New player here.... Never heard of Filsinger Games until a few months ago, but I'm excited to play.
I took a skim through the forum here, and I've been reading a few posts in the Federation section, where people talk about the Feds they're running. My question is, how does all that stuff work? I mean, I see people talking about the referees, and title matches, and weekly TV shows... Is it all just purely flavor text that people come up with for their home games, or is it involved with the Online games somehow?

Most of that stuff is made up on our own. There are some referees that are created that do affect the dice rolls and you do have some charts that are dice-based for interview segments but, in my personal case, I let the dice determine who wins the match and then I make up the stuff that fits around that.

Okay, thanks for that information.... I didn't see any posts about "rules" or anything for running a fed, so I didn't want to just start making stuff up and have it be some kind of breach of etiquette or something.....

Welcome to the game. This is for sure a game with game rules in how the matches unfold, but running your own fed(s) is truly up to your creativity and inspiration from real world wrestling to anything else that can inspire you. As VX says "I let the dice determine who wins the match and then I make up the stuff that fits around that.", which is what works for me. Overall have a good time playing and go with the flow...

Yes sir! I usually have plotlines laid out for non-match segments and then roll the matches...then i adjust the storyline to fit the outcome! A great thing about this game is how a person can share their take on their feds! For example, in my fed wrestler A might be a total bum but let's say Justin Case's fed he is a powerhouse! Like it has already been stated, there are referee cards and interview cards and they can be used as they are or adjusted to however you deem fit! Like the saying goes, it is your fed promoter! Welcome to the game and glad to see ya posting! Filsinger games has a vast universe and you can't go wrong anyway you play...so, get rolling the dice and let's see what is happening in your small quarter of the universe!

Welcome turko!
Tom has consistently encouraged game players to be as creative as they want. "It's up to you promoter!" is the answer many longtime game fans have been accustomed to hearing for years. The table top version of the game comes with a roster of talent, dice, and charts for determining results of matches. It also comes with a handbook that gives you some character background and suggestions of how to use the talent pool you have received. The rest is up to you, and some of the real fun is sharing your creative output on the message boards and bouncing ideas off other fans of the game.
I have two questions for you out of curiosity. (1) are you more interested in the online game or the card and dice table top version? and (2) what brand(s) are you interested in delving into first?

as others before me have stated its all in your mind.i have a list of storylines wrote down that I plan to add to my fed. after the dice and charts do their job of determining who wins I add the rest of what happens to follow my storylines. if by chance some matches don't turn out right for my storylines I just tweek my storylines alittle bit to fitthe match outcomes. the most important thing is its your fed let your imagination run wild and have fun. welcome to the filsinger universe and look forward to reading your fed once you start posting.

I'm more interested in the table top version. Mostly for solo play, but I have a friend who is interested who might play with me every once in a while. I figured I would start at the beginning so I ordered the COTG First Edition 2087 set a few days ago, and I've impatiently been waiting for the mailman to deliver it ever since....

Cool, glad to hear. Many game fans prefer card and dice because of its old school feel, and because it gets them off a computer (although frequent participation on these boards puts you back on a computer or phone).
2087 is a great set, originally released in the mid-80s with a market towards kids in particular. Just understand that because of this, the original set is in black and white and has a very old school feel to it. I often muse about how I had no idea what a running slingshot was (apparently a running clothesline), and there are childish angles like a short skinny guy with a top hat that is just as big as him hiring a jacked up Bounty Hunter to battle a man who is half man half wolf so that he can marry the wolf man's amazon girlfriend. I think that storyline was an awesome feud, but it isn't something you'd see on today's programming. But keep that in mind and I'm sure you'll love this game and all of the larger than life characters this game has to offer.

Not so sure that Vince and his creative team don't scour our sites. I know when Rampage wrestling was big and some of us ran IRON (A rampage territory system) some of our angles showed up on air
