I think all 3 way dances/triple Threat and 4 corner matches should always elimination especially title matches
Make a champ work to keep the title instead of first pin wins
Of course ECW always had 3 way dances and they were almost always elimination matches and fans looked forward to seeing them

Although there are times when I like to have non-elimination triple threat or non-elimination four way matches, I personally generally prefer them to be elimination matches.
In my fed Ring of Vegas (ROV,) every major show now starts off with a "ROV traditional" 4 way elimination match.

Although I appreciate a good elimination match every now and then, I don't find they possess the same raw intensity as matches that are 'first fall to a finish', in which competitors are forced to remain on their toes at all times to ensure that no one pulls off the unexpected... Lots of opportunities for great spots involving broken up covers and stolen pinfalls... In an elimination match, a wrestler has the luxury of 'sitting one out' because he knows that the match is not over until only one man is left.

I don't like the elimination style because using common sense, I just think that the other 2 (or 3) guys could pre-plan to gang up on the odd man and get rid of him rather quickly. I also agree with everything Pariah said. Plus, when a champ loses the title but doesn't get pinned/submitted, it creates more booking opportunities for rematches, new rivalries, etc.

the downside to that common sense is that no one would ever allow a pin....hence every match would basically end up WWE style where one guy hits a finisher or something, gets knocked out by guy 2 who steals the pin on guy 3.

Yeah, in all fairness, I can see what TTX is saying as well... My response was really based on a game-playing point of view and not a real-life wrestling point of view... I think they're are definitely more creative ways to handle a first fall to a finish type of scenario, but I'd be willing to bet that WWE rarely (if ever) explores such possibilities...

In game, you can definitely go with just one fall (and after playing several of those matches, it's usually my preference) as there's only so many pin saves a guy can make.

To me in game play and in real life wrestling I think it depends on the situation. If you are booking a multiman match as part of a tournament then I think the match should be elimination, as in a tournament you should actually have to be beaten to be eliminated. If it is part of a normal event I do like the 1 fall matches, as it allows for more stories to be told when it comes to the competitor not involved in the fall.

It's a good way to get a bunch of guys some matches.

Depends on the story being told.
