George Hackenschmidt def. Johnny Saint, 2-1 in 10 rounds Show Notes: all kinds of great wrestling on the first EPW ppv. event. In the first semifinal, Johnny Saint led 1-0 before Adrian Street scored a fall in the ninth round. In round 10 Saint won by countout. The second semifinal saw Jim Londos with a 1-0 lead until George Hackenschmidt won falls in the seventh and eighth rounds. Championship action, Les Thatcher gave Danny Hodge all he could handle but the champion retained. Bobby Heenan then went 0-2 as Dan Spivey and Giant Bernard rallied to take the EPW tag team titles. John Pesek & Masked Superstar II had a lot of chances to win but lost despite the dominance, saves and interference from their manager. P.N. News then retained the heavyweight title against former champion Nigel McGuinness. The Euro Catch Cup final was a tremendous match. Johnny Saint really controlled the match and led 1-0. Hackenschmidt won in round 9 and again with the bear hug in round 10 to win the tournament trophy. |

Claudio Castagnoli def. P.N. News (ch), 5 rounds Show Notes: One of three titles changed hands. Claudio Castagnoli worked his way through five rounds to defeat P.N. News for the EPW heavyweight title. Danny Hodge made a great comeback to beat Fit Finlay. Doc & Gordy were put away by Giant Bernard's Bernard Driver three straight times on Gordy. Vader incited an altercation with the British Bulldog when he kept attacking Davey Boy Smith Jr. after the match. Nick Bockwinkel debuted in Europe with a great match and win over the Iron Sheik. Frank Gotch stunned Lou Thesz in no time at all. Former tag partners Jim Londos and Johnny Saint put on a wrestling clinic in a spectacular match. Adrian Street upset the man who won the Euro Catch Cup George Hackenschmidt. Partners Brian Christopher & Scott Taylor won a 10-man battle royal. |

Rikidozan (ch) def. Jim Londos Show Notes: a gigantic show tonight that was unusually violent with a lot of action on the outside. Stand out matches of the evening included Dick Hutton vs. Dave Taylor-just brutal and hard-hitting. Dr. Death destroyed Ed Lewis before winning by C.O. Gotch got the submission from Hackenschmidt. Vader and the Bulldog battered each other to hell and back. Too Cool upset Spivey and Bernard to win the EPW tag team championship! P.N. News got an immediate rematch for the European title. There were no falls heading to round eight where News was counted out. Danny Hodge held on early and then dominated to beat Delirious and win the NWA World Jr. heavyweight title! Londos was battered by chops all night but nearly won with sustained use of the Boston Crab. Rikidozan is all heart and he came back to lay a beating on Londos before retaining the I-C strap. |
