Hi guys, I say potential new player even though over the past few months, my interest in playing the game has grown. Even just in the last few days, I got the free demo pack for online and played around with that, looked all over the site and boards, signed up here, looked at the wiki....I've even read the first 50 pages of Pariah's GWF Code is broken fed lols
I get like this, sometimes it passes, sometimes it doesn't but one thing is certain, I want to soon get started with a full starter set.. I'm leaning heavily to Champions of the Galaxy even though I'd be also doing the indy sets and Legends, the unique characters TF has created in a sci fi, futuristric world really appeals to me.. Even better realizing I can do what ever I want with it.. (like time travel Bryan Danielson to GWF)
Having said all this, I was at first going to get the physical, updated 2087 intro set with the colored cards because I like how the artwork pops with color, plus I thought having the physical product with the dice would be more fun and engaging.
Problem is, while I don't mind skipping releases, not following canon, etc, if I was to get a the colored set, I'd want all sets in color.. Seems only way I can do with COTG is online.
Not to mention the physical product is more expansive than online and I don't exactly have funds flowing in right now (And I doubt the store accepts prepaid vanilla visa cards as payment so that's another hurdle to jump. The least of my issues though tbh)
Having played online with the demos, just using the game table, I'm still trying to understand all the rules and when an opponoent rolls... Something like wrestler x rolls: 6 out of the the ring (c) confuses me about who rolls next lol..
The layout online seems confusing too but maybe its only cause I have the demo cards.
The main draw to online for me is cheaper and all color cards.
The main draw of the physical model is being able to more engaged in the process possibly, having all the the things I need on hand, being able to take the game anywhere...
I can't decide....
Anyway, happy to be here!

When you roll choice and don't take it, you move up a level of offense. Still there are times where you keep getting the same move, which is just what's going to happen on a d6 sometime.
I've played both, but as things continue to grow, I keep running out of room to hold things, so I find myself liking online more. With FG not always reprinting stuff (you'll have to get PDFs of certain sets and print them out yourselves), Online has some real advantages.
In the end though do whatever you feel is best for you and your game.

I tend to call it up because you're moving up on the card. But down works too.

Welcome aboard, this is the greatest game and it keeps going. I play with cards and dice at the kitchen table and that's the best way for me to play. I've been playing since 1988 and currently I run my indy card fed EVOLVE Wrestling (which is in its 7th game year and it's 2nd real year) and my return to and new LOW fed called Wild Wrestling. Anyway, hope you keep playing and enjoying it for many years to come...

Always cool to see another COTG player preparing to set up shop... When you get up and running, I look forward to hearing about your fed and I'm pleased that you find my own efforts entertaining enough to read...
Personally, I play solely online because I like the freedom of being able to play anywhere... All I need is an internet connection of some kind... Plus, it means I never gave to worry about certain sets being out of print... Although they haven't yet released 2109-2118 for online, I'm sure that will happen at some point...
If you're worried about losing touch with the action by playing online, here are two things I do to prevent that: 1. I always have a notebook handy to record anything of importance. 2. I don't use the PbP simulator... Although it works great for some people, I need to roll out every match on the gameboard... It helps me remain focused on what's truly going down.
Whichever option you choose, let your imagination be the boss... Have fun!

Welcome to the asylum. both digital and card & dice. the digital helps in not having to carry or store cards. but the same time holding the actual card well for me is tactile and helps the imagination. nothing better than building a few your way. in my original I had with bootlegs, other filsinger game cards...I mean Superfly Snuka hitting the Superfly on Bishop Hell (lol) its always best to do what your comfortable with. Just started my friends son and he wants to go with in the books for our fed but has a hodge podge for his own. just remember to have fun, oh and the dice cheat

Welcome! Since I only play Champions of the Galaxy, I tend to order both the card set and play online. I like playing online more than playing with the cards and rolling the dice. But, thats just me. If I can recommend starting from the year 2087 and work your way up, so that way you learn the rich history of the GWF. There is such a rich rich lore here with Star Warrior and Omega's family to the headbanging Aethrans. But, as Pariah did state you will run into a slight problem once you get to the year 2109-2118 as they haven't come out online yet. If you like doing graphics you can take the mini-champions that B-Mack does for us and add a little favor to your feds that you post on line with us. See my signature graphic at the bottom for an example. I use the signature graphic to help remind people of who my champions are when they read my fed. Here is a link to all the mini-champions. I also keep a spreadsheet of all my title divisons, as well as their wins and loses to help keep everything running like a real wrestling company. Do something like this may help you as well. I hope this has helped you.

Anyway, happy to be here! First a disclaimer... I don't play COTG so I can't give any advice there. I will say that rolling the dice is great but definitely requires you to get out the physical cards and dice. Playing Online allows you to play anywhere you have your computer (like work... shhhhh). As for the prepaid Vanilla Visa... I am about 90% sure I have used those to place my orders in the past so I'm pretty confident that they accept them.

If you ever want to run a few matches online with the demo cards against another person, give me a holler and I'll help you figure out how the online works. It's not too hard once you understand the rules.
