I just read the first 100 issues of the Walking Dead Comic over the last few days (had a lot free time this week). And without spoiling anything for those of you who only watch the Television Series I have to admit that I absolutely love the comic and it is a great read. I highly recommend it for everyone as the comic series and the show differ greatly.

I read the comic before the show came along and it has always managed to blow my mind. There were at least 3-4 issues where I was genuinely appalled/shocked/sick/disturbed/unable to sleep because I was thinking about what if that really happened. Moving stuff. In the comic, nobody is safe and it is so much more violent and gory than AMC will ever let the show be. TV lets you portray the emotional scenes much easier than a few panels in a comic, but the comic still holds it own.

Definitely read, it is well worth your time. They have several trades and omnibus issues out now which makes it easier than unloading your wallet for all the back issues.

The 2nd 48 issue Compendium is being released in November, I think. I have only read through the first 48 issues so far. I was waiting for this to come out. How convenient that it comes out just before Christmas.

I have the first compendium as well but refuse to read past when they first see the prison. Just because from what I've read, there are enough similarities from comic to show, that I don't want to see any potential spoilers.

I thought about getting the Collected works, but I'm sticking just with the TV series for my TWD fix. I saw the 4 minute Season 3 trailer and Season 3 looks even better then S1 & S2...

I have all the hardcover editions in my collection. I love the comic, and it just feels empty now without collecting new TWD issues.
