So I bought a nice color printer. No good.
Went to both Staples and Office Max.... both could not print the quality.
Card stock is a huge problem, but even when some I found close I could not get the quality good enough.
Does anyone have any alternatives to getting the cards made from Promoter Prime??

Card stock is a huge problem, but even when some I found close I could not get the quality good enough. Does anyone have any alternatives to getting the cards made from Promoter Prime?? I would suggest just continue trying different places if possible, that is how I resolved a recent issue I had trying to print some cards from Promoter Prime. I don't own a color printer, so I would always just get my pdfs printed at a nearby Kinkos and they turned out fine but then that Kinkos stopped stocking the card stock. However a second Kinkos in town had the card stock but they refused to print cards from Promoter Prime because of the copyrighted c on the back of the cards as they refused to believe me the cards from Promoter Prime are on a printable pdf that we purchase from Filsinger Games. But that second Kinkos would at least sell me the cardstock which I took back to the original Kinkos I had been using and they printed my cards from Promoter Prime with no problem. The problem might be the personnel in the stores you encounter as some of them are definitely more skilled than others. For example, I once had someone at Office Max try to tell me it is "impossible" to print out the cards with the art on the front and the stats on the back of the same piece of cardstock.

It'd be great if we could get the name of the official FG card printer. That way we could get them printed on official stock and they'd know what the hell we were talking about. It'd probably be super expensive to get a one off card printed but at least we would know it was being done right and on official cardstock.

I would suggest checking around your town. There are TONS of small printers around my area. The non-name brand printers are probably less expensive and more willing to help you figure things out. Google print shops around your area and give them a call. Printing these cards really is pretty simple for someone that has a clue what they were doing. I used to print them from a nice office laser jet and they turned out great. No problems with alignment. It should be pretty easy to find someone to take care of this for you. A lot of people working at print shops are straight out of graphic design school so this stuff should be SUPER easy for them.
Also, if your printer has worked before and just doesn't have the right paper, go to Office Max, Office Depot, Staples and pick up a cheap ream of card stock. Then you always have the same stuff.

I was really interested in this posting because of how crappy my cards come out. I'm in the process also of looking at places to print my stuff.

No Kinkos anywhere near where I live, no idea why, we are big enough for one. None of the small printers have a clue what they are doing. I went to all 5 in town, they can do business cards, banners and one does good large posters for events. But they seem to be at a loss over a simple card. I have been searching the web for, well.... years it seems now and found nothing.
I am like Toaster, at this point, I do not care what the price may be, I am willing to pay it.

I can get card stock like the B&W cards are printed on and they turn out fine. What I want is the stock that the color cards are printed on. I've been all over the area and they are all clueless. Kinkos/Staples are staffed by teenagers and dummies who don't care and most of the print shops are run by old-timers who aren't up on the new-fangled stock. Now I'm sure I could get some printed at a hefty cost but I have the capability to do it myself. I'm pretty sure that paper comes in large sheets and I don't doubt that printers are protective of selling it thinking you'll go somewhere else to print it.

Problem I've found at Office, Staples, and Kinkos is they don't listen. Workers I usually get just want to take the easy way and say print double sided. They don't listen to me when I tell them they have to print one side, put back in the machine and print again. Often the cardstock is heavy enough that when printers suck the paper back in it knocks them off alignment. I've rarely had a printer that went through less that 20 cards worth of screw ups before they got it right.
As far as Kinkos not printing for copyright issues FG could probably put a cover page on the pdf saying this is a purchased set to be printed at a local print shop etc.

When you go to print the cards, is there anything special that needs to do be done. I know it will be one card per page and tell them to print front and back. Are there any settings that need to be done?
