Saw this question posed in poll form on Pro Wrestling Torch today...I voted for Nigel McGuinness, if for no other reason than the torture he physically put himself through to defend the title. Plus, Nigel was so damn good at the role he played. Danielson would have been my second choice.
What does the Filsinger Universe think?

Bryan Danielson is tied with Nigel for most defenses but I would say that perhaps he had better, more diverse competition. He has my vote.

I think for me it would be tied between Samoa Joe and Bryan Danielson. Samoa Joe's reign seemed to add legitimacy that the title didn't have yet. Danielson held the title for a LONG time and had some amazing matches. It's kind of cheating to pick two but I don't think I could pick between the two.

Adam Cole had a good run, but my pick is Elgin.

I'd vote Nigel myself.

I know this is an old thread but I just saw it. I'd vote Danielson as the best in terms of match quality. Joe had an incredible run against a wide array of opponents and is still the longest reigning champion so he's certainly up there. Morishima might be my favorite reign though. Completely different dynamic than any other ROH Champion--even Joe.
