. Chikara really needs to do a better job of getting their stories out there for all to see. Other than the super loyal Chikara followers I doubt many people had any clue what was going on through all of the Wrestling Is... promotions and the Ashes videos. I tried finding some of that stuff on the Chikara forums but they are forums so stuff gets buried. If you are so passionate about telling a storyline then tell a story and make it accessible. If I were Chikara I would have a section of the website devoted to explaining all of the storylines that have happened since its inception. I agree. It may be a great story, but if a majority of the people do not understand it, then is it really a great story? Quack talks about Chikara not being everyone's type of ice cream. What can you do if you don't even understand how to eat the ice cream? How is a person to know if they like it or not? Very well said. That's exactly how I feel.

Well here's a place to start. theashesof.com/The website also is updated to give the back-story. "Dusk - Darkness - Dawn" www.chikarapro.com/I listened to the Quack interview on Colt's podcast. I wasn't expecting to hear a total explanation of the situation. He did state that he's lost money every "season" since the second one which is something that you hear from many Indy feds over the years. So regardless of the reason, be it personal or not he was able to try to tell a unique story that couldn't be attempted in a conventional federation. Weather it worked or not is up to individual interpretation. He mentioned several times that he doesn't care about making money. He referenced the "art" of his job and that he was more interested in pushing something unique and worthwhile in his view. Good for him that he's in a position to just do what he wants. The ice cream example was a bit overdone but it's also seemed clear to me that he thinks the people that will get it, will get it. Not exactly the best business model but it's what he's interested in doing. Overall I enjoyed following the videos and seeing how it would play out. Apparently others did too since the reboot show has almost 1,000 tickets sold. On the other hand I totally understand how Chikara can alienate people. Quack said so himself with the Doctor Who reference. Where do you start with something like that? I think that this reboot of Chikara 2.0 is a great place to begin if you are just starting out.

Yes, I have seen those new story explanation on their site. I hope they keep it up or else everyone will be in the same position in 6 months time. I found the Ashes story extremely hard to follow while Chikara was down. Every so often I would catch a video and then I would be back in the dark again for months. Just sort of spit balling here but it seems to me that it would have made it easier for more casual fans to follow if Icarus had hijacked the Chikara Twitter feed and posted those Ashes videos directly to that so that casual fans looking for an update didn't have to scour the internet to find small bits of info. They could just go where they have always gone. This could also have been where we found out what was going on with the Wrestling Is promotions. That's all in the past now, though. Hopefully they do a better job in the future allowing casual fans a way to keep up with what is going on if they don't order every single iPPV and DVD Chikara puts out. When I watch full Chikara shows I typically enjoy myself. And when I read the storylines that have progressed throughout a number of Chikara shows I enjoy what I am reading. So, I'd love to follow Chikara via their website updates and short video clips.

I subscribe to the Wrestling Is YouTube channel so I saw all of the Ashes stuff as it came out but as far as the actual Wrestling Is shows I had no idea what was going on. I heard that the old Chikara villains were showing up and shutting down shows and it sounded interesting but it wasn't very accessible.
I totally agree that a better job should have been done to inform the casual fan. (snarky comment coming: beware!) Maybe Quack only wants his 'real' fans to be in the know.

I won't make further comment about the general tone of Quack's interview. If Quack wants to keep Chikara for his own amusement, not draw a dime for nearly one year, and just entertain/amuse the Chikarmy, well he is welcome too. That said, he should not be shocked when his fan base fails to grow.
I am just happy Chikara is back so the guys have more places they can work. A healthy indy scene is good for the entire wrestling industry.

So on the subject of Saturyne/Hania, it would seem she's not going to be back in Chikara so no new game card.

Quack could pull a Sin Cara and put another girl under the mask. Preferably one that has a huge tattoo which obviously makes it a different person.

I will admit, they don't always make it the easiest to follow Chikara, especially during that off time period. But honestly I believe is by design, as they want to reward fans who involve themselves more deeply into the universe. I was able to follow everything fine through the Wrestling Is Channel and following the Chikara Special twitter feed. Another great resource is the Chikara in 15 minutes weekly news podcast started by my friend Babs. Really helped break alot of the story down that was collected from lots of places. Check it out here: ci15.podomatic.com/

Didn't know about the Chikara in 15 podcast, I'll have to look into that. If you're interested enough in something, especially nowadays, there are resources to obtain the info you're seeking. You just need to know where to find it, and true maybe Quack could make it a bit easier to do just that. But like Ex said, maybe he figures the 'diehard' Chikara fans know where to look and how to follow along, and that's all he's concerned about.
