I'm done with this guy. In fact, I can honestly say I can no longer stand him. Forget that he is hardly the wrestling God he claims to be. He goes through the motions the same way everyone else does, and does nothing overly special. Forget his non-stop whining similar to an IWC teenage kid. In fact, forget his whole "character" on TV all together. Let's focus on CM Punk, the man aka typical, super emotional, angry, leftist. Maybe you have read it, but CM Punk is for gay marriage and he kindly advises people who do not to "kill yourself" and to "drink bleach." www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/05/10/Pro-Wrestler-Drink-BleachThat's nice. I don't want to involve politics into who I like in wrestling, but when the wrestlers decide to involve it, then that's where I draw the line. Honestly, I hope WWE punishes this prick for these comments. WWE is as big a capitalistic, Republican company as there is on the planet. Only companies like Pepsi (which owns Taco Bell, Moutian Dew, Subway and a million other things ) are comparable). basically if you watch WWE while drinking a Pepsi, you are a Republican whether you realize it or not. But that's another story. WWE cannot afford to have their champion running around like a jerk off, saying things like this. Yes, I realize people are so stupid in today's world that we have allowed these PC activists to turn the tables. Now if you don't agree with the things they like and want, it is ok to call you names. "Bigot" is ok, "homosexual" is not - just sayin' Ya, he apologized. I'm sure Vince ordered him to. But the damage is done. Can you imagine is someone like Cena (or anyone really) told gays to kill themselves? Think about that for a second. Why is it when emotional leftists run their mouths like this it's OK? This is a horrible, awful thing he did and he needs to be punished. Take the belt off of him.

I am a fan of CM Punk the wrestler but I do not condone his choice of words. He is entitled to his opinion, as we all are, but being a celebrity he should be more responsible concerning his actions, especially when interacting with fans aka customers. I don't know if he is just trying to make a controversial statement and get his name in the press, in turn putting WWE in the press, but something like this can only bring negativity to the company. It's one thing for him to support certain political beliefs, it's another for him to use this kind of language when Vince has put his trust in Punk to be one of the main faces of WWE by giving him the title. If it were up to me, I'd have him drop the belt at the next PPV and make him earn back the trust he lost.

I agree with Punk. The anti-gay crowd has said/done so much worse. Granted, the "kill yourself' remark was a little far, but considering gays have been beaten and killed in our own country, I don't care about the words.
And this has nothing to do with Republican/Demoncrat/Liberal/Conservative B.S. that Swarm is so fond of pulling into so many 'discussions.' NC's law is not stupid since it hurts both gays and straights, but also because it was passed, once again, by people with no brains but lots of hated.
If Punk had told off those guys because they were Christian, black, brunette, etc., I would definitely call him out of line. But the people were a bunch of pricks so Punk responded in kind. I personally wouldn't have apologized, but that's only because I and my wife, having spent years around the LGBT community, have little tolorance for that crap.

Granted, the "kill yourself' remark was a little far, but considering gays have been beaten and killed in our own country, I don't care about the words. What do people who have nothing to do with the story have to do with it? Did the people who Punk attacked kill anybody? And this has nothing to do with Republican/Demoncrat/Liberal/Conservative B.S. that Swarm is so fond of pulling into so many 'discussions.' Of course it does. It's a political issue. And CM Punk pulled into wrestling, not me. And it's not BS. It's real. The WWE champion of an overly Republican corporation just told voters and supporters to kill themselves. WWE is backed by some of the most wealthy Republican companies on the planet. Linda McMahon is running for senate for Christ's sake. And one of their most recognizable stars attacks people who oppose a heavy democratic desire, and you don't think politics has anything to do with it? Fit Finlay was fired for insulting the troops. Did politics have anything to do with that? Just like the title says, CM Punk is a dumb ass. He can THINK whatever he wants. Keep it to yourself. What he did is bad for business. How can you deny that? NC's law is not stupid since it hurts both gays and straights, but also because it was passed, once again, by people with no brains but lots of hated. Because people who don't agree with you have no brains. Tolerance? Pricks? They said homos were "gross". Maybe you don't consider anything about it gross. Maybe others like you don't either.. But for a lot of people, it's probably best described as "gross". Is saying it's gross really hating? I think people who pick their nose are gross. Does that make me a hate mongering bigot toward nose pickers? Or is it it just gross? At what point do you guys simply strip the rest of society of their basic human feelings and instincts? When does the day come that everyone will be told what you think, feel and how to react? And if they don't, they can "kill themselves." When does that happen? Sorry, but CM Punk is out of my fav 5. If you want me to keep politics out of wrestling, it starts with the wrestlers. Kane is a hardcore Republican. Best part about that is he you'd never know about it, and he doesn't go on Twitter and tell those who oppose his views to "kill themselves."

Actually Kane is a Libertarian and while he keeps his politics out of the ring he DOES have a very strong web presence IRL.

Did we get a lot of these types of protestations when JBL was injecting politics into everything, on and off-camera?
I didn't have a problem with what JBL was doing, by the way.

Punk said something stupid in response to a stupid comment, then he apologized for it. This isn't exactly a Gilbert Gottfried-level of Twitter controversy here.

While Punk's comments were out of place, at least he came out and said he was sorry and it was in the heat of the moment. Unlike some other Twitter Celebs who go on long rants only to claim afterwords their accounts were hacked. (Kurt Angle comes to mind)
The whole gay marriage issue is probably going to be one of the biggest non-issues within in the next decade. Marriage is quite simply not what it use to be. Marriage use to be a state of the church, then over the years it became a legal matter. When that happened it was no longer a church issue, but a legal one.
I for one am all for anyone who wants the government issued piece of paper that comes from any kind of marriage, and if two men or two women want to share in that together then all the power to them, as it should be their right to have the same rights and privileges that I am entitled too.
As for the issue of politics in wrestling. Right now I feel that it is a non-issue in this case. Punks comments never once happened while in a wrestling promo, on national TV, or while he was on WWE's time. It happened over Twitter, and really only effected those people in the IWC who chose to follow him. If the comments happened while Punk was in the ring, during a house show, or on Raw or Smackdown then he should be punished for the comments by his employer, but as the comments happened on his own time, in his own forum then the WWE should stay out of it, as it is his right to express free speech. Vince McMahon has always been one about the freedom of speech and by coming down hard on Punk he would be sending the wrong message to the rest of the locker room.

Vince has dragged politics and religion into wrestling all the time. He loves controversy. Punk didn't get busted with drugs or get drunk and punch someone. He told off an idiot. My friend's parents told her she should kill herself just because she's a lesbian. And they never apologized over it!
And the people 'with no brains' are those in NC who voted for this law. They can have all the opinions they want, but they just voted to take rights away from people, not to mention they burned themselves in the process. That's why I said they have no brains.
The best part about this is I doubt WWE will be wasting TV time talking about Twitter this week.

Actually Kane is a Libertarian and while he keeps his politics out of the ring he DOES have a very strong web presence IRL. Point is I don't know what he really is, because he doesn't bring it to my attention. I watch wrestling/TV to avoid real life issues like politics. Worst part is I'm avoiding all spoilers and I STILL come across this Punk nonsense. Punk said something stupid in response to a stupid comment, then he apologized for it. This isn't exactly a Gilbert Gottfried-level of Twitter controversy here. It's obviously subjective, but is saying "gross" and saying "drink bleach", "kill yourself" really so equal that they can casually be grouped together as "stupid comment(s)"? I can't agree that saying anything is gross is stupid. Why would it ever be? While Punk's comments were out of place, at least he came out and said he was sorry and it was in the heat of the moment. Unlike some other Twitter Celebs who go on long rants only to claim afterwords their accounts were hacked. (Kurt Angle comes to mind) Maybe I'm cynical, but I actually find the apology just as offensive as the personal attack. Obviously we know how he really feels (same with any celebrity that quickly backtracks from comments; see John Harbaugh of the Ravens). I'd also imagine the WWE came down hard on Punk, demanding an apology. Just the same as any big business does when an employee takes to FB or Twitter saying crazy shit. The whole gay marriage issue is probably going to be one of the biggest non-issues within in the next decade. Marriage is quite simply not what it use to be. Marriage use to be a state of the church, then over the years it became a legal matter. When that happened it was no longer a church issue, but a legal one. My stance in this thread has really nothing to do with my opinions on marriage, instead on Punk's comments. I would say the same if he came out and told someone pro-gay marriage person that "God hates gays" or "gays will go to hell" or something horrible like that. It's really just a stupid person issue, and nothing more. Punk is stupid. He's stupid for putting himself out there like that, he's stupid for showing how low-class and unintelligent he really is, and he's stupid for putting his high paying position in jeopardy. From a pure business perspective, he's really stupid for doing what he did. There are stupid people on each side of just about any debate. As for the issue of politics in wrestling. Right now I feel that it is a non-issue in this case. Punks comments never once happened while in a wrestling promo, on national TV, or while he was on WWE's time. It happened over Twitter, and really only effected those people in the IWC who chose to follow him. Sadly, I disagree. WWE (as has the rest of the world) has done so much to make Twitter a regular part of programming, we can no longer really separate the two. WWE is running angles on Twitter, online and we just have to deal with it. I wish the only way I ever had to read someone's twats was by going to twatter, but again, sadly, not true. WWE, ESPN and everyone else is happy to bring people's tweets to me via my TV and computer now. God dammit. This is the world we live in now, and it's one big stage for the world's stupidest people, like Punk, and like Angle. Wow, what a nightmare for corporate kings, who worked so hard to make their millions, only to have idiots like this running their mouths and putting their millions in jeopardy. Vince has dragged politics and religion into wrestling all the time. He loves controversy. Punk didn't get busted with drugs or get drunk and punch someone. He told off an idiot. Again, what makes this person an idiot? That he said he thought it was gross? I think people who don't shower are gross. That make me an idiot? My friend's parents told her she should kill herself just because she's a lesbian. And they never apologized over it! Sounds like your friends parents aren't very good parent's. Still has nothing to do with this story though. I understand it's tough to not let emotion play a part in this, but only when you take emotion out of the equation, can you start to see why this was not ok, in the least, no matter how many stories you have. I'm always uncomfortable when someone assumes their association with homosexuals (whether it be friends or whatever) makes their points more valid. As if the majority who oppose gay marriage simply do so because most of their friends are straight. I'd like to think we, as a society are more evolved than that. Maybe we aren't. Punk certainly isn't. As someone who seeks out information on a regular basis, I often try to play devils advocate with everything, especially my own views. It's when I can best understand the opposing side's views, can I best debate them. It's imo why most people prefer not to debate with me. You'll never catch me off guard, or stump me. If I enter a debate with you it is because I am well researched, and well prepared. Not just in the areas of my views, but my opponents also. In the end I usually get the "this isn't worth debating" white flag. Because --- most people don't take the time to do their research, or ever even try to understand the *other side*. Instead it's easier to name call, and point fingers, and leave it at that. That kind of reaction is reserved for the emotionally weak. I can sit here and tell you exactly why the pro gay marriage crowd believes the things they do, and I can tell you why the anti-gay marriage crowd feel the way they do, and in every area: fiscally, religiously, spiritually, emotionally, you name it. I understand every angle from the most highly researched, well informed all the way down to the slow-witted, emotion monkey who's best effort is a "F you!" reaction. Most pro and anti gay supporters cannot properly answer why each other disagree with each other without using brainwashing buzz words like "hate", "fear", "god", "hell", "bigot", "fags" and so on an so forth. I can sit here and properly, and intelligently tell you exactly why the religious right oppose gay marriage, and honestly, it has a lot more to do with feeling their rights are being disrespected, than it does with how gays choose to live their lives. But you'll rarely ever find a pro-gay advocate that can properly explain that. Because no one cares about rights that exist, only ones that don't. Personally, I believe in all pursuits of happiness. In life, love, with God, against God, whatever you feel is cool with me as long as 1) it helps you find happiness and 2) you aren't bothering anyone else in order to find that happiness. Sadly, for a lot of people, does their perceived happiness occur only when they find themselves the most angry, emotional and offended. Some people just like to wrap themselves up in drama and stress. It's rather insane, yet all to often an occurrence in today's "social media age" when the evil glow of your smart phone or facebook page is just begging you to share your latest stupid ass thought with the rest of the world. True happiness never comes as the expense of others happiness, and unfortunately, most people in the world do not grasp that concept, even in the slightest. Punk is the perfect example. He thinks he is doing right, he thinks he is causing change for the good, but all he is doing is adding fuel to the fire. What makes Punk different from the "bible beating bigots"? Nothing. The best part about this is I doubt WWE will be wasting TV time talking about Twitter this week. I hope you are right. I hope they stop using it all together. I hope one day it all goes away. Social Media is on par with a plague. That's a whole entire different thread though.
