Per WWE.com STAMFORD, Conn. — WWE today announced it has signed Kenta, one of Japan’s biggest stars, to its NXT division. The announcement took place during a signing ceremony at a WWE Live Event in Osaka, Japan with WWE icon and Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan presiding. Kenta’s intense and straightforward in-ring style has led to his success in Japan, as well as during visits to the U.S. He is expected to reach new heights of global success with WWE. “Kenta is an incredible performer who brings the crowd to its feet when he steps into the ring,” said Paul Levesque, Executive Vice President, Talent, Creative and Live Events, WWE. “WWE’s signing of Kenta reflects our continued dedication to creating a diverse roster that appeals to our global fan base.” “I am humbled to join WWE’s NXT division and look forward to honing my craft with the global leader in sports-entertainment,” said Kenta. Kenta will relocate to Orlando, Florida, where he will train at WWE’s state-of-the-art Performance Center to enhance his talents both athletically and creatively.

One of the best wrestlers in the world and he is signed to NXT? This makes sense after the failures of Sin Cara and Kharma. The WWE works a "Hard Camera" Style and not everyone can easily adapt to that style. Having Kenta work a few months in NXT will help him adapt to the "WWE Style" quicker. I can't see him staying there long though.

One thing that makes some sense, besides having him adjust to "WWE style", is that by putting him on NXT it would make the WWE Network a little more attractive to non-subscribers as the only way to see NXT is on the network, save for Hulu. If they do the same once Kevin Steen and Prince Devitt arrive it will give NXT a real talent boost. That will make more people want to see it and more talk will revolve around the network being the go to place to see the new stars even more so than it is now.

All in all, WWE needs to push the mid-card more. We are getting more wrestling, but we need a mid-card. I'm not even asking for low-card talent to have a title and time. Stop having the secondary champs squashed by the proverbial main event guys or the month's flavor they're pushing.

Great signing, but does anyone else think a little too late. 14 yrs pro/33 years old. wake up Paul the universe wants young talent. just my opinion They just signed Kevin Steen who's 20 years old and a 14 year pro as well as Prince Devitt who's about to turn 33 and a 14 year pro. Oh and by the way, KENTA is the same age as Daniel Bryan. It's not like these guys are old but given how much time they've all put in, it's not like they're gonna be around for 10-15 years.
