I have a question about the old NWA/Jim Crockett/Georgia scene. I grew up in a WWF only part of the country, so my knowledge about the NWA is really only from around 1990 - current. I know that prior to pay-per views the WWF had a few "major" shows like the events at Shea stadium and so on. I also know that events at Madison Square Garden were kind of their major thing. My question is, did JCP have any major shows or a "home" arena that would hold major events (again for that time period - pre-PPV)? If so, is there a website that list the results from those years? I know this may sound crazy, but any help is appreciated.
PS: I don't know if this belongs in the WWE section or not. So, I'm sorry if this should be posted some place else.

JCP's big arena seemed to be Greensboro, NC. However, some people probably know better than I do.
What Georgia's big one was, I have no clue.

I'm a Georgian who saw a lot of Crockett in the 80s. They would run the Omni. It preceded Phillips Arena for major concerts, the Hawks, wrestling, and whatever NHL team happened to be passing through for a few years on its way to Canada.

I was pretty lucky I guess I saw a lot of NWA & WWF in addition to Dick the Bruisers Indianapolis stuff as well as the AWA. Now excuse me while I drift off into nostalgia land.

That's an excellent recommendation. Another site of interest that covers an earlier period (pre '83) of the Crockett territory would be Mid Atlantic Gateway. For GCW results, an excellent source would be Georgia Wrestling History. I have to hand it to fans who go above and beyond in their efforts to preserve a substantial online history for these old promotions. There isn't much profit to be made from it, so such references are few and far between. Hopefully their work will survive over the long term.

I was just about to list those myself LWPD. sethemilyfather, you might want to check out the Kayfabe Memories website too. There are sections for JCP, Mid-Atlantic, and Georgia on there. Great stuff.

Thanks everybody. Now what about early days NWA or the AWA?? Anybody know about this?? Thanks again!!! The NWA was an alliance, not a promotion, so whatever homebase arena they had would depend on which actual member promotion you're talking about. The AWA had such a vast territory to cover, especially when it was doing its own expansion in the '80s, that it's not quite the same animal as your average territory--it had several big arenas like the WW(W)F but no real equivalent to MSG. The closest would be the Rosemont Horizon outside Chicago, followed in no particular order by the Met Center in Minneapolis, the St. Paul Civic Center, and in the '80s the Cow Palace (San Fran), Salt Palace (Salt Lake City), and Winnipeg Arena.
