Been thinking a lot about what it's like to be a wrestling fan today in the internet age vs. how it used to be back in the day. Has wrestling changed? or have we, the fans changed? People complain that nothing is a surprise anymore but then read the dirt sheets. So I decided to conduct an experiment.
For 30 full days - no internet wrestling sites. No reading the WWE section here on this board. No spoilers of any kind. Watch RAW, when it's over that's it until Friday. Watch SD, when it's over nothing wrestling related until Monday and so on for 1 month. The idea is to then judge your excitement of the show and compare it to how it is/was while wrapped up in the "behind the scenes" of it all thanks to dirt sheets.
I'm going to do this starting tonight.
I'm going to watch RAW then it begins. No RAW recap. No reading sights. Nothing. No matter what happens. Andre the Giant could return tonight and I won't talk or read about it on the internet. Treat it as if dirt sheets and the IWC and the internet do not exist.
I'm very interested to see how I feel and think 30 days from now, especially with Brock being back and a lot of new guys supposedly rumored to be showing up soon. Hopefully I'm in store for a lot of fun and legit surprises.
In the immortal words of Jerry McGuire - "Who's coming with me?"

Does this trip include popcorn & beverage?
Seriously a great plan. I'll give it a whirl.

Does magazines count? I remember as a teenager going to Food Lion and while mom shopped for groceries. I would be reading the articles in the old Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazines.

A great idea, I would really consider joining you but I don't consistently watch Raw & Smackdown. I definitely think your enjoyment level will go up by not reading spoilers.

I am in....although, I only go to two wrestling sites (this one and Lords of Pain). And even with LoP, it is only once every other week or so.

The co-challenge should be to "just watch". No expectations, no over-analyzing...just watch. It's what I do with every thing that I watch except sports, but fans will be fans!!

This section of the board is going to get really quiet for the next month...

i havn't been reading too many wrestling sites lately at all. without other feds, there's little room for wrestler movement, not as many surprises. still, i like coming here and discussing what went down on RAW.
