This has to be one of the longest strung out storylines around.

I don't get it. I mean, I get the storyline, as much as I get any of CHIKARA's stories, but I don't see the point. Canceling events and shutting down for six plus months to further an Archibald Peck time travel story? It seems all risk, and no reward. They're gambling that their fans will come back, that their workers won’t get hurt taking other bookings in the interim, that people will care… I think probably the biggest thing is that it sacrifices the company’s credibility, to do something so drastic for so long for a storyline. I know that its wrestling and its CHIKARA and credibility may seem like a silly thing to bring up; but there’s going to come a point somewhere down the line where they need it and it’s not going to be there. One day they might really close their doors, or someone might really get seriously hurt, or God forbid, worse…. And we’re not going to be in a position where we can believe what CHIKARA tells us. It’s the same reason why I hate storyline deaths, like when the E blew up Mr. McMahon. To paraphrase Potter Stewart, I don’t know what crossing the line is, but I know it when I see it. And, at least to me, this is it.

There are shoot reasons for this Chikara shutdown. What they are exactly, I couldn't say. They are trying to keep interest by making it a storyline until they can return.

They are really shooting themselves in the foot with this angle. Past the hardcore fans, the buzz around this has died. The night it happened, it overshadowed the TNA PPV that happened the same night. Now? Most people who aren't part of the Chikarmy have just stopped caring and I seriously doubt they're gonna get all of 'em back.

I agree with Switch Truth it does seem like an awful big risk to the future of Chikara and their fans. Hopefully for everyone it pays off. NPWD is in Easton this year so maybe after that Chikara will be back to normal

And, at least to me, this is it. I agree with some of your points. I don't know if or what the real reasons behind the shutdown are but I have a bad feeling that Chikara won't come back the same. In many ways they seemed to be gaining some momentum and this big of a break is only going to hurt them. If somehow they could have brought more attention to the Wrestling Is... shows that had Chikara stars and Chikara storyline bits then it would have helped but this thing just feel dead in the water for someone like me who doesn't read the Chikarmy boards every day.

This storyline has really done the fed and its fans a real disservice. What could have been creative now makes less sense than the flash foward years on Lost. Quack coming clean about what is going on would be the first logical step in trying to repair the damage.

Having never met Mike I can't say but if this article is correct, I'm not sure he cares if the general populace gets it. He only wants the 'right people' to get it. www.toledofreepress.com/2011/01/05/mcginnis-‘the-right-people-will-get-this’/In this day and age when entertainment bombards us from every playing directly to the CHICKArmy is super smart. Play to your core. The people who get it. The people who will support you no matter what. As for the break, who knows what was going on personally in his life?" Maybe he needed a 6 month break and this storyline was a way to achieve that. Not a Chikara fan but I am a fan of anyone who creates art for themselves first, not the general public. And it seems to me in my limited Chikara experience, Mike considers it art. Hard for some to understand in our capitalistic focused society but sometimes it's not about the money. Sometimes it's about telling the story you want to tell, critics be damned.

A friend have mine that has done some Wrestling Is shows told me that Quack cheated on his wife with Saturyne and she found out, and that was the reason for the break. Though, right when it happened he told me that Chikara was "definitely done" so basically take that for what it's worth.
