PWIS - Show #2 (...again)
Match announcement:
"The Masterpiece" Chris Masters vs. Lee Moriarty
Comments:
@ masterpiece83: Someone hasn’t been paying attention. You advertise me for a show I’ve said I’m not going to be on? People are going to want a refund.
@ joe_dombrowski: Chris, we had an agreement that you would make six appearances for us in 2022 with an option for more if both parties wanted to continue.
@ masterpiece83: i dont want to continue @ joe_dombrowski: I didn’t want to discuss this on a public forum but this is where you brought the conversation. Arrangements have been made for you to be in Providence. We expect you to do the right thing and honor our agreement.
@ masterpiece83: we’ll see about that.

PWIS - Show #2 (...again)
"Hello, wrestling people! This is Larry Legend here to remind you that we are just one day away from Pro Wrestling Interdependent Spirit's Show #2 (...again). You'll see 'The Young Legend' Jordan Oliver. Madman Fulton. LuFisto! 'The Masterpiece' Chris Masters. 'Heavyweight Hustle' Calvin Tankman. And 'The King' Nick Gage! I have to admit, he scares me a little. There are still some tickets remaining or tune in live on PWIS-TV. It promises to be a big night of action! Also, come back here on Monday for the announcement of our next show. And later in the week, we will have some special news about the future of PWIS. See you in Providence!"

Show #2 (...again) Fete Music Hall
Providence, RI February 5, 2022Commentary: Joe Dombrowski
Ring Announcer: Larry Legend
Referees: Jake Clemons, Kris Levin
All matches contested under Level 1 Rules (strict).
The stream opens with Larry Legend standing in the ring. Fans are packed into the intimate confines of the Fete and they surround the ring, pounding the canvas in anticipation.
Larry: “Good evening, Providence! Welcome to Show #2 of Pro Wrestling Independent Spirit! Let’s get the festivities underway!”
Jordan Oliver vs. Wes Barkley
Joe: "Joe Dombrowski here with the call for only the second Show #2 in PWIS’s history. We start the night with two rising stars on the independent scene.”
Barkley gets in some cheap shots with hair pulling and eye rakes. Oliver shrugs off Wes’s weak attempts at getting the advantage. Jordan hits one big move after another but each time Barkley bails out of the ring and takes refuge among the throng of fans. The two scuffle in the audience and the action returns to the ring. Oliver tries pressing his advantage with kicks and suplexes but the underhanded tactics of his opponent keep cutting him short. More and more of Jordan’s offense gets through and he almost scores a pin with a cross body from the top rope. Oliver climbs to the top again but Barkley pulls the ref in the way of the jump and we get a referee bump in the opening match. Barkley goes to town, using the ropes to do damage with a couple of Hot Shots. Wes charges Oliver in the corner but Jordan evades and Wes sails into the crowd. Barkley is trying to get away at this point but Oliver forces him back into the ring and catches him with a Clout Cutter for the pin
Winner: Jordan Oliver
Joe: “A wild one to start things out but things can only get wilder with our next contest.”
Madman Fulton vs. Tony Deppen
As introductions are made, Deppen gets in the face of the much larger Fulton, clearly not intimidated by his imposing opponent. Deppen grabs the mic: “I want this under relaxed rules!”
The fans cheer and Fulton just smiles. Larry looks off camera to get confirmation then announces: “It’s about to go down!”
Joe: “Deppen has called for the fight to be under Level 2 rules. Is he that sure of himself or just plain crazy?”
At the bell, Deppen charges and hits Fulton with a running forearm smash. Deppen goes to the ropes but Fulton catches him and bounces him off the mat with a powerbomb. Fulton picks him up again for another powerbomb then rolls Deppen over into a Boston Crab. Tony nearly taps out but Fulton isn’t waiting for it and executes the combo again. Deppen grabs for the ropes and pulls himself free and out onto the floor. Deppen crawls through the crowd and Fulton pursues. Fulton orders the crowd to move and they part. With the way clear, Fulton Irish whips Tony into the wall next to the bar. Deppen impacts with a huge thud and crumbles to the ground. Fulton pulls Deppen up but Tony finds a reserve of energy and slams Fulton’s head into the bar. Fulton shakes it off and gives Tony some of his own medicine. Fulton drags the bleary Deppen back to the ring and drives him into the mat with a falcon arrow. Fulton tries to choke Deppen on the ropes but Tony hits him with a springboard Codebreaker that rocks the big man. Deppen pounces with a Back of Head KO Blow and makes the cover. Kick out at two. Deppen climbs to the top rope and urges Fulton to get to his feet. Tony leaps but Fulton catches him and buries him with a spinning powerslam for the three count.
Joe: “Deppen called his shot and came up short. The kid may have more heart than brains.”
Winner: Madman Fulton
LuFisto vs. Miranda Gordy
Joe: “It’s time for ladies action.”
LuFisto stays a step ahead of her opponent in the early going until she misses with a cannonball. Gordy then levels her with double axe handle. Miranda misses with a corner splash and LuFisto locks on the La Crucetta leg lock. Miranda gets to the ropes right away for the break. LuFisto starts laying in big shots and rattles Gordy with a Codebreaker. LuFisto climbs to the top but Miranda meets her there. After a struggle, Miranda finds herself in a vulnerable position and on the receiving end of a Chibi Stomp. Cradle brainbuster by LuFisto for a two count. Burning Hammer. Miranda kicks out! LuFisto can’t believe it. Another string of strong attacks sets up a J-Driller and Miranda is done. 1-2-3.
Winner: LuFisto
Joe: “I’m joined at this for guest commentary by ‘Maserati Wes’ - Wes Barkley.”
Wes: “Thanks for having me.”
Nick Gage vs VsK
VsK comes to the ring and produces a bottle of baby oil from his ring gear and holds it up. The fans pop.
Joe: “The Beyond Wrestling fans here in Fete recall that VsK is sometimes known as the…’oil master’?”
Wes: “I thought he retired that gimmick.”
This is all quickly forgotten as Nick Gage makes his appearance. Gage circulates through the crowd, both parties pumping each other up. Chants of 'Nick F’n Gage!' and 'MDK!' shake the room. Finally, as Gage gets in the ring, the crowd shouts at VsK: “Nick’s gonna kill you! Nick’s gonna kill you!” VsK starts to look worried.
Joe: “Nick Gage is so intense. It can be intimidating.”
Wes: “I don’t know if he’s all that. He doesn’t seem that tough to me.”
Joe: “For the record, it was Wes Barkley who just said that. Not Joe Dombrowski.”
Gage and VsK lock up with Nick taking the early advantage with a back suplex. Gage methodically works on VsK, like a predator toying with it’s prey. VsK reverses a whip into the corner and hits Gage with What-A-Maneuver. Nick rolls out to the floor clutching his neck. VsK wisely let’s Gage come back to the ring rather than engaging him outside. VsK goes to the top turnbuckle but Gage pushes him off and he crashes down to the floor at the feet of the fans. Gage is quickly on top of him and executes a Piledriver on the floor! Back in the ring, VsK catches Gage with a Yakuza kick that staggers him. Following with a dropkick, VsK sets up Gage for a Serenity Brainbuster. Two count and kick out. He goes for the Serenity Brainbuster again. Two count. The fans are stunned by how VsK is taking it to Gage. VsK misses a superkick and Gage gives him a brutal facewash. He is pissed! Gage drags VsK out to the floor for another Piledriver! In the ring, Chokebreaker! 1-2- Gage pulls VsK up and shakes his head. Setting VsK on the top turnbuckle, Gage powerbombs him from up high and covers for the pin.
The crowd goes crazy. Gage wants the mic and Larry hesitates. Nick snatches it from him.
“Larry, I like you but if you pull that kinda s**t again, I will hurt you.”
Larry scampers away and the crowd roots Gage on.
“Where are my gang members at? Where’s my MDK crew?! I can’t f**king hear you!!”
Winner: Nick Gage
Joe: “Gage has quite the following.”
Wes: “That’s nothing. Wait’ll you see Wes-amania.”
Joe: “And when’s that gonna be?”
Wes: “...soon.”
Joe: “Oookay.”
Larry: “We’ve reached the point in the show where we’ve been struck by the dreaded ‘card subject to change’ clause. Unfortunately, ‘The Masterpiece’ Chris Masters will not be on the show tonight.”
The fans start booing and a ‘Master’s sucks!’ chant goes up.
“However, we have found someone to take his place, so let’s bring out the competitors now!”
Shane Mercer vs. Lee Moriarty
Joe: “ ‘The Iron Demon’ Shane Mercer should prove a similar challenge to Lee Moriarty that Masters would have provided.”
Wes: “I saw what happened last time. I stand with Chris Masters.”
Joe: “Alright, we’re not talking about that right now.”
Mercer attempts to start things with a Beell but Moriarty catches him off guard and reverses into a rolling European Clutch. After delivering a couple of shots rebounding off the ropes, Moriarty stuns Mercer with a hammerlock DDT. A dropkick puts Mercer down and Lee follows with a seated double stomp and covers for a near fall. Moriarty is all over Shane who rolls out of the ring to regroup. With his opponent backpedaling, Moriarty strikes with a Taigadriver X but only gets a two count. Mercer can’t keep up. Joint Custody has Mercer reaching for the ropes. Moriarty is a whirlwind of offense exemplified by his repeated tornado DDTs. Mercer finally cuts Lee off and slams him with a pair of Gif Plexes and covers for a two count. Mercer’s run is short lived as Moriarty is again wrapping him up with chain wrestling, maneuvering Shane into Joint Custody again. Mercer taps out.
Winner: Lee Moriarty
Joe: “Lee Moriarty is proving to be a handful for his opponents. It’s main event time, folks. Let’s take it back down to Larry.”
Calvin Tankman vs. KTB
Joe: “This should be what our friend J.R. calls a slobber knocker.”
Wes: “What does ‘KTB’ even mean?”
Joe: “That would be ‘Kyle the Beast’.”
Wes: “Oh. Kinda like ‘Maserati Wes’.”
Joe: “Uh… sure, Wes.”
Tankman throws some big clubbing blows that KTB no-sells. KTB performs his flashy inverted atomic drop & splash combo and goes for the early pin. Tankman easily kicks out. In an insane show of strength, KTB hefts Calvin up for his Go To Beast finisher that has the crowd jumping. Two count. Beasthammer by KTB and he’s throwing the 355 lb. Tankman around like a man half his size. There is a struggle for control and Tankman comes out on top, hitting three consecutive sitout powerbombs then goes for a brainbuster with KTB kicking out at one. Moonsault by Tankman! Kick out at two. Spinebuster and Hidden Blade sees KTB powder. After some fighting on the floor KTB takes over again and tries a half crab for a submission but Tankman powers out. Second rope walk DVD by KTB and the fans are going out of their minds. With suddenness, KTB hits Lost in the Moss, planting Calvin and rolling him over for the pin.
Winner: KTB
Joe: “Wow. A stunning victory by KTB in what some might call an upset. Well, that's it for tonight everyone. Follow us on social media to stay up to date on all of the happenings in PWIS. This is Joe Dombrowski, for Wes Barkley, signing out. Thanks for watching.”

Tons of great action from start to finish, my friend... Really like the genuine indy vibe... Gage looks to be top dog at the moment... But, we all know that's subject to change.
Was kinda surprised by the Masters no-show... Expected him to arrive at some point, even if it wasn't during his scheduled match... Lots of fun!

Great show, Lee Moriarty off to a good start and I also liked the wins by Nick Gage and Madman Fulton, not to mention Lufisto! I'm thoroughly enjoying this revival of PWIS.

While it wasn't my intention to subvert expectations, The Masterpiece did say he would not be there. Not to worry though - we'll be hearing from Masters again soon enough.

Great show, Lee Moriarty off to a good start and I also liked the wins by Nick Gage and Madman Fulton, not to mention Lufisto! I'm thoroughly enjoying this revival of PWIS. I've only used Moriarty twice now but he ran circles around his opponents in both matches. I presume it's a little him and a little the dice but I'm still surprised how well he has done. We could see him at the top of the card before long.
