The Aries - Steen rivalry is picking up steam! And their promos just add to the intensity... Great stuff!
Roster vacancy? Hmmm... I know who I'm hoping to see... But, it's probably a longshot...
Looking forward to the upcoming shows... Super entertainment!

Crimson Cross, Pariah - Thanks, as always, for reading and commenting! PWIS Chicago Teamster Auditorium Chicago IL August 3, 2014 INTRO Last time on PWIS Chicago: Ladies Night continued their winning ways as the dominant force in Chicago. Robert Anthony won the PWIS Mid-Western Championship in a triple-threat match against Kevin Steen and 2 Cold Scorpio. Anthony also resumed his taunting of Kenny King. (Joe Dombrowski and Adam Pearce are calling the action) The crowd is buzzing for tonight’s show. The bass thump of club music plays over the sound system. Ladies Night MC, Krissy, comes through the curtain raising her arms up and down trying to pump the crowd up. The reaction is not what she expects and she receives a smattering of boos. “If this isn't the limpest crowd I've ever seen... (stronger boos) I guess it’s because they’ll let anyone in here. (more jeers) I mean, where’s the cocktails, the dancing, the beautiful people? This place bums me out.” The crowd really starts to get on her case and a ‘You’re a crack whore!’ chant starts up. Krissy gets over-dramatic and looks like she’s on the verge of tears when Val Venis comes out. He covers her ears and fires back at the crowd. Krissy pleads to Val. “I want to go back to the club.” Val ushers Krissy back through the curtain and makes his way to the ring, berating the fans the whole time. ADAM: “What a disgusting display! Who do these people think there are treating a gorgeous creature like Krissy like that?!” JOE: “Voicing their opinion comes with the price of their ticket, Adam.” ADAM: “Well, it shouldn't!” MATCH #1
Kip James vs. Val Venis The crowd pops big for James’ entrance and he sets the pace, knocking Val around the ring. A missed charge leaves Kip vulnerable to Venis’ reverse figure four. He looks close to giving but makes it to the ropes. Val mounts the corner and connects with a Money Shot for a near fall. James comes close to tapping again from another reverse figure four. Val works Kip over some more and finishes him with a second Money Shot. Krissy comes back out to congratulate her man, throwing it in the fans faces. More observant viewers catch Krissy eyeing Kip with some interest. Winner: Val Venis
MATCH #2 Eddie Kingston vs. Jerry Lynn The fans show a lot of respect and appreciation for Lynn but they aren't sure how to take the surly Kingston. Jerry’s agility proves a handful for Eddie who takes a powder. Lynn doesn't let up, nailing Kingston with a clothesline from the apron, almost leading to a count out. Eddie proves to be tougher than a two dollar steak and uses his size advantage to make a comeback. After a series of lariats, Kingston executes a backdrop driver for the win.
Winner: Eddie Kingston MATCH #3Buff Bagwell & Rhett Titus w/Brutus Beefcake vs. Super Crazy & Icarus
Super Crazy and Icarus wait patiently in the ring as the Ladies Night team strut and gyrate around ringside. Brutus encourages the female fans to stuff dollar bills into his team’s trunks but there aren't many takers. Crazy goes right after Bagwell and Buff keeps trying to tag out. A tilt-a-whirl backbreaker sets up a pin attempt by Crazy but Rhett breaks it up. After taking some shots from Icarus, Buff finally manages to make the tag. Rhett and Buff isolate Icarus and a Buff Blockbuster brings Super Crazy in for the save. As the ref ushers Crazy from the ring, Titus comes in without a tag and gives Icarus a Muff Driver. The ref hesitates but it’s still enough to get the three count.
ADAM: “Now that’s teamwork!”
JOE: “And an illegal tag.”
ADAM: “No one asked your opinion!”
Winners: Buff Bagwell & Rhett Titus
Intermission: PWIS Mid-Western Champion, Robert Anthony, is sitting backstage lacing his books. He spots his opponent for tonight, Kenny King, walking by. ROBERT: “Hey! Hey, Kenny!”
King does a double-take and glares in Anthony’s direction.
Robert: “It’s not too late to back out, you know. Might save you some embarrassment out there tonight.”
KENNY: “If you’re so sure of yourself, why don’t you put that nice, shiny belt on the line, then?”
ROBERT: “Nah. I sorta see this as a workout. I wanna keep it light.”
KENNY: “I am so looking forward to shutting your mouth…”
ROBERT: “Kenny. How do feel about your boyfriend, Rhett, dumping you for an older man?”
King makes a move towards Anthony but restrains himself. He nods his head, pointing at Anthony then leaves. Robert chuckles to himself and goes back to tying his boots.
MATCH #4
J.D. Michaels vs. Danny Doring Danny Doring's rapport with the crowd is polarized by Michaels’ arrogance.
ADAM: “We’re not in the club this month, so Doring won't be able to mooch beers from the fans.”
Michaels uses a barrage of kicks to take Doring apart. Danny fights back with some kicks of his own but Michaels regains control and gets a near fall after a Top Rope Elbow Drop. He goes for his finisher a second time and Doring kicks out again. Climbing to the top rope for a third time, J.D. dives at Doring as he gets to his feet. Danny moves at the last moment and the ref gets knocked down. While the official is dazed, Doring lands a Danaconda on Michaels but his cover goes without a count. Michaels tries his best but cannot put away Doring before the time limit runs out.DRAW
MATCH #5
Robert Anthony vs. Kenny King There is a lot of anticipation for this match as PWIS Mid-Western Champion, Robert Anthony, squares off against his rival and Ladies Night blue-chipper, Kenny King. Anthony comes out like a whirlwind, putting King in trouble right away. A Vertibreaker gets a near fall on King and Anthony holds up his thumb and forefinger, indicating that it was ‘that close’. King kicks out after Taco Pizza to everyone’s surprise. Anthony slows the pace a bit and works a side headlock. After Robert turns it back up a notch, it isn’t long before King suffers another Taco Pizza. This time he doesn’t kick out.
JOE: “A dominant win by Robert Anthony! This man has been on fire as of late!”
ADAM: “He oughta go to Vegas because he’s on one hell of a lucky streak!”Winner: Robert Anthony
MAIN EVENT
PWIS CHAMPIONSHIP
Austin Aries(c) vs. Kevin Steen
(Referee: Bryce Remsburg)
The main event of the evening has arrived and the fans are on the edge of their seats. The PWIS Championship is on the line and the challenger, Kevin Steen, is met with a big pop from the crowd. Austin Aries slowly walks to the ring, sneering at the ringsiders. Steen is hyped and Aries instructs Bryce to keep him back while he gets into the ring. Steen comes after the champion aggressively with a kick to the stomach that drops Aries to his knees. Kevin goes for a running senton but Aries rolls out of the way and boots Steen through the ropes and collides with him moments later with a Heat Seeking Missile. Kevin fights back and sends Austin into the post. Back in the ring, Aries escapes a sharpshooter but is immediately put into a crossface. He makes the rope break and rolls out of the ring. Steen follows and drives him into the ring apron with a powerbomb. Steen goes for a moonsault but Austin gets his knees up, then covers the challenger for a two count. The opponents battle back and forth and Steen has the fans on their feet after a Steenalizer. Aries barely kicks out. Aries takes some more punishment before he is able to turn the tide. A brainbuster takes a lot out of Steen. Aries locks on the Last Chancery and it looks like it’s going to be over but Steen miraculously makes it to the ropes. Out of gas, Steen succumbs to a pin after a perfectly executed moonsault by the champion. JOE: “Austin Aries retains the PWIS Championship after a hard fought battle! What a match, Adam!” ADAM: “That’s why Aries is the best in the business today!” Winner: Austin Aries Aftermath The mood in the Ladies Night locker room is elevated. Brutus Beefcake stands in the center of the gathered group. BRUTUS: “I call that a successful night! Valbowski… you looked great out there! Buff and Rhett? You guys are on the way to the tag team titles!” Kenny King is not in a celebrating mood. Rhett Titus consoles him. RHETT: “Don’t take it so hard. You’ll get him next time.” KENNY: “I can’t believe I lost to that punk…” BRUTUS: “J.D., you’re in that top contender spot. Kenny softened Anthony up for you. You’re gonna be the top dog here in Chicago! And Krissy… beautiful as ever, darling.” KRISSY: “Why, thank you. Just tell me we’re going to be back in the club next month. This place sucks.” BRUTUS: “Of course we will, my dear. We run things around here. Ladies Night gets what they want!” Everyone cheers with the exception of Kenny as Beefcake pops the cork on a bottle of champagne. PWIS Chicago Rankings- Robert Anthony

That was a top notch event in Chicago with a great defense by Austin Aries over Kevin Steen, plus I thought Bagwell & Titus winning was good stuff. I also liked the draw between JD and Doring, the “We’re not in the club this month, so Doring won't be able to mooch beers from the fans.” line is funny stuff...

Tough loss by James to open the show... Val should start keeping a closer eye on his lady friend...
Excellent work by Aries and Steen... Happy to see Double-A keep the title though...
Superb action from start to finish... Enjoyed it!

August 6, 2014 YOUR MID-WEEK UPDATE FOR PRO WRESTLING INDEPENDENT SPIRIT This Week's Show: PWIS-OHIO PWIS Mid-Western Championship: Robert Anthony vs. Ricky Landell C.W. Anderson vs. 2 Cold Scorpio Also appearing: Ethan Page, RockNES Monsters, Justin Credible, and others. PROMO: Robert Anthony “Yeah, Ricky Landell, you beat me last time I was in Cleveland. But that’s only because you had your sugar daddy Steve Corino at ringside helping you. This time, with this Mid-Western Championship on the line, The Ego will prove why he’s the top man in PWIS. And if Corino and those other old guys you hang around with want to stick their noses in? Well, I’m ready for them too.” JOE KNOWS with Joe Dombrowski Adam Cole’s PWIS Debut: Commissioner Al Snow informed me today that Adam Cole is set to begin appearing on a regular basis starting in September. Cole made a big impression on PWIS fans during his participation in this year’s Spirit of Independence Tournament. This ROH and CZW veteran will no doubt make an instant splash on the PWIS scene. We are still waiting to hear if Cole will be part of the main roster or if he will be tied to a specific promotion. Factions Out of Control: Regular PWIS viewers will no doubt echo my sentiments when I say that there are a few promotions currently being run roughshod over by factions who seemingly have no respect for authority. The Extreme Horsemen in OHIO, Ladies Night in Chicago, and Dr. Cube’s Forces in PA all seem to be acting with impunity. I call into question Commissioner Snow’s stance, or lack thereof, in regards to these gang activities. Was Snow too wrapped up in his recent spat with Mid-Atlantic promoter Kevin Sullivan or is he spending too much time looking to the horizon, searching for the next big name talent to bring under the PWIS banner? As the preeminent authority in PWIS, Snow is is either lacking the ability or willingness to get these outlaw groups under control. August 17th: It’s an Elimination Bunk House Match in the Mid-Atlantic! George South and the Briscoes take on Savage-T and PG-13! August 24th: Davey Richards and Gran Akuma in stiff combat in Excellence! August 30th: Northern Outlaw Wrestling! August 31st: Rob Van Dam visits PA to take on Green Ant! September 7th: J.D. Michaels looks to bring the Mid-Western Championship to Ladies Night in Chicago! Newswire Bonus Match PWIS - Chicago 8-3-14 pre-show B.G. James vs. Brian Kendrick This was a scrappy contest and tempers ran a little hot as the fists and feet flew. Kendrick came out on top with Sliced Bread #2. Despite the friction, the pair shook hands after the match. Winner: Brian Kendrick THE BIG QUESTION Should Adam Cole Become Part of the Main Roster? Leave your comments below: VIDEO SEGMENT: Dr. Cube is in his lab working on one of his fiendish experiments. Kobald creeps in, meekly trying to gain his masters attention. An exasperated Cube finally acknowledges his underling. CUBE: “What is it, Kobald?! I am in a very important stage of this experiment.” KOBALD: “Guests, Dr. Cube.” CUBE: “Guests? I don’t entertain guests. What do you speak of?” KOBALD: “They came to the gate and…insisted… on seeing you.” CUBE: “Who would dare interrupt my work?! What kind of fool would enter my domain and expect to leave intact?” VOICE: “No fool. Just a friend…” Stepping out of the shadows is the highly decorated wrestler from Ecuador, Juan Francisco de Coronado. Following timidly behind is his man-servant, Herbert. The uninvited pair are being escorted by Soldier Ant and Fire Ant, still under Dr. Cube’s control. CUBE: “You are a brave man, Juan Francisco!” JUAN: “Not so brave as confident. I did sell out the Ecuadome after all.” CUBE: “Yes, yes. What is it that you want?” JUAN: “Your man Colossus is next in line for a title shot at PWIS Champion Austin Aries in a few weeks. I came here hoping to make a deal with you.” CUBE: “Title shot?! I am not concerned with such things! What is this deal you speak of?” JUAN: “My thoughts exactly. I am a merely a sporting man whereas you operate on a much higher level. I seek small prizes such as Aries' title belt. But your work is here and I want to help you.” CUBE: “Help me? How?” JUAN: “If you were to, say, have your man step aside from challenging Aries, I would be next in line. In exchange I could funnel some of my vast wealth to fund your ‘work’.” Cube rubbed his chin(?) contemplating de Coronado’s offer. CUBE: “I could use a lot of money… Very well. My man will relinquish his claim of contendership and you will deposit say…” JUAN: “Let’s not be so crude as to bandy about numbers. Just know the sum will be to your liking.” CUBE: “Very well. But if you think for just one moment of welshing on our deal, you will have a very large problem to deal with.” Behemoth steps in behind Juan and Herbert, dwarfing them both. Herbert lets out an emasculated shriek, cringing in Behemoth’s presence. Juan calmly shakes his head. JUAN: “Don’t be a baby, Herbert. Let’s go. I have a championship match to train for!” Juan nods slightly to Dr. Cube then prods Herbert on. CUBE: “Kobald! Where does on buy... a Lamborghini?”

Really enjoyed the article that discussed the manageability of factions within a promotion... I wonder what would happen if a promoter finally woke up and instituted a complete ban on wrestling alliances of any kind... Might have to explore this someone...
Truly enjoyable read... Lots of fun!
Oh yeah... Should Adam Cole become part of the main roster? ----- Absolutely!
