh, the horror! See guys, Red Wings fans are total losers. They found something to leach onto in the 90's when the Wings were happy to buy up all the best talent in the NHL (bandwagons fans) and they've never looked back. When anyone else but the Wings win the Cup the Wings are "still the best team in the NHL". No fan base in the world handled losing worse than snobby Red Wings fans. Maybe Steeler fans and their "Six!" battle cry. THIS is why we guns. f all the pussy liberals who are against gun control. You're fing delusional. I would have pulled my gun and murdered this dude on the spot. And it only gets better...we are now hearing bar owners call into the local radio talking about how they have to kick Red Wings fans out of bars who start fights with fans of opposing teams. "Happens all the time" the guys say Why??? Lions fans don't do this. Pistons? MI fans? No one but elitist Red Wing fans. fing losers.

Definitely a senseless act committed by some total moronic douchebags. Although I don't think murdering someone over this is the answer. This is like that incident that happened at the Dodgers - Giants game where fans were beaten just for wearing the opposing teams colors and that guy went into a coma. Or in Columbus, OH where they will vandalize someone's car in the parking lot for having a MI license plate, and accost fans in the stands who have the audacity to have on maize and blue in "The Horseshoe."
I can't understand why people would actually come to blows at a sporting event simply for what someone is wearing.
Fights used to break out in the Pontiac Silverdome almost every game but since they've moved to Ford Field, this has almost completely been eliminated.
I don't think it has anything to do with Wings fans thinking their team is always the best or anything, just some guys who probably had too much to drink being assholes. I've been to several games at the Joe and have never seen anything like this happen
I've always thought JLA should have some security outside the building following games. This is what would've stopped this incident, not guns.
I hope they have some video surveillance footage and these A-holes will be caught and prosecuted.

1. I just can't get into hockey at all. I don't see what the big deal is. They move so fast I can't tell who has the puck most of the time.
2. 95% of Red Wings fans I've met are complete d-bags. Spot on Swarm.

Happens every where, see Philadelphia for one. Alcohol plus idiots equals BAD OUT COME. I wondered how long it would take someone to play the "it happens everywhere card". No, it doesn't. Show me the links of stories for every sports team where fans attacked parents with children wearing the opponent's jersey's. Fights happen everywhere but fans attacking parents of fans simply because the kids are wearing the opponent's jersey do not happen everywhere. And while you are probably right about alchohol being involved, it's not reported that this guy appeared to be drunk anywhere in the article. What it does state is that the attacker was provoked by two 14 year old girls minding their own business. Definitely a senseless act committed by some total moronic douchebags. Although I don't think murdering someone over this is the answer. This is like that incident that happened at the Dodgers - Giants game where fans were beaten just for wearing the opposing teams colors and that guy went into a coma. You use the word "senseless" which illustrates psychotic behavior, liken it to a story of a man who was put into a coma and almost killed for wearing a Giants jersey, but murdering someone in self defense is not the answer? So you'd rather be on deaths bed or see a loved one nearly killed rather than carry a gun and be prepared to defend yourself? So the guy who attacks you - his life is worth more than yours and your family? You'd rather take a beating (and I guess see others like this guy get his ass kicked) than allow people like him and like yourself the opportunity to defend yourself against "senseless" attackers? Or in Columbus, OH where they will vandalize someone's car in the parking lot for having a MI license plate, and accost fans in the stands who have the audacity to have on maize and blue in "The Horseshoe." This is the not same thing as being physically attacked. I've always thought JLA should have some security outside the building following games. This is what would've stopped this incident, not guns. Detroit can't even keep a full police squad on staff let alone employ extra security to protect innocents from Red Wing fan. I'm sure you've read the new 911 rules recently put in place. And wtf do you think cops and security carry? Water pistols? There's a reason this country allows CCW's.

Having been to hockey games, football games, basketball games, and spring break in Daytona Beach, I've noticed that alcohol + adrenaline = stupid people doing violently stupid things. Now granted, I've never been to Detroit and don't know many RW fans so I can't compare. However, I've seen enough brawls, assaults, and threats to feel that mixing alcohol in that environment probably helped quite a bit.
Or people in Detroit could be pricks for all I know. The only time at a sporting event when I had my guard up the ENTIRE game was a Lakers/Magic game in Orlando, and I didn't care about either team (My dad got free tickets; I was bored).

Anyone know what time/when they stop selling beer at Red Wings games? I know they stop after the 3rd quarter at Lions games. Do they let people drink until the final buzzer? Because this happened after the game in the parking lot. So if the guy was drinking to begin with, how drunk was he at this time, if at all? It seems easy to blame this on alcohol but so far, no reports of any being involved. Pure assumption. And Payback doesn't even drink so how do we know the attacker wasn't the same? Does Red Wing fan have to be shit wasted to attack a Hawks fan? Is that the only logical excuse that can be found?
I can't seem to find any info on when Joe Louis stops selling beers. If anyone else can figure it out that's be great.

Or people in Detroit could be pricks for all I know. Like Big bri said, 95% of Red Wings fans are elitists. Even the ones missing teeth. I swear to God some of these guys put on that Winged sweater and you'd think they were wearing a crown. It's pretty disgusting. I'm sure this attacker simply couldn't keep it together mentally seeing a father with two girls wearing Hawks jersey's after a close loss. Regardless of whether he had been drinking or not. All you need to know about how impressed Wings fans are with themselves is to observe their sickening obsession with Sidney Crosby. God forbid someone actually come along that people consider to be better than the mighty Red Wings. They can't handle it at all. Much like how Colts fans went into panic attacks once they realized Tom Brady was better than Peyton Manning.

You'd rather take a beating (and I guess see others like this guy get his ass kicked) than allow people like him and like yourself the opportunity to defend yourself against "senseless" attackers? No, murdering someone is not the answer. Of course I would not rather see someone innocent get assaulted. But on the grounds of JLA, there should be some kind of security is what I'm saying. I would NEVER want everyone carrying guns and being vigilantes. If I wanted that, I'd live in the Middle East. Now, if you're talking about just walking down the street and this happening, that's different, but you shouldn't have to be "packing" going to a sporting event. Plus, isn't it illegal to carry guns where they serve alcohol? I hear what you're saying, though, don't get me wrong. I think the guys that did this are scum. Or in Columbus, OH where they will vandalize someone's car in the parking lot for having a MI license plate, and accost fans in the stands who have the audacity to have on maize and blue in "The Horseshoe." This is the not same thing as being physically attacked. I shouldn't have said accost, I meant assault. They do attack people wearing enemy colors at OSU football. I remember them making a big deal of all the altercations when Texas played there a few years ago. They do have security in the building so having some of them stand outside the building when the game is over seems like a pretty easy fix and would probably be a big deterrent for this kind of thing. But I suppose, no matter what you do, heightened security, people carrying CCW's, etc., people will continue to do it.
