Usually I'm all for equal rights and whatnot but this is just weird and wrong. Yes, I get that she thinks of herself as female. Yes, I get that she has had a long and probably painful (both psychologically and physically) prossess to become physically female even though she is still genetically male. Yes, I actually have good friends who have done the same thing and I think they are awesome. But there are pageants out there specifically for transgendered individuals. This nice lady should want to enter those. The Miss America Pageant (an incredibly useless and stupid thing anyway as all "beauty" pageants are) exists so that women can starve themselves and wear to much makeup and Vaseline their teeth for the acceptance of whatever segment of the population still gives a crap. Actual women. Not transgendered women. Sorry.

Isn't this a private company running this pageant? Therefore it should be up to them who they allow to enter their pageants. Do we really need to get lawyers involved???

It is a private competition, so its really up to the organizers. Seems like the Miss Canada officials have a rule, so thats that. Dude is just looking for publicity.
The thing that gets me is the article states her/his birth certificate lists her/him as female. I can understand other documents saying female, but how can you rewrite history on a birth certificate?

OK, I've already stated that I don't agree with her attempt to get into the Miss America (or wahtever) pageant, but why the hate? People get plastic or other cosmetic surgery all the time to feel better about themselves. Girl gets a boob job and guys start drooling. Woman gets her lips done or her nose fixed or something like that and no one bats an eyelash. Someone does something incredibly drastic to make themselves feel better and now you are all on here calling her a him (which she clearly is not) and psychotic and whatnot. That's not right. Sure you may think she's a freak but she didn't just wake up one day and say "Hey, I want to hack off my balls, get breasts and turn my penis from an outie to an innie." Like I also said I know a post-op male-to-female transgendered woman and she is a great lady. And I call her a lady because that is what she is. Scary part is she is as tall as I am, a little stockier and makes chainsaw wood art (and good stuff too).
So is this woman trying to get in a pageant clearly not meant for her a gold-digging sleaze...yeah, probably. Does that give you the right to call her a dude with a mutilated cock, no. Not a matter of being PC, just a matter of being decent people.

I don't think this person should be allowed to compete. While I don't see it as having anything to do with the gay marriage thing, I don't see why this person feels the need to compete in this competition. Maybe we have to (sadly) add language that you need to be born a woman to compete.
This person obviously has issues.
