Well this brawl certainly turned out better than the last one for Greinke. Between that brawl and the Sox-Rays, things got testy for a bit in baseball.

The Mets got a 4-3 walk-off win over the Cubs today with two homeruns in the bottom of the ninth. By God as my witness they won a game This has been the worst season in a long time but a bright spot is that Zack Wheeler is joining the rotation this week and with Matt Harvey already a proven commodity hopefully it will be something to build on.

Yeah, Zack Wheeler pitched some great games for the Mets AAA team (the Las Vegas 51s) here in Las Vegas. Wheeler and Harvey could give the Mets a solid 1-2 top of the rotation for years.

Quietly enjoying the Pirates' season. The trick is just keep going like we have, stay there after the all-star break and make a move. Gerrit Cole looking impressive in his first 2 MLB starts beating Tim Lincecum and Zack Greinke. Jason Grilli is 25 for 25 in save opportunities.

Personally I'd like to see all three NL Central teams make the playoffs with either the Reds or Pirates catching the Cards, and the other team knocking the Cards out of the one game playoff.

Forgot to mention that I went to the Saturday game in Baltimore to see the Red Sox take on the Orioles, as has been my custom going eight years or so whenever the Red Sox visit Baltimore on a weekend. Unlike recent years, with the Orioles now being good again, O's fans actually come to the game so Camden Yards is Fenway South no longer... seriously, there was a time when there were three Red Sox jerseys for every Orioles jersey in town and fans would cheer Let's Go Red Sox and boo every time the Orioles got a hit.
Sox won that day, but O's took three of four. I think the O's may even win the division because Boston is still playing over expectations, and Baltimore just has too torrid of an offense to stop with Crush Davis and Manny Machado having the breakout years they are having.

Harvey and Wheeler were incredible for the Mets today. They swept the Braves in a doubleheader at Turner Field in Atlanta, a place which has been a house of horrors for the Mets. Harvey had 13 k's to go along with 7 k's from Wheeler. A great day to be a Mets fan, something I haven't been able to say too much this year. I think you are right, Vegas, as Wheeler and Harvey could be a great 1-2 punch for years. A happy day for a change

A happy day for a change I was actually at the game tonight in Philadelphia where I saw your Mets defeat the Phillies 4-3. Cruefan68, although I don't know how close you are to Maryland, are you joining us in Baltimore tomorrow for the ROH IPPV Best in the World?

No I won't be able to make that Vegas but I hope you have a great time. It was nice that you got to see a rare Mets victory in 2013
