My take...looks like an origin story for the reboot of Chikara. With all the time traveling stuff that was discussed, it wouldn't shock me if they rebooted it and ran another show as close to the first show as possible. EDIT - Courtesy of TheAshesof.com "Ashes - Man Down" Premieres 8.19.13

With the Wrestling Is... Groups staying active I think this vies them time to sort some things out and slowly build towards a relaunch of the Chikara name.
Wasn't there something about a divorce and contested ownership of the Wrestle Factory itself? This may all be a way to clear out who owns and can re-open it and thus also the Chikara IP as well.
Personally though I am saddened that there are no official Chikara shows I am enjoying the slow I Am Chikara momentum build. And the mystery/storyline unfolding

And the mystery/storyline unfolding Ray Utter bull that Mike Quackenbush broke form to address on the 7/23 edition of his non-wrestling podcast "The Grizzly Bear Egg Cafe" w/Clayton Morris. 23 minutes into the show he says: "My wife has never had any ownership or control over the company 'Chikara Incorporated'. For more than seven years she has supported the creative endeavors of Chikara wholeheartedly. Anything out there to the contrary being reported is misinformation, and any claims to the contrary are lies. So anybody perpetuation stuff like that, please stop." grizzlybearcafe.com/

Then I stand corrected on that. Though I had heard it was in regards to the Wrestle Factory, not Chikara.
But as I said before, regardless of the reasons behind it, I am intrigued by what they are doing and the slow rebuild.
