I don't really have a preference on the DiBiase cards, but the UWF version fits in better with my fed, especially using him as a babyface.

NWF RANKINGS As of April 30, 2008 NWF Champion: STEVE WILLIAMS (C) North American Champion: THE SHEIK (NA) 1. Curt Hennig (2) 2. Ivan Koloff (1) 3. Red Bastien (4) 4. Nick Bockwinkel (6) 5. Greg Valentine (8) 6. Ray Stevens (3) 7. Harley Race (5) 8. Ted DiBiase (7) 9. Bobby Eaton (10) 10. King Kong Mosca ( - ) NWF Tag-Team Champions: FABULOUS KANGAROOS (C) 1. Midnight Express (2) 2. Mad Dog Vachon & Jimmy Valiant (1) 3. Greg Valentine & Ivan Koloff (3) 4. Harley Race & Larry Hennig (5) 5. Ted DiBiase & Steve Williams ( - ) NOTES: With his first match against Steve Williams ending inconclusively, Curt Hennig moves up to the #1 contender spot. Bastien also moves up and now has two straight disqualification wins over The Sheik. Greg Valentine is on a good run, having won all six of his 2008 singles matches. Lou Albano’s latest addition, Angelo “King Kong” Mosca makes his debut at #10, so everyone is the stable is represented. The Kangaroos maintain their hold on the tag belts, with Jim Cornette’s Midnight Express taking over the #1 contender spot. With the Armstrong feud kicking in, the Midnights may not be focused on the tag belts right now. Speaking of the Armstrongs, Bob & Brad drop off the list as DiBiase & Williams come in at #5. They may be tough to beat, but with Williams’ commitments as NWF champ, a tag title shot isn’t in their future.

Card #278 – 05/02/2008 Akron Armory – Akron, OH
We’re back in Akron! After the last show at the Armory was a real stinker, crowds were expectedly down, even with The Sheik headlining. Hopefully this week’s show can win back the fans! Cross your fingers and let’s get to the action…
1. Cousin Luke b Larry Sharpe Solid opener with both men having several opportunities to win. Luke eventually came out on top after a falling splash from the second turnbuckle.
2. Brad Armstrong b Danny Doring Big comeback win for Armstrong! Doring attacked before the bell and had Brad in big trouble for most of the bout. Finally, Brad was able to regain his composure and go to work. Doring managed to survive two Russian Legsweeps, but a third one got the job done. After starting 3-1, Doring has come back to Earth, losing 4 of his last 5.
3. Mongols dq Samoan Island Tribe To no one’s surprise, this one ended in a DQ. Sir Oliver Humperdink had his savage new team ready to go against his former charges Samu & Alofa. Geeto was the key here, as his distraction of referee Izzy Moidel allowed huge Bepo to use his chains as a weapon twice during the contest. It wound up with Alofa and Geeto fighting outside the ring. Alofa was choking Geeto with the cord from the ring microphone and wouldn’t stop despite warnings by Moidel. Both teams looked like they were going to go at it after the bell, but Humperdink led his team back to the locker room.
4. Harley Race b Roy Heffernan It looks like Harley Race & Larry Hennig are next in line for a title shot at the unbeaten Kangaroos. Race started out strong, but Heffernan has been having some singles success of late and showed why. He had the former 3-time NWF champ in a couple of tough situation, but Race has been there before. Harley fought back, and overcame interference by Red Berry to win with the Piledriver.
5. Ted DiBiase & Jim Duggan b Ivan Koloff & King Kong Mosca Both Duggan and DiBiase struggled against powerful newcomer Mosca recently. Albano, whose entire stable is ranked in April’s Top 10 singles list, added Koloff to the mix to make things interesting in this tag contest. Things started off well for Albano’s combo, as they had DiBiase in trouble. Duggan made the big tag to turn things around. After a long period of back and forth action, DiBiase polished off Mosca with a punch from his Black Glove.
6. Bob Armstrong cor Tom Prichard Jim Cornette has been bragging all week about how he has the numbers advantage in this feud with the Armstrongs. Going into the match with Prichard, Bob told Cornette that advantage will go away next week, but didn’t elaborate any further. The match itself saw Cornette doing everything he could to help Prichard, but when ref Mark Curtis caught Cornette ready to nail Bob with the tennis racquet, he ejected the manager from ringside! After that, Prichard seemed lost. Bob worked him over to the point where a bloody Prichard just walked out, cursing and fluffing his hair all the way back to the locker room.
7. Ray Stevens b Larry Hennig Another group with a current numbers advantage is the Heenan Family. Bockwinkel, Stevens & Curt Hennig enjoy a 3 on 2 edge over Larry Hennig & Harley Race, but it appears Pepper Gomez has finished up his previous commitments and will debut in two weeks to even things up! This was a phenomenal bout and a 2008 Match of the Year candidate! Despite his injury, Hennig looked like an unstoppable powerhouse. Stevens looked good as well, but could never get in good position for his Bombs Away. Just a tremendous match with numerous near falls that had the fans on the edge of their seats. After a double clothesline sent both men to the canvas, it was Stevens who got to his feet first. Although it wasn’t one for the textbooks, he used a piledriver to finally put the big man away.
8. Mad Dog Vachon & Jimmy Valiant dq Midnight Express Former tag champs Vachon & Valiant were looking to end the six match unbeaten streak of the Eaton/Condrey incarnation of the Midnight Express. Cornette has been telling his team to keep the winning streak alive, as he feels some competitive pressure from the 14-0 Kangaroos. It looked like things would go the Midnight’s way, as they used some questionable double-teaming to get the best of both Mad Dog & Boogie. It came down to Valiant and Condrey slugging it out in the ring. Cornette tossed Condrey the tennis racquet, but referee Andy DePaul turned around in time to see Loverboy Dennis smack Valiant and called for the DQ.
9. North American Championship: The Sheik b Red Bastien (Falls Count Anywhere) After getting two DQ wins over The Sheik in their previous meetings, Bastien had his work cut out for him in a match that seemed like it was tailor made for the Syrian madman. The brawl went all over the arena, and even into the rulebreakers’ locker room! It was there that Bastien got some unexpected help from Greg Valentine! Sheik plowed into Valentine during the skirmish, and the Hammer retaliated by bodyslamming the champ! Still, it wasn’t enough for the scrappy Bastien. While making a fiery comeback, Bastien missed a flying cross body from the top rope. Sheik pounced on the downed and bloody Bastien and locked in the Camel Clutch for the win. When Sheik makes his next scheduled title defense on 5/23 in Utica, his reign will be at an amazing 399 days!
Let’s hope everyone can get through customs, because next week we’re headed north of the border to Niagara Falls, Canada! Here’s the current lineup:
* Bob Armstrong says he’s got someone to help him in his feud against Jim Cornette! We’ll see what the Bullet has in store when he unveils his surprise next week!
* It’s a big rematch between the Samoan Island Tribe and the Mongols! Humperdink has signed his new team to a series of tag and singles matches against the Samoans to prove his new team is superior in every way!
* Loverboy Dennis Condrey is going to pay the price for whacking Jimmy Valiant with the tennis racquet earlier tonight! The Boogie Woogie Man will have a singles match against Condrey next week to get his revenge!
* The Armstrongs will be in tag action as they face the Cornette pairing of Bobby Eaton & Tom Prichard! Eaton & Prichard have had their differences in the past, but Cornette claims the hatchet has been buried and the two are ready to work together! We’ll find out how compatible they’ve become next week!
* The tag-team match this week between Ted DiBiase & Jim Duggan and Ivan Koloff & King Kong Mosca will break down into two singles bouts next week! Duggan will face Mosca while DiBiase squares off against Koloff!
* Your big main event will feature Steve “Dr. Death” Williams defending the NWF Title against Curt Hennig! Williams got a countout win last time they met, and is looking for a more decisive victory this time. Hennig is trying to bring the title back to the Heenan Family, and has been training with former champ Nick Bockwinkel to prepare! Can Hennig join Frank A. Gotch and Don Leo Jonathan as grapplers who have won titles in Canada or will Doc extend his extraordinary 250+ day title reign?
Only seven days until the next great NWF event in Ontario!

Great card! I like Valentine's involvement in the main event. Do you think the Canadian border patrol will allow Cousin Luke to take moonshine across the border?

Card #279 – 05/09/2008 Memorial Coliseum – Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada
We’re back in the Great White North for another big show! Bob Armstrong unveils his “surprise” for Jim Cornette, the Samoans and Mongols tangle again and Steve Williams defends the NWF Title against Heenan protégé Curt Hennig! Let’s get to the action…
1. Brian Armstrong b “Pretty Boy” Larry Sharpe Well, it looks like the Armstrong / Cornette feud now has three members on each side! Bullet Bob introduced his youngest son Brian as the newest member of the NWF! In his debut match, Brian won quickly with a DDT. Jim Cornette was reportedly very upset in the locker room, having lost the numbers advantage over his rivals.
2. Dennis Condrey b Jimmy Valiant The Boogie Woogie Man took a wicked shot from Cornette’s tennis racquet last week. The man who delivered the blow was Condrey, so the two were destined to square off. With the help of Jim Cornette, Condrey was able to keep Valiant’s attention split. Referee Izzy Moidel missed some Cornette interference that led to a Face First Legsweep to keep Condrey’s singles record spotless thus far in 2008.
3. Samoan Island Tribe dq Mongols After their initial meeting last week, you knew the sparks were going to fly between these teams! This got wild right away as Samu & Alofa got the better of Bepo Mongol. The rule breaking escalated and Geeto turned things around. It wasn’t long before Bepo used the chains to smash Samu right in front of referee Andy DePaul for the DQ.
4. Jim Duggan dq King Kong Mosca In an odd twist, Mosca was a huge fan favorite and Duggan received a mixed reaction. While Mosca is originally from the U.S., he made a huge name for himself as the bad boy of the Canadian Football League, and is very popular on this side of the border. Duggan, with his strong patriotic appeal, is not much of a hit outside the United States. This one saw Duggan and Mosca trade power moves and brawl until Capt. Lou Albano got involved on Mosca’s behalf. Referee Paddy Grimes DQ’d Mosca based on Albano’s actions, which drew a chorus of boos from the partisan crowd.
5. Harley Race b Al Costello With next week’s tag title match on the horizon, this bout had a little extra meaning to it. Great match as Costello started off well and had Race in big trouble. Race managed a comeback, and Costello looked to be down and out before getting some help from manager Wild Red Berry. Race hung tough and fought up, using his second Piledriver of the match for the win. After winning his first two singles bouts, Costello has dropped seven decisions in a row.
6. Bobby Eaton & Tom Prichard cor Bob & Brad Armstrong In addition to the normal Armstrong / Cornette drama, there was the sub-plot of Prichard being able to work with Eaton. Cornette was already in a frenzy due to the addition of Brian Armstrong to the mix. Still, the Louisville Slugger made the difference in the end. Clearly, there is still some heat between Eaton & Prichard despite what Cornette is saying. They almost took pleasure in seeing the other man in trouble, and each refused a tag more than once. Still, there was reluctant cooperation. The Armstrongs seemed to have this one in the bag until Bullet Bob and Eaton were fighting outside the ring. Cornette tried to sneak attack Bob with the tennis racquet, but it didn’t work! Bob took it away and chased the cowardly manager around the ring, and couldn’t beat referee Mark Curtis’ ten count.
7. Ted DiBiase b Ivan Koloff Big match for both men. DiBiase was winless in his last four bouts and Koloff was under consideration for a future NWF Title shot. This was a fantastic back and forth match. Albano did everything he could to give Koloff an advantage. At one point, the Russian Bear had DiBiase pinned, but Hacksaw Jim Duggan distracted Koloff giving his teammate time to recover. Koloff was frustrated, and even resorted to using his chains as a weapon for the first time in months. NWF officials had been considering a ban on chains and other weapons, but that matter seemed to get tabled when Koloff stopped using them. The action stayed hot and heavy until DiBiase took command and decked Koloff with his Black Glove for the win. It was Koloff’s first pinfall loss of 2008.
8. Flying Redheads b Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens Because of Lyons, the Redheads are huge favorites in Canada. This was an all-time classic as Bockwinkel & Stevens were constantly in trouble, but would somehow survive. Heenan was all over the place interfering, distracting and causing chaos. By the end of the bout everyone was bloodied and Stevens’ face was a disaster. The Redheads used their aerial tactics to keep Heenan’s team off balance. All four men were exhausted after the fast paced and hard hitting action, and when Bastien caught Bockwinkel with a beautiful flying body press for the pinfall, the crowd exploded with a standing ovation! After the match, Lyons got the microphone and informed the fans that the Redheads would be leaving the NWF at the end of the month. Bastien would be headed to Texas, and Lyons said he would be returning to Canada to wrestle full-time in and around Ontario. Both noted that they enjoyed their time in the NWF, and would only be a phone call away if they were needed.
9. NWF Championship: Curt Hennig b Steve Williams to win title Williams had gotten a countout victory over Hennig in their first meeting, but was looking for a more decisive win here. What he got was a group effort by the Heenan Family to take the title back. Both Bockwinkel & Stevens eventually made their way to ringside after getting patched up by the medical staff after the last bout. That brought DiBiase & Duggan out from the locker room as well. Hennig continually used the sleeper to wear Doc down. Williams struggled, but got a very close near fall with an Oklahoma Stampede out of nowhere. That put Hennig back on his heels, and the two were trading the advantage for a long time. The finish was wild. DiBiase & Duggan were brawling with Bockwinkel & Stevens outside the ring. While referee Izzy Moidel was trying to break that up, Heenan handed Hennig some type of doughnut shaped object. Hennig slipped the object over the toe of his boot and nailed the bloody champ with a standing dropkick! Williams was out like a light, and Moidel turned around in time to see Hennig go for the cover. He got the three count to end the Williams’ long reign as champion and bring the title “home” to the Heenan Family.
A startling announcement by the Flying Redheads and then NWF history is made in Canada! Williams’ title reign goes into the books as the 5th longest in NWF history at 252 days (tied w/Don Leo Jonathan’s 2nd North American title run). The only person to hold the NWF Title longer is Nick Bockwinkel. It is the first time the NWF Title has changed hands outside the United States. It looks like we begin the “Curt Hennig Era,” as Heenan refers to it, next week in Weirton, West Virginia! Here’s the current lineup:
* After a great win for the Heenan Family, they get some bad news next week! It’s the debut of Pepper Gomez! Gomez and Ray Stevens have some serious bad blood from their days in Northern California! Look for that to spill over into the NWF! Gomez is known for his unequalled abdominal strength – will that help him reach the top in the NWF?
* Greg Valentine has been named as the next challenger for The Sheik’s North American crown! The short-lived association between Lou Albano and Abdullah Farouk in 2007 went out the window once Capt. Lou’s men started getting high in the rankings. Valentine will have a “tune-up” match next week before his big showdown!
* The Samoan Island Tribe will again clash with the Mongols as Sir Oliver Humperdink tries to prove his decision to dump the Samoans was a good one! Whoever draws referee duty for that one should get combat pay!
* There are two rematches signed involving Lou Albano’s men! Hacksaw Jim Duggan will once again lock horns with big King Kong Mosca! These two have traded victories in what has become a hotly contested feud between two former football players! The other match will see Albano lead the “Russian Bear” Ivan Koloff into battle with Ted DiBiase! Koloff will look to avenge his only pinfall loss of 2008 next week!
* The Armstrong / Cornette feud will be on display in two great matches! First, patriarch Bob Armstrong will face the “Doctor of Desire” Tom Prichard in singles action! Then, Cornette’s Midnight Express will face Brad & Brian Armstrong in a tag-team match! Bullet Bob has started calling his group “Armstrong’s Army,” and Jim Cornette knows this will be a war of attrition as every arena is looking to sign matches between the factions!
* Your big main event will see the Fabulous Kangaroos put their perfect record and tag belts on the line against Harley Race & Larry Hennig! Hennig is still slowed by an injury, but says he’s going to give the Kangaroos everything he’s got to win the NWF tag-team gold!
See you next week at the West Virginia Northern Community College gym in Weirton!

Really exciting card, and as always, a great easy to read write-up. That's probably the #1 thing that draws my interest in reading this fed. There are alot of incredible feds on this board, but the way most are written up is just too difficult on the eyes.
Anywho, looking forward to what's next.

Card #280 – 05/16/2008 WV Northern Community College Gym – Weirton, WV
After a history making show last week, we head to West Virginia! We’ve got the debut of Pepper Gomez, more between the Samoans & Mongols and more between Armstrong’s Army & Jim Cornette! Our headliner sees Harley Race & Larry Hennig looking to join the Valiants and Road Warriors as teams who have won tag gold in Weirton! Let’s get to the action…
1. Greg Valentine dq George South Valentine was using South as a “tune-up” match before his North American Title challenge against The Sheik next week. Abdullah Farouk made an appearance at ringside, causing Valentine to momentarily lose his focus. South used a suplex and almost pinned the distracted Valentine. That near fall only served to anger “the Hammer,” who dominated the rest of the bout. He locked South in the Figure 4 Leglock and was about to get the submission when The Sheik stormed the ring! He knocked Albano over and attacked! The Syrian madman pounded his lethal pointy object into Valentine several times before Greg could untangle his legs from South. Sheik and Farouk quickly left as soon as it appeared Valentine was starting to fight up.
2. Pepper Gomez b Danny Doring Doring’s self-proclaimed “year of greatness” isn’t exactly going as planned. Newcomer Pepper Gomez, invited to the NWF by Harley Race & Larry Hennig, made short work of Dastardly Danny, using the stomach claw repeatedly before putting him away with a criss cross smash. Gomez, who had a legendary feud with Ray Stevens in the San Francisco area, is wasting no time reigniting the fire! He challenged Heenan’s enforcer to a bout next week!
3. Mongols dq Samoan Island Tribe To the surprise of…no one…this match didn’t have a decisive ending. These two wild teams just went at it from the opening bell. After trading punches and moves for several minutes with several near DQ’s, Alofa yanked referee Andy DePaul out of the ring and face first to the floor as he started to count Samu down after a Mongolian Drop. That was the last straw for DePaul, who DQ’d the Samoans.
4. Steve Williams b Larry Sharpe It’s been a rough week for Dr. Death. After losing the NWF Title to Curt Hennig, he’s had to adjust to the role of challenger. He could have taken a couple weeks off to prepare for the return bout in Johnstown at the end of the month, but chose instead to jump back in the ring. That was bad news for “Pretty Boy” Larry Sharpe. Williams just steamrolled Sharpe, winning quickly with the Oklahoma Stampede. Doc looked ready and determined for the rematch with Hennig.
5. Midnight Express b Brad & Brian Armstrong Brian Armstrong is jumping right into the mix! Unfortunately, about halfway through the bout, Brian got trapped in the Midnight’s corner and was pounded. After being busted wide open, the youngest Armstrong managed to make the tag to Brad. The problem was that with Brian so messed up, Brad would have to carry the remainder of the match. He did a great job despite having to worry not only about Eaton & Condrey, but Cornette as well. Still, it was too much to overcome, and he was pinned by Eaton after a Midnight Massacre. Bullet Bob came out waving a baseball bat to make sure no further damage was done to his boys.
6. Jim Duggan b King Kong Mosca It was another battle between these two brawlers. Mosca started strong, but Duggan seemed to feed off the “U.S.A.” chants from the crowd. He made a comeback and that was pretty much it for Mosca. Big Nasty was tough to beat, but Duggan used a standing bearhug then took Mosca down to the mat with it for the pin.
7. Tom Prichard b Bob Armstrong A clean sweep this week for Cornette! Armstrong had control of the action until being distracted by Cornette and missing a flying cross body attempt and crashing to the mat. Prichard followed up with a top rope elbow for the win. Both the Midnight Express and Armstrong brothers hit the ring after the bell and a small melee (maybe just a fracas) broke out. Referee Mark Curtis wound up in the middle of things. Tempers were raging, but no one wound up hurt.
8. Ted DiBiase dcor Ivan Koloff Last week Koloff was pinned for the first time in 2008 by DiBiase. This week he was after some revenge. Koloff put a serious beating on DiBiase (7 fatigue) who wound up a mess. Koloff has gone back to using his chains as a weapon whenever he can. He got away with it twice, as referee Izzy Moidel was distracted by Albano. This was one hell of a brawl with both men letting it all hang out. Both escaped the other’s finisher multiple times and were throwing haymakers. It wound up with both rolling around on the arena floor firing punches at one another. Neither was able to get back to the ring to beat Moidel’s count. Actually, neither seemed to care.
9. NWF Tag-Team Championship: Fabulous Kangaroos b Harley Race & Larry Hennig It wasn’t the best timing for a title shot as far as Race & Hennig were concerned. The Axe was still nursing a physical injury, plus had to deal with the emotional trauma of seeing his son win the NWF Title while being managed by a hated enemy. The Kangaroos were all over Hennig at the bell. The big man was finally able to make the tag, but had taken a pounding in the process. Race was able to return the favor to Heffernan, and Hennig almost pinned Costello with The Axe later in the match. Late in the contest it was a toss up as far as who looked fresher. All four were weary, but the Kangaroos had enough gas left in the tank to hit the Boomerang on Race to get the win and push their record to a pristine 15-0 since their arrival.
Wow – the Kangaroos are just knocking off contenders left and right! The Midnight Express look like the hottest team right now, but when asked about going after the titles, Cornette said he was certain the Express could beat the ‘Roos at any time, but was more concerned with driving the Armstrongs out of the area and back to Georgia. The Armstrongs may not be going to Georgia, but they are headed to Utica next week for the next big NWF show! Here’s the current lineup:
* Pepper Gomez isn’t taking the easy road into the NWF! He’s challenged old rival Ray Stevens right off the bat! Stevens wouldn’t agree to a singles match, so Pepper will have to settle for tag-team action! He’ll team with Harley Race against Stevens and Nick Bockwinkel next week!
* Maybe the third time will be the charm for these two singles matches! For the third week in a row, you’ll have Hacksaw Jim Duggan facing King Kong Mosca while Ted DiBiase takes on the Russian Bear Ivan Koloff! It seems like these guys just can’t get enough of one another in the ring!
* Speaking of rematches, you’ll also see the next installment of the Samoan Island Tribe against the Mongols! These wild teams haven’t had a match end in a pinfall yet! Can someone finally pick up a decisive win next week?
* Armstrong’s Army will be represented by Brian Armstrong as he looks to put the first blemish on Dennis Condrey’s perfect 2008 singles record! Condrey did quite a number on Brian this week during the tag match! Can the youngest Armstrong turn things around for his family, or will Jim Cornette’s threesome continue their winning ways?
* The Heenan Family will be involved in two tag matches next week! The second will feature new NWF Champion Curt Hennig teaming with manager Bobby Heenan to face former champ Steve Williams & Larry “the Axe” Hennig! This will be only the second meeting of the Hennigs since the split! This one will be a barnburner fans!
* Your big main event will see The Sheik try to take his North American Title reign past the 400 day mark as he defends against Greg “the Hammer” Valentine! Albano has led Valentine to a 14-4 singles record spanning 2007 and 2008, with three of the losses to then NWF Champ Steve Williams! It seems like we ask this every time, but can Valentine be the man to finally topple Sheik and become the new North American champ?
All this and more great action is coming your way next week in Utica!
