In my opinion this was and is the best fed on this and any other boards. This fed needs to come back, as I (WE) need my (our) weekly NWF fix. Make it happen Mr. Dalton.... and on another note, you really need to bring yourself to Pittsburgh in July. Your presence at Galacticon is sorely missed.

*** MORE NWF BREAKING NEWS ***
Big News for SUMMER SHOWDOWN! The summer just got a little hotter with the announcement of two more matches for the NWF’s eighth annual August super show! Young phenom Terry “Magnum T.A.” Allen has worked his way into the Top 10 Rankings, but will face his toughest competition to date at SUMMER SHOWDOWN on August 18th. The incredibly popular star has signed to face former NWF Champion Terry Gordy in what should be a great contest. Manager Sir Oliver Humperdink doesn’t seem overly concerned, and hopes to end Magnum’s meteoric rise in front of the largest crowd of the year. In what should be a hotly contested rematch, the Masked Superstar will defend his newly won NWF Championship against former 6-time champ Steve “Dr. Death” Williams! The controversial involvement of Eddie Gilbert in the deciding moments of Superstar’s title victory has Williams even more bound and determined to recapture the gold. This time, Gilbert’s presence won’t be such a surprise. Doc is hoping to join Nick Bockwinkel (2005) and Jim Londos (2009) as the only men to win the title at SUMMER SHOWDOWN!

I fully realize this is just a card & dice game, but I try to book things as if I were booking an actual fed. That said, here's my philosophy on why you won't see Williams vs. Sheik: NWF rule: no one can hold more than one title at a time, so Williams vs. Sheik can't happen while both are champs. I don't want to do it as a non-title match, because I feel it would hurt the loser. If Williams loses, it hurts his credibility since he's really not the "top guy" that the title makes him out to be. If Sheik loses, it kills his aura as the unstoppable madman. I've never been a big fan of title versus title matches, although in "real" pro wrestling, you can book a match so that the loser comes out strong. Dice don't care, and routinely mess up your best laid plans. Been reading through your old results here and along with Booker Bill's stuff, this has been a favorite LWF fed of mine and while a decade old, I agree with everything said here. Ideally I'd love to book my feds as if I were an actual booker/promoter running a territory, but because, as you said "the dice don't care", I often default to the idea that when it comes to the game, its all a shoot and so end up booking things more as someone might if it were a legit combat sport rather than a work. I recall seeing house rules for adding pushes to the game to give things more of a 'worked' feel and the more I think about it, the more I think some sort of supplental ruleset for adding pushes to would be really cool. I realize adding that sort of thing would potentially fundamentally alter the way the game plays, but it would allow promoters a greater degree of control over how things played out in their fed on terms of booking programs and whatnot if they chose to incorporate such a ruleset into their fed.

Before anyone gets their hopes up, probably just going to post thru SUMMER SHOWDOWN to reach a better breaking point. Most of the work was already done, so it doesn't involve a lot of time and effort.

Thanks for reading. I put a lot of work into the NWF over the years. To clarify, I've always booked like it's legit sport and not worked. I like to think of my booking style as having a 70s to early 80s flavor. Wins and losses matter. Being the champ is a big deal, and you don't get title shots if you don't win. Depending on what you have in mind for supplemental rules for pushes, my knee-jerk reaction is that it would reduce your control, not enhance it. I don't like having to follow charts or rules when it comes to the booking aspect of the game. I enjoy the challenge of creatively booking your way out of situations you didn't want or expect. And I also like it when a "push" happens naturally after a couple of upset wins. I also understand that other promoters probably don't enjoy either of those situations at all.
