1) PJ Black vs Timothy Thatcher {CWS World Heavyweight Title Tournament}
This one looked like a major clash of styles on paper, but it turned out to be one hell of a match. Black took the early advantage using his quickness to keep out of the grasp of Thatcher. Tim was able to mount virtually no offense until he was forced to slide out of the ring to regroup. Black followed him out, and Thatcher won the brawl on the floor with a series of vicious European uppercuts. Thatcher controlled for a while back in the ring, but Black was able to catch him flush on the jaw with a jumping spin kick for a near fall. Black went up top and tried a diving spin kick, but caught the referee instead of Thatcher. Tim attempted to check on the referee, but Black nailed another spin kick and followed it with the 450. There was no referee to count, so Black drug Tim back to his feet, but Thatcher rolled him into a cross armbreaker out of nowhere. Black managed to work his way out, but just as the referee came too, Thatcher suplexed Black back down, floated over and applied the Fujiwara armbar for the tap out victory.
Winner, advancing to the Semi-Final Round: Timothy Thatcher
We are taken backstage to a split screen where we see Tommaso Ciampa and AJ Styles each getting ready for their upcoming tournament match.
2) Kyle O'Reilly vs Matt Sydal {CWS World Heavyweight Title Tournament}
This match was pretty much a showcase for Matt Sydal. Not saying O'Reilly wasn't impressive and didn't do his part, but it was pretty clear after the opening few minutes who was going to win this one. Sydal pulled out the Cyclorama and the Here It Is Driver, both of which O'Reilly was able to escape, and he even managed to counter a Shooting Sydal Press with some knees to the midsection and a small package. In the end though, Sydal sailed effortlessly down onto O'Reilly with a picture perfect Shooting Sydal Press to show the world that he is truly Bourne Again!
Winner, advancing to the Semi-Final Round: Matt Sydal
3) Tommaso Ciampa vs AJ Styles {CWS World Heavyweight Title Tournament}
Yet again, Ciampa brings a war and Styles was more than happy to oblige. Ciampa jumped Styles as the bell rang and dumped him on his head with a German suplex. He then whipped him into the corner, brought him down with a clothesline, and brutalized him with repeated running knee strikes. Styles took quite a beating before connecting with a Pele kick that turned the tide of the match for him. Things went back and forth for a solid fifteen minutes and in the end it took not one, but two Styles Clashes to put Ciampa away.
Winner, advancing to the Semi-Final Round: AJ Styles
4) Drew Galloway vs Homicide {CWS World Heavyweight Title Tournament}
This match obviously didn't go as planned, and I am guessing really tossed a wrench in the plans of the promotion. Galloway took control in the opening moments, and was in control for most of the first several minutes, until Homicide caught him with an ace crusher and took over on offense. After delivering a beating of his own, Homicide hooked Drew for Da Gringo Killa, and it appeared as if Drew was going to roll back onto his feet. The size differential between the men made this awkward and something went wrong, which caused both of them to collapse and Galloway to land badly on his shoulder. There was a bit of confusion as the referee checked on Galloway, and tried to convey information to Homicide. Finally Galloway stood up and Homicide delivered a weak looking lariat before covering Galloway for the 1,2,3.
Winner, advancing to the Semi-Final Round: Homicide
After the match, Galloway went to the back clutching his shoulder, as a somewhat shocked looking Homicide celebrated in the ring.
