GWFC REPORT (THE END 2111 CARDS 1177 - 1180) Champions * GWFC Heavyweight Champ: Thunder (Top Contender: Wolf) * GWFC Tag Champs: Twin Blood (Top Contenders: Ninja Assassins) * GWFC Centra Champ: Painmaster (Top Contender: Draconian Sheik) * GWFC Ladies Champ: Thrash (Top Contender: Anaxis) Latest News: As the people of Centra now know all too well, winning or doing well at OTB is the gateway to greater success and recognition. There is a twist for the Hardcore bracket. Tradition is that this is a cage tournament but this year it will be held on Primus and fought entirely as Lava Pit matches. Of course that means Grovel has to enter and it could be a dark horse to win it what with the potential for the primitives to help. Usually only one member per team can enter a bracket but exceptions can always be made as Max Shield and Corporal Aegis are in the Heavyweight bracket and potentially on a collision course. People tend to always overthink all the permutations of the event and try to turn it into a Krypton Factor task. Fact of the matter is it’s a straightforward knockout. Not seeded in anyway. Only thing I try to do is have an equal amount of heroes and villains in each tournament. Matches are random although in the first round I also try to ensure it’s a hero versus a villain. One big omission is Vengeance. He is being denied entry into any bracket even though his recent form is more than good enough. Money talks and the main sponsor of the event has said they don’t want someone with a murder charge being associated with their event. They have also put a block on Murdok although surprisingly it would have been hard to justify his inclusion anyway due to recent high profile losses to both Corporal Aegis and Ventross. The big storyline going into the month of OTB features Amazonia. She is fuming as her dream of winning a men’s belt is dashed by Commissioner Morpheus. He officially rules that women cannot hold a mens title and vice versa. Matches between men and women are thought to still be a possibility. She also thought she would be entered into one of the ONLY THE BEST brackets only for that to be scuppered. Amazonia then contacted Rouser after this bad news to ask advice on how best to protest against this. However he tried to take advantage by luring her to a secret location. On arriving Amazonia realises there is nobody else around but she is inquisitive and shouts out “where are you, is this a trick?” Suddenly Rouser springs out the shadows and tries a sexual advance. Amazonia pushes him off and attempts to leave. Rouser tries to then put her in a sleeper after which he might of tried to have his wicked way. Suffice to say he ended up spending a couple of nights in hospital after he was thrown over the top and then knocked out by Amazonia’s shield when trying to get back up. Funnily enough Nora Pelf had a similar incident just days later. She was walking through Centrapolis in a quiet area and someone came up behind with chloroform. Instinctively she threw an elbow back before her mouth was cupped and caught the intruder in the gut. He had a balaclava on to hide his identity. Sadly he ran off clutching his stomach before Nora could identify them. The physical profile was similar to Rouser (skinny as a rake). So the two attacks could be connected and that Rouser is some sort of sexual predator to go with all his other bad qualities. Unbelievably Amazonia and Nora Pelf aren’t thinking of pressing charges as (a) they don’t think it will go anywhere, especially with everyone so consumed with the Massacre murder saga and (b) they’d rather punish Rouser in the ring. As I was writing about OTB in the first paragraph I suddenly realised how difficult it was going to be trying to whittle the field down to 8 per bracket. So many top wrestlers and teams who probably deserve inclusion set to miss out. So I have decided to run some OTB qualifier matches. Will be a couple of dark shows but I’ll report the results. Of course there are certain wrestlers and teams that are a cert to be included (last years winners all given first refusal). These qualifiers are for the ones on the cusp. Some big names being made to go through this process including Corporal Aegis. I have decided to let Grovel bypass and go straight into the Hardcore bracket. Got to have him/it in that if it’s going to be all Lava Pit matches! I was tempted to add a ladies OTB as have ran these a couple times in the past but in the end decided not to do so. Maybe in a few years it can become a regular thing. INJURED – none; SUSPENDED – none WRESTLER OF THE MONTH: THUNDER - stopped the reemergence of Pegasus on the Heavyweight belt scene in its tracks. It was a typically explosive performance from Thunder and has probably consigned Pegasus to the scrap heap. In a strange way the title defence felt like a passing of the torch moment. Thunder has long been touted as the next great superstar and might be just about ready to realise that. Honourable mentions must also go out to Wolf for his remarkable winning streak (nine matches) and Genocide for steamrolling the opposition (mixing it up in tag and singles). TAG TEAM OF THE MONTH: TITAN ATTACK - getting back into gear right in time for OTB with a brilliant performance over Society of Death. The feud might have more legs in it but the squash manner of victory might just of sealed it there and then. Cannot see Krakan in too much of a hurry to send his ageing team up against them again. The gap in ability is just too huge. Still look the likeliest team to match Twin Blood. If only a certain someone would grant them another title shot.

DARK SHOW 1 – TERRONAUT TOWERS: OTB qualifier matches. DQ outcomes possible. Nobody allowed ringside. 6 matches show. Tonight the focus is on qualifying for the Hardcore bracket with a couple of tag qualifiers also taking place. The Code Enforcer and Mayhem both lose control to cause a double DQ. Wild stuff. The Code Enforcer more than happy to brawl it out. He’s desperate to be in the hardcore bracket. Especially as he’s won 2 of the last 3. Mayhem has been in most of them but only prevailed in one, way back in 2100. It would have been sad to see one of them miss out. The reality is even sadder as they both totally lose control and engage in a brawl outside the ring that simply couldn’t be ignored by the referee. The Code Enforcer was coming at Mayhem with a crowbar. Whilst Mayhem was armed with a chain. Double DQ had to be called. Means both are out. Not sure if anyone will be called up to take their place or whether their proposed opponent, Wolf, will now receive a bye into the second round. Vyper over Splatter by DQ. Love it when the draw throws two feuding enemies together. Splatter owes Vyper one after losing to him at GALACTICON. He has never won OTB and unfortunately is never likely to what with being older now. Unfortunately he realises his chances are low and seeks to try and injure Vyper instead. After just a couple of moves he exits the ring and drags Vyper out with him. Then picks up Arsenal and starts wildly swinging at him. He struck literally everything but Vyper himself. Chairs get bent and tables were broken. There was quite a bit of damage. Vyper is smart. Even though a dash down the runway was blocked he gets away by jumping the barriers and heading into the crowd. Splatter tried to follow but is slower and clumsier. Security were able to restrain him. Blazing Skull burned Warfare. The hulking Warfare dwarfed Blazing Skull as they sized up. Warfare has struggled to use his immense size and power to his advantage since entering the GWFC. There have been sporadic moments where he has impressed but tonight was not one of them. He began very brightly and was often overpowering Blazing. Then he missed a deathjump and was nearly pinned there and then. After that Blazing completely took over and whilst it took two of them he was able to roast Warfare with DEATH BY FIRE (+3) to qualify. Lance At-Las upsets Draconian Sheik. Lance steps out his comfort zone to try and reach the hardcore bracket. He looks confident having only recently beaten Drac by DQ in a match that he was dominating to that point. Lance managed to win again. It wasn’t quite the same level of domination this time but Drac looked lost without the Terrorists. Lance takes advantage and uses MARS MANHANDLER to close it out. Theatre of Pain stun Malice and Overkill with a count-out victory. The Gladiators are angry. They have repeatedly come up short as a duo ever since Thunder and Malice switched roles. Although its not Malice whose been the problem. Overkill has been the vulnerable one. Tonight though it’s Malice who comes a cropper. It was a long contest which slowly the Gladiators were gaining control of. Overkill began to manhandle Comedy and tagged in Malice to start the sequence for UNSTOPPABLE FORCE. Tragedy entered the ring to try and save Comedy. Rather than ignore him or leave to Overkill to deal with Malice began to brawl with him. They both toppled over the top rope and continued out on the floor. All the while the ref was counting. Malice clearly forgot he was legal man in and realised too late to avoid being counted-out. It was a shocking moment for the Gladiators and probably for the first time ever they will not have a tag team competing at OTB. Desolation Factor annihilated Cygnus Strikeforce. Desolation Factor is another frustrating team to watch. Sometimes devastating and looking like they could be ready to dominate the tag team scene and then they’ll go and stumble to lesser teams they should beat. Must drive Commando Sam mad or at least madder than he already is. At least he wasn’t at ringside to create a scene with Mangus what with tensions being heightened recently. Anyway tonight Desolation Factor were devastating. Within the first 4 moves they subjected US. Traitor to Demolition Factor and RACKED AND RUINED (twice). Traitor probably won’t or thanked Maelstrom for his pin saves. Somehow Traitor got the hit tag. Only it wasn’t very hot as Maelstrom got pummelled instead and when RACKED AND RUINED came his way US. Traitor was in no condition to help him.

DARK SHOW 2 – TERRONAUT TOWERS: OTB qualifier matches. DQ outcomes possible. Nobody allowed ringside. 6 matches show. Tonight the focus is on qualifying for the Heavyweight bracket again with a couple of tag qualifiers to round things out. Corporal Aegis sneaks past Anarchy by DQ. Tough route for Aegis into OTB. He isn’t concerned and said beforehand “to win you are going face the best of the best at some point, I just hope Maleph leaves me alone and lets us have a fair match”. Clearly hadn’t been told that managers were all been banned from being at ringside for these qualifiers. Aegis does Centra proud as he takes a hard earned DQ win. Found most of his offence broken up by Anarchy’s penchant for heading outside. Struggled to get a rhythm. Anarchy’s actions meant he was walking a tightrope with the ref and he just wouldn’t heed the warnings about leaving the ring and eventually paid for it. Genocide is too much for Bloodline to handle. Bloodline probably cannot believe his luck. Of all the people to draw it was Genocide. As soon as the lunatic burst through the curtain he gives a resigned look up to the heavens. The ref, of all people, catches on and snaps his fingers in front of Bloodline’s face to restore some focus. Upon engaging Bloodline actually gets some decent offence. Sometimes you can surprise yourself as he competes well using his superior agility to do something damage. Ultimately the rage and power of Genocide does win out though and CORPUS GENOCIDE leads to the pin. Even then Bloodline almost survived if as he managed to get a shoulder up albeit a fraction too late. Paragon crushed Archon. Whose playing the hero and villain? Both are actually heroes but neither is among the most popular of them. Archon is considered too intense and of course Paragon has a chequered past. Anyway it’s over all too quickly for anyone to really take sides. Paragon set the tone with a Big Man choke slam in only the second move of the match. It was pretty close to actually winning the match there and then. Archon was pretty winded and slow to kick out. Close shave but just 3 moves later he wasn’t getting away with it. Paragon used FINAL OVERTURE to win and send a very clear signal to the other combatants that he’s back. Very impressive. Terminus overcomes Max Shield by DQ. Cagey affair. Neither wanted to leave themselves open to a mistake with something as prestigious as a spot at OTB on offer. Takes a good five minutes before any of the big moves see the light of day. Once things loosen up a bit it gets more entertaining. Max then gets very frustrated as Terminus throws him out of the ring. Thinks he’s doing it way too much. He shouts out “okay, if it’s a brawl you want then let’s do it” and he drags Terminus out with him. The crowd loves it as Max then buries him into the ring steps. Their joy is short lived. The ref has had his patience tested a few times tonight already (see the Betrayers-Mad Jesters match below) and is now very intolerant to this sort of stuff. He controversially disqualified Max to cause widespread heartbreak. The Betrayers over Team With No Name by DQ. Wraith and Trench may prefer to get a singles push but they’ve proven a very effective duo when they have teamed. They get a rather easy passage to OTB as they grab a quick DQ win. The unhinged Mad Jesters have little interest in participating in a wrestling match. They come out loaded with condiments. After only a few moves the cloned Jester shouts “food fight” and picks up the ketchup bottle and fires it at the referee. The other Jester proceeds to squirt mustard over both Trench and Wraith. Bit of a farce really and the ring looks a mess. If someone had just switched on at that point and seen all the red they might of thought this had been a bloodbath. Would surely not of believe this was just ketchup everywhere. The Ravagers pick up a messy win over Transformer by DQ. The Ravagers have misfired of late. Just when they were starting to pick up some good wins Ventross went on a singles run and it disrupted their rhythm. Since getting back into tag teaming they’ve mainly lost. Plus there is always speculation that Rankor might turn on the ROC. Therefore a good run in OTB is badly needed. They have a pretty good chance of making the event as Transformer are in an even worse spot and looked all over the place last time they wrestled. Suffering from a lack of attention and guidance from Doomsayer. Although the Ravagers do get the win it’s quite messy looking. Ventross wasn’t really at the races and Rankor was more impressive. They kept botching ropes manoeuvres to let Transformer back in it. Transformer were actually on offence when the end came. Nth Degree showing exactly why they badly needed Doomsayer at ringside as he lost self control and caused his team to be disqualified. This would be the start of a glut of DQ outcomes on what was a less than memorable card which I’m sure the GWFC was glad that it wasn’t broadcast other than to show a few highlights.

ONLY THE BEST PREVIEW:
The matches have now been set. As always there are high profile omissions. None bigger than the Gladiators of Malice and Overkill failing to reach the tag team bracket. Other notable ones are Max Shield (Singles), Mayhem (Hardcore) and the Code Enforcer (Hardcore). The pairings have thrown up many great matches though I have to say tie of the round for me is Mandrill-Genocide. It maybe that Genocide has moved onto feuding with the Brymstonians as part of the Centaurians but old feuds and rivalries often continue and this is the case here. Genocide, for all his unpredictable rage and anger, remains close to the ROC and his old friends. Mandrill must of been cursing when the draw came up. Controversially Wolf gets a bye in the Hardcore bracket and will await the winner of Painmaster against Grovel.
SINGLES … Pegasus-Corporal Aegis … Terminus-Rising Sun … Thunder-Paragon … Mandrill-Genocide
TAG TEAM … Ninja Assassins-The Ravagers … Titan Attack-The Betrayers … Twin Blood-Theatre of Pain … Rebel Empire-Desolation Factor
HARDCORE … Wolf receives a bye … Painmaster-Grovel … Skinhead-Vyper … Blazing Skull-Lance At-Las

CARD 1181 – RUINS OF ANTILIA: Anaxis defeated Thrash to become the new ladies champion. Thrash has probably been going through the best phase of her career and looks to move the length of her title reign into double digits. Anaxis is a dangerous opponent not to be underestimated though. Thrash was wary of that ridiculously large bowl prop Anaxis carried to the ring. She immediately pulls a spike out from her shoulder pad and warns Anaxis not to try and use that thing or else. Anaxis wasn’t intimidated at all by this and actually made a flying start. Thrash didn’t expect this and took a good while to get going at all. When she did Anaxis showed great resilience against her aggressive moves and did a good job of keeping away from FEMME FATAL. The contest became a very even one until Anaxis crucially come out tops in an outside brawl and quick as lightening stunned Thrash with a perfect cross body off the top rope. Like all good wrestlers she then hooked the leg and really leaned into the pin to get the three. It was a big surprise that Thrash had again surrendered the belt so quickly. She has failed to ever become the dominant women wrestler that Aethra expects. This time it felt like it might have been different but in the end it’s the same old story. Murdok beats Dreadnaught in a long and exhausting Centra Coffin match. Once again Dreadnaught has to deal with a coffin match. If anyone might finish him off for good it could easily be Murdok. Something that would only add to the fear factor Murdok gives off. Dreadnaught, if he wants to keep getting booked, is having to go along with these match types. Unusually the coffin is set up amid the ruins instead of directly beside the ring. Murdok eerily arrives not via the runway but from the distant horizon where his tomb surfaced. The shadowy figure eerily getting bigger and bigger before coming into full focus. Dreadnaught to his credit didn’t look scared and beckoned Murdok into the ring. He wrestled probably the best match in many years and really takes it to Murdok. Even putting 4 tokens against him (with a little bit of help from Thantos). Trouble is Dreadnaught accumulated 14 himself before the lid finally got closed on him. There were a few worrying moments including a roll on the death chart before things reached a conclusion. It was sad to see Dreadnaught lose again although the big crumb of comfort was he appeared to be breathing and alive as he was removed from the coffin. Corporal Aegis over Pegasus by DQ. This was scheduled long before OTB. As fate would have it they are now drawn to face each other in the first round. So this serves as a dress rehearsal. The only difference is Reynard B. Guile will not be allowed at ringside for the tournament match. Pegasus arrogantly proclaims the overrated hero of Centra will probably withdraw from the tournament after he’s felt what he is up against tonight. Aegis almost makes him eat those words as CORPORAL PUNISHMENT causes B. Guile to storm the ring drawing a DQ. Aegis grabs the scrawny manager by the collar in response only to get smashed down from behind by Pegasus. They both end up brawling to the back. Aegis later warns Pegasus that in their tournament match there will be nobody to save him and he’ll have to fight his own battles. Archon and Code Enforcer get the better of Mayhem and Spike. These two old timers are being paired up a lot. They have been showing the regular tag team of Malice and Overkill up. Tonight they almost grab another win when Mayhem cannons into Archon with LEAP OF DOOM (+4). Archon hangs in there though and his team fights back. Archon particulary instrumental as his submission moves wear Spike down. The Code Enforcer then takes advantage to throat slam suplex Spike for the pin. Ninja Assassins too nifty for Rigel Warriors. Strange as it sounds but the Rigel Warriors can count themselves unlucky not to be in OTB. They’ve done better than expected. Even in defeat tonight they came out with honour. Made the Ninja Assassins work hard to win. They saw their finisher foiled a couple of times on both opponents for varying reasons. However third time lucky as DOUBLE EDGE SWORD eventually beats Lance. Fortunately Lance isn’t too disappointed as he was given an alternative route into OTB via the hardcore bracket which he grasped with both hands. He will surely enjoy huge backing by the small number of fans that will be permitted to go to Primus. Amazonia has a tough time in beating Rouser. Revenge opportunity for Amazonia. Everyone hoping she beats the snot out of Rouser. It almost doesn’t happen though. Rouser gets plenty of offence and comes close to winning after SMASH WITH SIGN. Amazonia through sheer will forces herself to kick out. There was plenty more punishment to come before she can get herself properly on top and find some rhythm. Ultimately she manages to strike with RUNNING SABRE a couple of times to take victory.

CARD 1182 – ONLY THE BEST (Hardcore) – LAVA PITS OF PRIMUS: (Last year’s winner – Wolf) Added Attractions: Tag champs, Twin Blood, in cruise control against Ninja Assassins. Hasn’t taken Reynard B. Guile long to get over the disappointment of Pegasus failing to land the Heavyweight belt. He is now bragging about how he has masterminded the resurrection of the Ninja Assassins. So it was good to see him getting egg on his face as Twin Blood completely dominated. Both Ninjas had plenty of ring time but mustered very little offence. Daeman ended up being the one beaten as Twin Blood linked up to finish with SEEING DOUBLE. Just don’t see how anyone can beat Twin Blood at the moment. Their chemistry is incredible.
The Soulwatcher pinned Sir Ender. With Wolf getting a bye there was an extra match booked to fill the usual show 8 match quota (that’s my OCD setting in). Sir Ender lords it up as he comes down the runway “can’t have a big event without me, the most charismatic, charming, brave and talented wrestler of them all”. Of course he fails miserably as the Soulwatcher needs just a couple of minutes to dispose of him via a Rapture Edge. First Round (All Lava Pit matches): Painmaster escapes against Grovel. Painmaster is angry the hardcore bracket got changed to Lava Pit matches as he has proved something of a cage match specialist. Despite this setback and the fact the primitives might try to help Grovel he negotiates this hurdle comfortably enough. Did take a couple of heavy hits but is far too nimble for Grovel and is able to dart out of the pit after a Painmaster Stretch Bomb. Vyper gets past Skinhead with a helping hand. Skinhead is another angry guy. Feels like he’s been stiffed out of a rightful shot at Heavyweight belt and now finding himself pushed into the hardcore bracket when he had eyes on the singles competition. He was in no mood for Vyper’s pre-match snake handling routine and attacked whilst he was in the middle of it. Vyper ended up with his own snake wrapped around his neck. Skinhead didn’t relent and made a dominating start. However it was all undone when a primitive chucked a rock into the pit and it caught him right on the top of the head. Skinhead was very groggy after that and Vyper was able to take advantage. After hitting a shoulder breaker he made for an escape. Scooping up his pet snake in the process. The snake seemed to bother the primitives and meant Vyper had an unchallenged path. Blazing Skull eliminated Lance At-Las. Lance was very worried about being burned by Blazing Skull who might not hesitate to use the full force of DEATH BY FIRE due to their being no DQ risk. The only thing that might hold Blazing back is the threat of a suspension. As it happened Blazing didn’t need to resort to it at all. He was more than happy using the gravel and rocks littered about to inflict damage to Lance. Sadly Lance looked out of his depth in this hostile hardcore environment. Blazing puts him out of his misery with a couple of applications of BURNING TOUCH to setup the win. It means we are guaranteed a villain winner of the bracket. All the hero wrestlers came up short. Second Round: Wolf sees off Painmaster in a gripping match. Wolf was awaiting the winner of the Code Enforcer-Mayhem match which ended in a double DQ. Controversially he’s given a bye as a result. Means he’s totally fresh. It’s probably the tiny detail that just about gave him the edge here. Painmaster wrestled a great match and almost posted a fast victory after THE TORTURE RACK. Wolf just about pulled him off the side of the pit. If he’d wrestler earlier then he may not of got to him in time. Painmaster looks irritated and tries to carry on with his early dominance. Wolf stands up to him better though after this near miss. Even another stint in THE TORTURE RACK cannot stop Wolf who was gathering momentum. Out of nowhere Wolf then launches a furious offensive wave and ends it on SAVAGE FACE CLAW. He held it in long enough to render Painmaster incapable of impeding Wolf’s escape. Despite the primitives lurking Wolf showed no fear and looked like he might actually brawl with them if they came near him. This was Wolf’s tenth win in a row. I’ve never kept a record of the longest winning runs but surely any that go into double digits have got to be pretty high on the all time list. Wolf would be hoping for an eleventh straight win as that would mean he’d retained the OTB Hardcore trophy and extended his record to 5 tournament wins in this bracket. Only trouble was his conditioning as Painmaster putting him in the rack had left some lasting damage.
Blazing Skull too hot for Vyper. Two of the notorious villains in the current fed had to wage war with a spot in the final against Wolf at stake. Vyper chose to leave his snakes behind. He probably didn’t want them being burned alive by Blazing Skull. Without doubt Blazing was the favourite. He had a far easier match in the last round. Unsurprisingly he comes through to win. Not as plain sailing as he’d hoped though. He had early control and used BURNING TOUCH a couple of times. With Vyper already carrying fatigue it left him in a precarious position. Suddenly the tide turned and Vyper threatened a major victory. Rocking Blazing with his whole repertoire before going for the kill with VYPER’S SIDESHOW. He was almost at the top of the pit ready to escape after that when he suddenly pauses to check the location of a nearby group of primitives. That pause was fatal as Blazing was able to then grab an ankle and pull him back into the pit. Vyper fell awkwardly and lost all his momentum. Blazing now had lots of time and started to build up a small pile of rock fragments. Then in the sort of sick move only a Brymstonian would think of he smashes Vyper into the pile with a DDT. Vyper was knocked unconscious after that affording Blazing an easy escape.
Final: Blazing Skull toasts Wolf to win the bracket. What a final as two Brymstone Burning team members have to face each other. They are not exactly a close knit group so neither cares about this. In fact they are relishing it and start ferociously grappling before a bell even sounds. Nothing is held back as rocks and gravel are used throughout. They were even having to dodge missiles courtesy of the primitives. Fast forward to the most significant moment of the match and Wolf was trying to scramble his way out after a Howling Moonsault took all the wind out of Blazing. It hurt them both but Wolf smelt victory. He was virtually out with one foot on the ledge when a primitive leapt at him. Wolf fell backwards and tumbled back down. Much like the match before Blazing had been given a lifeline. He starts savaging Wolf and then subjects him to DEATH BY FIRE. Mercifully the weaker and more controlled explosion happens. Still devastating though. Wolf is left in the centre with some of his hair smouldering and unable to do anything about Blazing’s escape. The explosion had startled the primitives and sent them running so he had a clear way out. Blazing looks back down at Wolf from the edge of the pit and shouts in “you are lucky that we are on the same team now or that explosion would have been worse”. He then grabs his trophy after an official had dropped it trying to pass it over. It was too hot too touch having sat close to a small fire that had broken out as a result of the earlier detonation of Blazing’s head.

CARD 1183 – ONLY THE BEST (Tag) – CENTRA PALLADIUM: (Last year’s winners – Twin Blood) Added Attraction: Heavyweight champ, Thunder, defends against Wolf. Guaranteed to be feisty. No way the Gladiators were going to lay off Wolf. Doesn’t matter that he has past associations and is now fighting on the side of the villains. Wolf was showing no hangover from his OTB final loss to Blazing Skull and making all sorts of threatening gestures towards Thunder with his claws. He has said that he doesn’t care about winning belts but wasn’t about to pass this opportunity up. For someone who doesn’t care that much about belts and awards a career record of 7 Heavyweight belts, 1 Interplanetary, 1 Heavy Metal, 1 CPC Heavyweight, 1 Wrestler of Year, 1 Colby Cup, 1 Team Supreme and 4 OTB Hardcore isn’t a bad one to have. He’s one of the most decorated wrestlers of all time. Although he often doesn’t hold titles for long. A few of these belt runs aren’t in the lineage due to immediately dropping the belt (for example 2 of those Heavyweight belt victories led to an immediate loss of the title in the first defence). Anyway going slightly off tangent and back to summarising the match. Was interesting that Maleph chose to be at ringside despite not wanting to go to war with the Gladiators. Although he did keep his movements to a minimum and seemed not to be wanting to incur the wrath of Brute. There was plenty of movement in the ring though as they tore into each other. Two guys known for their intensity meant you couldn’t take your eyes off for a second. They traded moves for about a minute and then Wolf started getting on a roll. Managing to get several high impact moves in without a response. After nailing a front face DDT the Gladiators decided not to take any chances. Thunder had already just evaded getting pinned with a borderline kick out. They all arrive for a planned gang attack. Spike distracted the referee whilst Mayhem entered the ring and took Wolf down from behind with a clothesline. It was pretty despicable really as Thunder then held Wolf down so Brute could smash him with the Aethran Casque. Maleph was unable to react because he was being attacked by the other Gladiators including Malice and Overkill. All the while the referee had allowed himself to be totally distracted by Spike. When he finally succeeds in sending Spike away and turns around all he sees is Wolf being hit with THE TEMPEST. The pin that followed probably had more to do with being struck by the Casque than the finisher but it was the final move and will go down in the record books as what ended it. The crowds may not love Wolf much anymore though they were horrified at what they’d witnessed and showed their disdain for the Gladiators. First Round: The Ravagers blow away Ninja Assassins. Two teams to kick off arguably the weaker side of the draw. Everyone just pretty relieved they cannot face Twin Blood til the final at earliest and fancying their chances of getting at least as far as that. Particularly the Ninja Assassins who have only just been taught a lesson by Twin Blood. That had been pretty one-sided although maybe this was even more so. I don’t know if it was a case of the Ravagers being awesome or the Ninja Assassins being awful. Probably a bit of both. It was over really quickly. Total domination from the Ravagers as they won via RAVAGER FACE DROP on Daeman. Titan Attack use their speed to see off the Betrayers. Lord Nexus knows all about betrayal from his long career. He instructs his young guns to beat these traitors, Wraith and Trench, and show solidarity with the ROC team. If there is a slight criticism of Lord Nexus is he probably thinks of others too much. Ironically they will now have to face their ‘friends’ on the ROC team for a place in the final. They do the business here as the Betrayers, particularly Wraith, just cannot cope with the speed and agility of the Titans. Scion Nexus looking inspired as he uses FLYING TITAN to see off Wraith. Twin Blood makes easy work of Theatre of Pain. Twin Blood are the overwhelming favourites to win the tournament again. However they must be wary of Theatre of Pain. Any team that can beat the Gladiators has to be taken seriously. However Twin Blood makes such easy work of them. Only Dreggs and Comedy featured. Dreggs just looking untouchable as he quickly wins it after DREGGS OF DEFEAT. Sleeze played his part though by flooring Tragedy before he could make a pin save. Even by Twin Blood’s high standards this was impressive. Desolation Factor stay hot to progress past Rebel Empire. Desolation Factor has been destroying the opposition in their past few matches. Consistency has always plagued them though and eveyone was half expecting the wheels to come off here. However they managed to stay hot with another powerful performance. Mostly on top apart from a brief moment from Nefarus using SCISSORDRIVER on Ruin. Nefarus held his own in the match. It was Vendetta who had a night to forget. He bumped the ref which didn’t work well for him and also felt RACKED AND RUINED three times in all. The last one of which finished him off. It meant the tag bracket has gone the opposite way to the hardcore bracket where all the heroes have prevailed in the first round.
Second Round: Titan Attack eliminated the Ravagers. Two fan favourite teams going at it. Understandably the Ravagers probably getting more of the crowd backing which the Titan duo didn’t seem to mind. They just got on with the wrestling. There were no handshakes before the bell which is probably just as well with someone like Rankor given his moody demeanour. Lots action in the match. Even though the Titans have the edge most of the time the Ravagers do give them a run for their money. Scion Nexus had to find a kick out after RAVAGER FACE DROP and then rely on Ursa Major to help out after SEVERED TIES. Before those moments Rankor had endured a torrid time where he was subjected to literally every finisher the two Titans had. That all eventually caught up with him and he was the one to fall as Ursa Major used a Titan Drop on him as the time approached ten minutes. Although this was disappointment for the Ravagers they had a solid run in the tournament and gone further than their recent form had suggested.
Twin Blood make Desolation Factor look like jobbers. Mouth watering contest. The two form teams in the fed meeting. It would have been a worthy final. Instead they are grappling for a place in the final. If Desolation Factor could just keep their consistency going they might just stand a chance of stopping Twin Blood picking up their third OTB win in the last 4. Everyone looked pretty fresh. The only one carrying a hint of fatigue was Ruin after having a couple of pin attempts made on him in the last match. They start off against Dreggs and try to hit him hard straight away. Doing things at a million miles an hour. Dreggs is so experienced that he easily counters their early attacks and then pulls off a Frankensteiner which was incredible considering the size of Ruin. Just like that it was over. Ruin was stunned long enough to be pinned. It was another unbelievable win from Twin Blood. They just seem to have all the answers no matter who they wrestle. What is noteworthy about their run to the final is that across their two matches they have barely wrestled more than 2 or 3 minutes. Plus Sleeze hasn’t even had to step into the ring yet.
Final: Twin Blood continues their domination of the tag bracket as they beat Titan Attack. Hugely popular final between the two best tag teams around. We rarely get to see them square off as Lord Nexus doesn’t like to rock the boat and face other hero teams. On the rare occasions they have done Twin Blood has always had the edge. Maybe tonight could finally be a chance for Titan Attack to shine. They are just unlucky to be in an era where one team is so good or else they would surely have more than their single belt win almost 7 years ago. It’s one of those debated ones too as they lost the belts immediately to Lords of Fire and isn’t officially recognised in the title lineage by the fed as a result. Lord Nexus knows deep down they are great tag team but worries they will be like his Titan Power and massively underachieve. For the historians out there Titan Power only ever won the titles once in 2088 and immediately lost them just 4 cards later to the Henchmen. It’s incredible to think one of that team, Dreadnaught, is still wrestling today. Anyway totally gone off topic here. This is the OTB final and what a final it was. Titan Attack made a dazzling start and had Dreggs on the rack. He managed to get the hot tag to Sleeze and after that the pendulum swung back and forth. Both teams had big moments and it was impossible to predict a winner. What was amazing was the pace of the match. It just never relented. Twin Blood were certainty the more heelish of the teams and much more prepared to take to the outside. They seemed to be doing it more and more as the minutes ticked by. They’ve had it so good for so long that it was a frustration setting in that they couldn’t control things like they usually do. It was a bit of a dirty finish too. Ursa Major had caught Dreggs with a Major Moonsault. Dreggs looked very vulnerable so Sleeze came in for the pin save. Not really a heel trait in itself but Ursa Major tried to reason with Sleeze and keep things fair. Maybe some kind of gentleman’s agreement had been struck before the match. Anyway whilst he did this Dreggs got back up and took Ursa Major down from behind with a clothesline and then locked in TWIST AND SHOUT. Scion Nexus looked shocked on the apron as Ursa Major tapped out. It meant Twin Blood had won the trophy again. You had to feel sorry for Titan Attack. Perhaps they need to try and be a bit tougher if they want to succeed.

CARD 1184 – ONLY THE BEST (Singles) – CENTRA PALLADIUM: (Last year’s winner – Pegasus) Added Attraction: Centra champ, Painmaster, loses to Draconian Sheik by count-out. Painmaster has been complaining ever since the Hardcore bracket about how he was shafted by the switch to Lava Pit matches and also having to face Wolf who was fresh. Really needs to be concentrating on this defence as the threat of Draconian Sheik and the Terrorists is a very real one. Rouser had a freshly painted sign calling for the Terrorists to be banned. However he was wary of them and keeping a safe distance. Drac, as usual, was staring at the lights as he was led into the ring. It took Painmaster striking him to get him going. The match itself was a right old mess. I’ve never rolled so many counters on the charts and missed deathjumps. Painmaster struggled most in this respect and his token count was creeping up. Drac failed to go for his finisher though which let him off the hook. Then Painmaster got it together and managed to get Drac in THE TORTURE RACK only to have powder thrown in his eyes by the Terrorists. Shortly after they were at it again as Drac tossed Painmaster outside where they attacked him again. Rouser was complaining but all that did was help distract the ref whilst they did this. Clearly they didn’t place much value in winning the belt as they would have known a count-out win wasn’t good enough. Painmaster tried to beat the count back after the savaging. He was just too beaten up and still having problems with his eyes after the power incident. First Round: Pegasus recovers from recent setbacks to eliminate Corporal Aegis. Pegasus giving it all the biggen as he conveniently forgets his recent epic fail to win the Heavyweight belt. He arrogantly has the champagne already on ice and believes he’s going to retain the trophy that he only won for the first time last year. The fans are right behind Aegis though and would love nothing more than for him to wipe the smug look off Pegasus’s face. Unfortunately he comes up short. It might still be a bit early to write Pegasus off. He looks stronger right from the opening bell. Try as he might Aegis doesn’t get too much going above L1O. Pegasus picks him off and with the help of Total Submission as a wear down then uses PROJECT PEGASUS to finish things. The early elimination of Aegis means the ROC has not fared too well at OTB. Only the Ravagers had any kind of a run in their bracket. Rising Sun at his dazzling best to beat Terminus. DM on commentary wants Rising Sun to do well and repeat last years shock run to the final but is sceptical about his chances. He is in the booth with Lord Nexus and doesn’t think Rising Sun can match up to Terminus “I hope I’m wrong but I think Terminus is on the verge of becoming one of the greats. He’s got so much wrestling ability and lots of power too. Could be the dark horse”. Lord Nexus is taken back that DM doesn’t have more faith “Rising Sun won the Heavyweight belt this year. I know he didn’t hold it very long but it shows he is in the top bracket. Plus don’t forget that he beat Terminus at GALACTICON. Have more faith my friend. We both know what he can do”. Together they kept everything crossed and Rising doesn’t dissapoint. Brings his very best to the table. Which is needed when facing a guy like Terminus. Manages to match him all the way and even uses the outside to help despite raised eyebrows from Lord Nexus. However these are all Titan Death matches and sometimes you got to change up your style in them. Rising manages to end it on SUNSET SPECTACULAR to set up a clash with Pegasus in the next round. Paragon beats Thunder in a classic. Paragon controversially got into this bracket ahead of Skinhead. Johnny Rocket had to placate Skinhead by telling him “its because you’ve got more fire in your belly and that suits you being in the hardcore bracket”. Of course that didn’t go well as Skinhead bombed out although Johnny’s decision looked vindicated by the way Paragon demolished Archon to qualify for the bracket he won as recently as 2109. Of course this was now Thunder to face, the current Heavyweight champ, and on paper a much tougher proposition. It becomes a titanic battle between them. Paragon started the stronger and was trying to use his finisher with Thunder doing well to avoid it. Then Thunder comes on really strong himself and offloads his full arsenal of devastating moves. There were also plenty of battles outside of the ring. Both guys hit their finishers plenty of times in the final few minutes. Given the potency of FINAL OVERTURE it was impressive that Thunder was able to survive as long as he did. Must of kicked out of at least a couple. However Paragon kept trying for it. Sometimes Thunder got to the ropes to break the hold. Eventually it got him and Paragon was able to win. The fact both had 5 tokens at the end means this was a 5* classic no question. It’s a definite match of the year contender. Johnny Rocket might now be harbouring hopes of the Rocketmen winning two of the OTB brackets although the draining nature of the match will make it difficult for Paragon in the next round. Especially with Mandrill or Genocide as the opponent. Genocide gets the better of Mandrill to progress. Mandrill feels he should have right of passage to the next round as the biggest star in the GWFC. Citing the fact Wolf got a bye in the hardcore bracket based on reputation. He also complains that “if Murdok and Vengeance were denied entry because the sponsor thinks they project a bad image then they should extend it to Genocide. He is the most dangerous and unhinged of them all”. No such luck on the complaining though and the curtain twitches. Mandrill could only now hope it might be Buck Steele that comes through it and not Genocide but that is a rarity these days. His shoulders slump as Genocide bursts through. By the time Genocide reaches the ring though Mandrill has already armed himself with a chair. He gets a few hits in before Genocide rips it out of his hands and flings it dangerously into the crowd. Those hits did take a toll though as Mandrill has a lot of offence for the first minutes. Even able to use COLONIZER CLAW SLAM a couple of times. Didn’t really come close on the rolls to getting the pin though. It was only a matter of time before Genocide got an adrenaline surge and when it came Mandrill couldn’t stand up to it. Wilting under the ferocity of a berserk pounding assault and then pinned. Genocide surges into the next round. Second Round: Rising Sun keeps the dream alive as he overcomes Pegasus. Repeat of last year’s final. DM less pessimistic about Rising Sun’s chances this time around “after the way he dealt with Terminus I now firmly believe he can make the final, Pegasus is still a great wrestler but despite all his bragging he has dropped a level”. The early grappling suggested it was going to be a very close match up. They spent a lot of time cancelling each other out. Neither really able to string two moves together before there was a counter response. Then all of a sudden an impromptu crowd chant for Rising Sun rings out. Absolutely deafening and Rising instantly responds to it. For the first time getting a run of moves together. The belief is there and he goes for his finishers. A quick wave of them as SUPER DRAGON DROP is followed by SUNSET SPECTACULAR and then the Dragon Drop again. The Pegasus of a few years ago may of been able to weather this storm. Not this time though as Rising gets the pin after this flurry to reach back to back finals. He is in dreamland at the possibility of now winning this whole thing as an outsider. He’s not carrying a single token into the final either so might have a big chance.
Genocide battered Paragon. Would be a miracle if Paragon makes it through another round. The titanic clash with Thunder had taken so much out of him. Plus this was Genocide to contend with. Although Mandrill had left some lasting damage on him too. Not enough though as Genocide is mega hyped up and completely overwhelms the exhausted Paragon. It only lasted about three minutes. Paragon unable to really get any offence going. A berserk pounding assault left him struggling to get up and Genocide then went to the top of the turnbuckles. Only hope was if Paragon could get out of the way. However he was barely able to stand much less try and dodge it. Genocide slams into him like a wrecking ball and secures an easy win. He’d even shed one of his fatigue tokens because of the ease of victory. So he heads into the final in better shape than this match. Wouldn’t want to be in Rising Sun’s shoes. Doesn’t look like anyone can really stop Genocide at the moment.
Final: Rising Sun does the unthinkable and defeats Genocide to win the trophy. Surely Rising Sun couldn’t last another match and win this trophy. Not when it’s Genocide against him who, apart from a brief spell against Mandrill, has mowed down everybody on his way to the final. It was nice to see Rising offer a handshake to Genocide before they began. Genocide maybe wild but he knows right from wrong and obliges. Although the crushing nature of his grip did make Rising grimace. They then pulled apart and waited for the bell. Genocide was like a bull scraping its hooves as he got ready to go. As soon it rang he charged like a madman. Rising cleverly stepped aside and let Genocide run straight towards the turnbuckle. He could not get the brakes on and collided heavily. From that moment on Rising knew he could do something. He had vastly superior speed and agility. Of course he had to take some ferocious hits during the match but you never felt he was in danger. All the while he was adding to Genocide’s earlier accumulated fatigue with some cheeky pin attempts. He never had to kick out of anything himself. Then after succeeding with a Titan Drop he went for another opportunistic pin. A helpful low roll came up and Rising got the three count just before Genocide threw him off several feet in the air. Too late though and Rising had won the whole event despite being classed as the outsider. Genocide looked crushed and was trying to control his anger. He did have a great run to the final but is not happy to lose and when an official tries to give him a small trophy for being runner up he throws it aside and roars “there are no prizes for coming second” before ripping one of the ropes out of its socket. I suppose rather than attack Rising Sun in a rage it was his way of working off the anger. Once he left the coast was clear for Rising Sun to accept the trophy and celebrate. DM unprofessionally abandoned his commentary post to join his old friend in the ring. Slowly the other Titans appeared. Even Meteor. They all hoisted Rising Sun up and provided a memorable thumbnail for the whole event of him hoisting the trophy high into the air. What a way to finish.

GWFC REPORT (THE END 2111 CARDS 1181 - 1184)
Champions
*GWFC Heavyweight Champ: Thunder (Top Contender: Paragon) *GWFC Tag Champs: Twin Blood (Top Contenders: Titan Attack) *GWFC Centra Champ: Painmaster (Top Contender: Lance At-Las) *GWFC Ladies Champ: Anaxis (Top Contender: Amazonia) Latest News: OTB in review - The stand out performer has to be Blazing Skull for winning the Hardcore tournament considering he had to qualify and then wrestle one more match than fellow finalist Wolf on the night. It also ended Wolf’s impressive winning run at 10 matches. Blazing may be one of the most hated and controversial characters in wrestling history but credit where credit’s due. Of course Rising Sun has to be mentioned too for reaching back to back finals and thjs time around winning the trophy. Many have doubted that is in the very top bracket of wrestlers in the past. Surely they cannot doubt him now. Pegasus was critcised for his OTB run on GWI.com as having “no staying power anymore”. Pegasus is furious and trying to track the author of the article down. Twin Blood were pleased as punch to win their third trophy in 4 years. Despite a bit of a dusty finish the fans still love them. Dreggs said “I apologise to Titan Attack. It was done in the heat of the moment but there was nothing illegal about what I did”. Lord Nexus showed no ill feelings and simply posted back on Centra Spacebook “apology accepted, well done on your victory”. The guy is just too nice. At least his team will finally get a chance to go for the belts as their reward for the run to the final is a title shot. Commissioner Morpheus doesn’t like hero versus hero title matches but makes an exception for the coming month after pressure from the championship committee. Lord Nexus actually sought out Johnny Rocket to check if he minded this challenge. Johnny can be quite rude and arrogant sometimes but simply said “rather face your honourable team than some kind of scummy villain team with no morals, just don’t expect us to whiter than white as we want to keep those belts”. Rouser’s run in the women’s bracket will soon be over! After hearing what he tried to pull with Amazonia and possibly Nora Pelf surely no women will wrestle him now. Plus Commissioner Morpheus is clamping down on these sorts of these matches too. So his last match against a female will be versus Nora Pelf on the next show. That was already booked and she just wants the chance to punish him before washing her hands of him. Johnny Rocket is unhappy though and also wants a piece of Rouser. He’s going to accompany Nora for her own safety and then later in the month put the old wrestling singlet on for a match with Rouser. Usually you would expect Rouser to try and wriggle out of this. Instead he agrees stating “fine, will give me a chance of showing Nora what a real man can do”. It must also be buzzing through his mind that facing someone like Johnny actually gives him a rare chance of winning a match against a male. There’s also one other match on the show featuring a man against a woman. Something we never thought possible and thankfully will only ever happen once. Ms. Liberty faces her ex US. Traitor in one of the most emotional matches ever. She truly believes that he won’t bring himself to hurt her. Strangely she wants to do this alone but Commando Sam won’t let her. He knows Traitor will have Mangus with him and fears for her safety. Sam vows “the minute anything sinister happens I will fight tooth and nail to protect her. She’s like a daughter to me”. Sam hasn’t been particulary over with the fans during his time on Centra. However this has received a very positive response.
Heat between the Gladiators and Brymstone Burning could be building. The Gladiators were brutal in their treatment of Wolf and Maleph. It’s no secret that many villain teams do not want confrontation with the Gladiators and take any aggressive treatment received on the chin. Was this a step too far though? The Brymstone Burning team is not making any noises so far.
Big few months ahead for the ROC. They endured a miserable OTB. Corporal Aegis admits it was not good enough and vows that the team will bounce back. He already has eyes on TEAM SUPREME where he hopes they might make a big statement. It’s an event they badly want to do well in.
Paragon is back in the Heavyweight belt picture. He is next in line for a shot at Thunder. Who knows what psychological impact this may have on his teammate Skinhead who started the year as the main guy on the Rocketmen team and not so long ago main evented GALACTICON. His fall from favour has been pretty swift. INJURED – none; SUSPENDED – none
WRESTLER OF THE MONTH:
BLAZING SKULL - excuse the pun but he was on fire 🔥 as he blazed a trail to the OTB Hardcore trophy. Top stars like Warfare, Lance At-Las, Vyper and Wolf were all blown away by him. For such a feared guy it’s almost a surprise to learn this is the only accolade (apart from most hated) he’s ever won. There was one of those contested tag reigns as part of the Lords of Fire many, many moons ago but the belts were immediately lost in the first title defence to No Fear (who then went and did the same thing).
TAG TEAM OF THE MONTH:
TWIN BLOOD - lost count of how many times they’ve taken the monthly award. Their latest achievement of winning OTB for the third time in 4 years cannot be underplayed. It’s brought them level with the legendary Superiority Complex as the most successful team in the tag bracket.
