Week #22Big House Show 5/25/1985 Philadelphia, PA - The Spectrum Bout #1: WWF World Tag Team Championship Match The Young Stallions vs. The Hart Foundation (c) - The Stallions looked weak, as the Harts dominated. Bret scored the pin after they nailed the Hart Attack. Bout #2: Rowdy Roddy Piper (w/ Orton) vs. Tony Atlas - Atlas used his power to push around the smaller Piper. Orton jumped up on the ring and Atlas goes after him. Piper ties up the ref, as Orton nails a solid shot to Tony's mouth and Piper raced over and slapped on the Sleeper for the win. Bout #3: Inter-promotional Match Andre the Giant vs. Bad News Allen - A good bout, as both men landed a lot of offense. Andre used his Big Boot to take the win. Bout #4: David Sammartino vs. Tonga Kid - David won with his Powerslam in this quick bout. Bout #5: Inter-promotional Bout British Bulldogs & Barry Windham vs. Antonio Inoki, Tiger Mask, & The Cobra - A great, athletic match here, as all 6 men showed why they are top superstars. Inoki locked his Octopus Hold on Barry for the win. Bout #6: WWF Intercontinental Championship Match Dick Murdoch vs. Ricky Steamboat (c) - Steamboat looked great again and used his Flying Crossbody to retain his belt. Bout #7: Paul Orndorff vs. Bob Orton, Jr - Bob looked great, but was unable to score the pinfall. Piper came out and was rooting for Bob. Piper tried interfere, but Paul nailed him with a huge clothesline. Paul then used the Piledriver to pin Orton. Main Event Bout #8: Jesse Ventura & Adrian Adonis vs. Junkyard Dog & Billy Graham - An outstanding tag match broke out here, as all four men left it all in the ring. Ventura nailed Graham with a chain while the ref was busy with JYD and Adonis. Adonis made the tag and nailed the DDT on Billy. Adonis scored the pinfall on Graham.

Thanks. I am working on week #23 now. There are some big cards coming up, including the King of the Ring (actual card from Foxboro, Mass) and the first show ever at the Cow Palace.

Week #23Big House Show 5/27/1985 Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Maple Leaf Gardens Bout #1: Barry Windham vs. Ken Patera - A great opener, as these two put on a great bout. Back and forth, both men battled and tried to impose their wills. In the end, Barry used his Bulldog to win. Bout #2: Inter-promotional Match Antonio Inoki & Bad News Allen vs. Ivan Putski & Tony Atlas - Another good bout, as all four men looked good. Allen and Inoki used sound mat wrestling to take the advantage and win when Inoki used the Octopus Hold to go over Tony. Bout #3: WWF Intercontinental Championship Match The Iron Sheik vs. Ricky Steamboat (c) - The former world champion started hot and Steamboat had to bail out to save his hide. Steamboat came back and used his fast style to score a win with a sunset flip. Bout #4: Adrian Adonis & Jesse "The Body" Ventura vs. Junkyard Dog & "Superstar" Billy Graham - A great battle here, as these four men showed that they were going to outdo each other. Bob Orton and Roddy Piper started to come towards the ring when Paul Orndorff attacked Piper. Orton broke away and hid by the ring apron. Jesse and JYD were tied up with the ref, so he never saw Orton nail Superstar with his cast and Adrian nailed the DDT to take the tainted win. -- INTERMISSION -- Bout #5: Paul Orndorff & Hillbilly Jim vs. Roddy Piper & Bob Orton, Jr - This match was hot from the start. The fans were spewing venom at Piper and Orton, and loved it when Paul nailed Orton with the Piledriver for the win. Bout #6: Bull Rope Match Terry Funk vs. Blackjack Mulligan - This was a brutal bloodbath, as these men used the rope and the cow bell to butcher each other. Funk nailed Mulligan with his branding iron and then choked out Mulligan with the rope. Funk tagged all four corners for the win. Bout #7: Pedro Morales vs. The Missing Link - The former IC champion never got his footing against the crazy man. Link used his Flying Headbutt to win. Main Event Bout #8: WWF Tag Team Championship Bout The British Bulldogs vs. The Hart Foundation (c) - This was a true tag team classic, as all four men showed that they are all great wrestlers. Bret and Dynamite had a solid exchange and both showed that they are top junior heavyweights. Davey Boy and Anvil battled and each scored several close falls. Bret and Davey had a great exchange as well, but it was Dynamite who scored the pinfall on Bret after a backbreaker, while Davey nailed Anvil, as the Bulldogs won the tag team championships. The fans nearly blew the roof off the building with the win.

All right! New Tag Team champions! I was a big British Bulldogs fan when I was little; I'm glad to see them take the titles here.

Just curious about something - you say the fans blew the roof off the building with the win but the match was in Canada. It's common knowledge now that even heels (Y2J, Edge, etc.) get cheered in their homeland. Do any of our Canadians know when that started or would the Bulldogs have been the heels in Canada that far back?? I would guess that since it was 85 that the heels would be booed no matter what. I was one of the early ones who would root for the better character. I hated Hogan way back then and one time I went to a house show and think I was the only one in the arena openly cheering for Studd and Bundy over the Machines (I was not an Andre fan either)

I've seen Bret and I believe Steamboat from Toronto from around 86-87, and Bret was booed then.

Also a title change is always a big thing.
