GWF REPORT (MEGATOURNAMENT 2101 CARDS 697 - 700)
Champions
* GWF Galaxian Champ: Raven (Top Contender: Monad) * GWF Tag Champs: Thunder and Overkill (Top Contenders: The Zodiac) * GWF Interplanetary Champ: Pulsar (Top Contender: Draconian Sheik)
Latest News:
Turns out Destructon 3000 had warned Raven about putting Eagle in his corner for the title defense against the Matador. Whilst he understands the sentiment having Eagle there was always likely to more of a hindrance than a help because he would be targeted. With Raven’s mind not fully on the match against someone as supremely talented as the Matador it posed big risk. He thinks Raven was lucky to get away with it.
Omega tells Qualitar he is struggling to manage Pegasus’ expectations. “I think when he joined us he expected to be winning belts immediately but it’s not as simple as that. He was brilliant for us in the Battlezone matches but I’m still not sure if he’s ready to represent us in the OTB singles yet. Other guys have paid their dues and I will not allow my hand to be forced. Hopefully he understands and that the grooming process for potential stardom takes time. There is no rift but it might take some time for the partnership with the Champions team to gel”. Reading between the lines this is Omega’s way of telling Pegasus to tow the line and act consistently like a hero with high values or pay the consequences. Pegasus if he is serious about becoming a main event star challenging for belts would be wise to heed his words. Tensions continue to run high between Chaos and Mandrill. They were forced together on #700 and struggled to work effectively. Read further down for an OTB rundown adding more fat on the fire. Surely only a matter of time before it explodes into an internal rift. Who will be the first to crack and attack the other one? Linked to this and the pressure of GWF survival Morpheus is feeling rundown and displaying symptoms of stress. Appearing less at ringside and even some hair loss. Never one to admit weak traits he pushes reporters aside when questioned over it. Qualitar mentioned in his story published in GWI mag how Morpheus left him with neck bruising from a choke hold but is choosing not pursue this with Commissioner Grogan. Instead he says how he feels so sorry that a GWF legend is declining. OTB takes over the whole of next month. Mayhem pitching for a spot in the top OTB bracket (usually he only ever competes for the Hardcore trophy). He demos an online video of himself taking on a whole ring full of Destructon bots and rips all their heads off to show he should be given the chance. Impressive but not enough as Colby-Pelf demand he proves himself worthy by beating ... Vengeance. It is a shocking announcement. It’s as if they are playing games and trying to demonstrate how all their power and wealth can even manipulate the Gladiators. It could be just about the biggest match of all next month and it won’t even be part of the official event! Drama surrounding Chaos and his possible exclusion due to the injuries he has suffered. Morpheus has only been allocated two spots in the singles bracket and must decide between Chaos, Janus, Bishop Hell and Mandrill. As his second in command Mandrill is a shoe in so really it is three guys going for one opening. It would be tough to overlook Bishop Hell who only won the Heavyweight belt recently. Decision being delayed as long as possible but it’s adding to the growing stress. For the first time ever there will be a Ladies division OTB. There is no plan for this to be a regular annual event but given the growing female roster the GWF wanted to show it is fully behind and supporting women’s wrestling. Surely with a move like this it cannot be long until a Ladies championship is created.
Colby and Pelf try to drive further internal dissension into the struggling villain team. Colby said that Heracles met with him at Pelf Palace and offered his services to the independent team but they had to reject him, “he was not ambitious enough to fit in. Guys like the Matador and Vengeance are hungry and we cannot guarantee him the billing he wants. I advised him to lower his expectations and that he will be much better suited staying with Morpheus where he will be a bigger fish”. Heracles is raging at such accusation. Holocaust is in trouble with his manager, Reynard B. Guile. For signing more matches against Mace and getting bogged down in a feud with WAR members when he should be focusing on scoring points. You can understand why he is getting a hot under the collar as it is his career that is on the line at the end of all this. If Colby and Pelf fail then Reynard B. Guile will fall with them. He is already under pressure to keep the Matador in the Heavyweight belt picture and needs both Holocaust and Ram scoring and making stronger designs on the IP belt (if and when Pulsar drops it).
Demons of Hydra got their come uppance against the Savage Kingdom. Stalker disapproves of the incident. Coupled with him not being entirely at ease with Vyper’s presence on the team with his morbid hardcore style he informs Terak of his intention to retire. He wants to step away from it all and return to the jungle for a care free life. In a heart to heart with Terak they come to an agreement after his friend and manager asks him “just give me one more year in 2102. There is still things we can achieve together”.
Commander Sam is put into quarantine for a whole month after Mutant takes a bite out of him. Left with a deep flesh wound on his forearm Sam went straight to a medical facility where the germs found to of passed into his bloodstream have infected him with a nasty contagious virus normally only found in animals. Sam will recover but needs to be kept in isolation for the safety of others.
Something light hearted to look forward to. Reynard B. Guile wants to teach the young upstart, Eagle, a lesson and will step into the ring for a match with him. Eagle has got a lot to lose if he doesn’t deliver victory but he is keen to get himself on the live shows so is prepared to take a risk. Even Johnny Rocket has taken notice and says he wouldn’t mind taking on the weakling Eagle too and plucking his feathers.
WHOSE HOT ... Pegasus, Mayhem, Monad, Raven, Alpha Force, the Zodiac, the Gamemasters, the Mercenaries, Generation X WHOSE NOT … Wolf, Colussus, Max Shield, Holocaust, Enigma, Mutant, Sam’s Squadron, Thunder and Overkill, Pillars of Power INJURED – Chaos 2, Demons of Hydra 4; SUSPENDED – Splatter 1
MEGATOURNAMENT STANDINGS: Colby-Pelf Corp 203, Omega’s Heroes 198, Morpheus’s Villians 139. (It was a great month for Omega. His team came on top in all their Battlezone matches and close right in on top spot. Very different emotions for his rival Morpheus who is losing the plot. At a team meeting he started insulting all and sundry. Nobody got away without being roasted. Even Chaos and Mandrill got it in the ear. He was furious at the performances in the Battlezone match ups. Things got very heated. There can be no more roster changes in 2101 but surely at the end of the year some heads will roll. Darkos is over selling the impact Enigma can have on the standings for Morpheus. Over the last month he made his first appearances and we didn’t see much that suggested the tide can be swung for the villain team. For all the hero success they are still languishing behind Colby and Pelf’s team. The Matador still going strong at the head of the singles table and despite a weak month Thunder and Overkill are so far ahead in the tag bracket. Even with well over a year left MVP glory surely beckons. Spare a thought for the likes of Enigma and Pillars of Power who are all still pointless)
INDIVIDUAL SCORING SINGLES: Matador 46, Pegasus 33, Raven 32, Chaos 24, Monad 22, Mandrill 21, Alpha Force 21, Bishop Hell 20, Vengeance 20, Janus 20, Mayhem 19, Colussus 17, Wolf 16, Splatter 10, Pulsar 9, Max Shield 6, Heracles 5, Holocaust 3, Johnny Rocket 1, Enigma 0 TAG TEAM: Thunder and Overkill 50, Gamemasters 24, New Order 22, Mercenaries 18, Sam’s Squadron 15, Superiority Complex 14, Generation X 14, Henchmen 8, Flamboyance 4, Pillars 0 WOMEN: Amazonia 12, Thrash 12, Cassandra 2 Wrestler of the Month: MAYHEM – Made incredible strides for the independent team with a series of victories in the Battlezone challenge to pull them back from the brink of defeat, Tag Team of the Month: THE MERCENARIES – These guys need gold back round their waists but it is clear they are moving ominously back among the elite. Surely only a matter of time.

FEATURED DARK MATCHES – BRYMSTONE & DRACO (Back to Brymstone. A haven for undesirables. The brave and perhaps foolish opponent for Blazing Skull is Wolf. It’s a challenge he cannot resist and he wants to be the first wrestler to hand Blazing Skull a pin fall loss. The other card took place inside the Dragon’s Lair in Draco. A galaxy renowned for it’s Cloneworld where Draconian Sheik is reportedly from)
#1 – Pegasus easily defeated Dynamo. Is this the blow off to the feud? If it is then it seems a shame that it was being done off camera. Pegasus needed less than a minute to see off his old rival with PROJECT PEGASUS; Pharaoh Khety beats Pulsar by DQ in a non-title match after getting ACID RAIN in the face. Pulsar taking exception to things Khety did in the match (also his close association to Bishop Hell) and keeps laying the boot in long after the bell has rung. Security guys have to pull him off. Qualitar grabs an interview which was published in GWI mag where Pulsar said of the continued attacking “I have to look after myself. The GWF is not going to protect me. We’ve all seen that. Well apart from me. Because the GWF never dealt with Bishop Hell I am now blind in one eye”; Prodigy pinned Star Warrior. Dead rubber as both guys are wanting to be focused on OTB instead of turning out for this match. Prodigy looks totally disinterested and is just plodding through it but in the end he still has too much for Star Warrior. Not the most elegant finish for someone with so much technical ability as it’s a bite to the forehead that grounds Star Warrior; New Order too much know how for the Watchmen. They barely give Mandrill’s underlings a sniff and beat Tocsin with THE HOLOCAUST. They’d tried the move on Painmaster earlier on but it wasn’t their most co-ordinated errors and be easily escaped the pin that followed; The Mercenaries maintaining their strong run by beating Genesis Prime. May of been defeat but Genesis Prime showing steady improvement. In the end Wraith is beaten by OPERATION: AMBUSH just before the ten minute mark; The Matador gives Eagle a wrestling lesson. Hopes for Eagle to come through this ok. He doesn’t want to burden Raven and be able to stand on his own two feet. So he accepts this challenge from the Matador without Raven knowing about it. There are fears for his safety as the Matador will be wanting revenge. Instead he just gets taught a masteclass and finished with BULLWHIP. Although he does stun the Matador by kicking out of the first attempt. The Matador doesn’t take things any further. A crushing win is revenge enough.
#2 – Blazing Skull defeated Wolf. I suddenly got really nervous rolling this as couldn’t imagine the thought of a fiery blast and Wolf’s GWF career going up in smoke. Luckily it’s not an issue as the roll was never tested. It’s a decent hardcore battle and Blazing Skull gets his biggest win yet. Home advantage obviously having the desired effect as he grabs BURNING TOUCH to close it out. Wolf not enjoying the loss but made even worse by the fact it was down to a claw hold. He believes his SAVAGE FACE CLAW is the most feared finisher around and refuses to accept anyone can apply a claw hold quite like he can; Titan Fury beat Generation X by DQ. Titan Fury a bit bummed that they are no longer top contenders and need to prove themselves again despite beating the Gladiators by DQ. Not ones to cause a fuss they get on with the job at hand and sign to face Generation X. They are walking a tightrope by coming to a hellhole like this where they know their morals will make them figures off hate. It’s so hostile here that even Johnny Rocket gives it a miss leaving his guys to cope without his guidance. The Titans put the crowd barracking to the back of their minds and dominate Generation X. Dragonmaster hits DRAGON DROP on Metalhead. Predictably Grunge breaks things up. His method this time is shoulder barging the referee to stop him making a count. The poor ref falls through the ropes to the delight of the locals. Mercifully he is not too hurt and is able to get up, dust himself down and of course call for the bell; Quasar beat Cycle Hog by DQ. Cycle Hog starts like a man possessed. As if he is on a promise of cream cakes. He even hits HEAVY LOAD twice. By the time Quasar wakes up he has already accumulated 5 tokens. But then Cycle Hog starts walking around like a overweight zombie. The opening salvo took it right of him. He lines up a lumbering shoulder tackle, completely misses and Quasar sets about polishing him off. Managing to hit HIGH ROLLER but Cannibal doesn’t give him the satisfaction of a pin victory as he steams in to attack Quasar. The popular Titan does go down but recovers to fight him off and accepts the outcome was better than expected given the lousy start he had; Enigma overcomes the Creeper with FEET OF FURY. Enigma smarting from his poor debut for the Villain team in the recent Battlezone matches is venting his frustration here; Genesis Prime wins a wild one over Pillars of Power by DQ. Vertigo bang on form subjecting Dynamo to MOTION SICKNESS several times but it doesn’t seal a pin. Wraith on the other hand not at the races. He is fortunate to emerge with a disqualification win over Dynamo having been on the end of CHOKE WITH GEAR and VOLCANIC DROP. His invisibility powers let him down as every time he tried he just turned a sandy colour and failed to disappear; Titan Death match, Splatter beat Death’s Head. GWF struggling to fill the card. Looking like only a 5 match show when Death’s Head shows up to volunteer for a match, “I like this place. I’ll fill your spot”. When officials try to explain they have no opponent he hisses “don’t worry I brought my own”. Splatter emerges from the shadows craving hardcore action and wants to wrestle. At short notice his suspension is lifted 1 card early to enable the match to go ahead. The Brymstonian’s go mad for it and the battle rages inside and out the ring. Death’s Head matches Splatter for violence but someone had to win and it is eventually Splatter via THE SHREDDER. Out of respect to a hardcore icon Death’s Head picks himself up and hands Splatter a skull from his collection. Splatter waits for Death’s Head to leave and then crushes it disrespectfully into dust.

Card 701 – ONLY THE BEST (Ladies) – Pollux Starfire Arena:
(Maxine Babe almost prevented from entering by Vanity. He doesn’t want her to upstage him and is bitter because he has never been in OTB. Her persistent nagging seems to pay off in the end as he relents. Maybe also the fact she gave him the green light to spend the night with another woman might also have something to do with it. Turns out Vanity has other plans and shows up in the final match but gets more than he bargained for)
Added Attractions, Lord Nexus and Thantos get the better of the Henchmen by count-out. Two hero legends teaming together for the first time ever. Shame it’s in the twilight of their careers. Imagine what a team they would of made in their prime. Thantos laughs when Qualitar interviews him and says the sight of him teaming and collaborating with the likes of Lord Nexus is still something he cannot get used to. The day he broke the code is still one of those ‘where were you when the code got destroyed’ moments in history. They don’t fail to disappoint and work together for a popular win. Lord Nexus so close to pinning Marcel de Sade with TITAN DROP. A nano second in it. Thantos gets the glory instead as nails Dreadnaught with Satanic Skull Smasher. Dreadnaught instinctively gets up but is so groggy he staggers forwards and falls through the ropes to be counted-out.
Titan Death match, Mayhem defeated Vengeance. Huge match up with a hardcore flavour. The Gladiators forced to wrestle each other to decide who goes into OTB. On Aethra the situation has garnered massive interest and received a lot of attention on the state controlled media. Topping headlines even above military conquering. Thakur, having been quiet on GWF matters since the end of the Civil War, has given approval to the bout. It is considered be a good test of Gladiators to engage in combat together. The disclaimer is that post match brawling and attempts to cause injury that can affect future performances will not be tolerated. With the ring entrances out of the way Mayhem and Vengeance walk up to one another to face up. Mayhem removes his chain from around his shoulders without averting his gaze. It’s the calm before the storm. A hush falls and although it’s only for about 30 seconds it feels like an age. It gets broken by a flicker in Vengeance’s eyes followed by a sly smile and then as soon as the bell rings they lock up. Suddenly silence turns to a cacophony of noise. They tear at each other’s throats and the action spins wildly out of the ring and spends it’s entire duration out there. Chairs, tables and just about any prop that could be found are used. It never occurs to either one to re-enter the ring and try make a pin attempt but this is not a falls count anywhere match so at some point it’s got to happen. The rules not to injure one another don’t seem to be being heeded. Although Mayhem holds back from grabbing his chain, which was wrapped round a ring post, when the opportunity arose. Vengeance isn’t quite so relenting. Reaching into his boot he pulls out a sharp bladed instrument and tries to nail Mayhem with it. Before he can swing it is kicked out of his hands and Mayhem flies forwards at him managing to force him back into the post. Vengeance strikes the back his head hard and crumples. After almost ten minutes of mindless bloody brawling suddenly an opening presents itself. Mayhem doesn’t give Vengeance any time to try and recover from the impact. Instantly hitting a spine smasher and finally rolling Vengeance back into the ring where he is able to pin him. Having been declared winner Mayhem walks over to Vengeance and waits for him to clear the cobwebs and stand. He doesn’t offer any help. Eventually Vengeance rises and the pair nod at each other before walking down the runway a metre apart saying nothing. A trail of blood, presumably Vengeance’s, left behind them.
Reynard B. Guile beats Eagle with GAMEKEEPER TRAP. Eagle working so hard to get noticed. Pouring sweat into it but he’s just so below the required standard for the GWF. When someone scrawny like B. Guile appears to have more strength it’s maybe a sign. The end when it comes is not conclusive. Reynard’s finisher is mainly just an imitation of a sleeper hold. He gets it on but there are two contentious moments. First that the ref should of forced a break of the hold as Eagle’s outstretched fingers appear to brush the ropes before he is then pushed back to the centre of the ring. Then when the ref drops the arm to test Eagle’s consciousness it doesn’t go all the way down on the third time but the bell gets called for anyway. Reynard over celebrating as we’d expect. He even cuts a laughable muscular pose and kisses his own biceps.
Heracles dominant against Star Warrior. Wins have been in short supply for Heracles but things have taken a dramatic turn recently. He avenged his GALACTICON loss to Colussus with an equally crushing victory last month and now looks to build on that and prove his worth to the rest of the Citadel by squashing the ageing legend Star Warrior. The bout posed few problems. Star Warrior looked good in the beginning, moving quickly in the ring and even connecting COSMIC BIG BANG but he’s not close to scoring the pin with Heracles powering him off. Never looks back after this as he now tosses Star Warrior around. Getting on a run of hitting OLYMPIA each accompanied by his trademark call. Just before the fourth one he slaps Star Warrior and calls a freak sympathiser. Then knocks him senseless and goes for the most humiliating pin finish possible which is a foot on the chest.
Ladies Tournament - First Round:
(Byes given to Thrash, Amazonia, Ms. Liberty)
Cassandra pinned Maxine Babe after WHIPS AND CHAINS. Maxine Babe being scatty by forgetting her wrestling leotard. Turns up in a dress. Angrily Cassandra rips off her dress forcing Maxine Babe down to her bra and panties. Croc tears from Maxine Babe in response but as soon as Cassandra turns her back to argue with the ref who was scolding her for the action she charges and knees her in the back and then grabs her hair. Match on now. Maxine Babe doing all kinds of sneaky things to try and pull off an upset such as squirting fake tan in Cassandra’s face. Her efforts failing to have the desired effect as Cassandra comes back at Maxine and brutalises her. She’d already used her finisher three times before the fourth and final attempts yielded success;
Second Round:
Amazonia defeated Thrash. The two hot favourites drawn together early. It’s an epic battle with the momentum constantly moving between them. Amazonia just starts to get the edge and makes of her superior agility to frustrate Thrash. Having found herself thrown from the ring she is able to get out the way Thrash following up with an attempted elbow drop off the apron. The nimble move gives her a chance to put the wilting Thrash back in the ring and strike successfully with AMAZON ATTACK. Full steam ahead for the final.
Ms. Liberty pinned Cassandra. Ms. Liberty being labelled as a dark horse to win especially as the two favourites got drawn together already and Amazonia has already had a lot taken out of her. Cassandra is desperate to crush her hopes and gatecrash the final. Tries to bait Ms. Liberty by her getting into brawl with Thrash before she comes out by setting up a fake Spacebook account in her name and insulting Thrash and the Gladiators. Would of been a good idea but things like social media are beneath the Gladiators and it is mostly banned back on Aethra so Thrash never even sees the postings. She would of been preparing herself to face the music for losing to Amazonia anyway. All the side stuff aside there was a match to be had and the two women served up a cracker. Cassandra was very dominant to begin and under normal match circumstances would of won by count-out when she floored Ms. Liberty outside. She made the mistake of returning to the ring and waiting when what she should of done was drag her back in. By the time she realised the rules it was too late and Ms. Liberty had recovered a bit. The longer the match went the more Ms. Liberty came into it. She had to be alert to kick out after WHIPS AND CHAINS but then sealed victory in her best period of the match. Coming at Cassandra with a cross body she kept hold of the legs and leaned into the pinning position. Cassandra burst out of it but it was just too late and she was beaten and eliminated. Full on tantrum in front of the watching galaxy followed.
Final:
Ms. Liberty comes through to beat Amazonia and win the ladies tournament. Vanity interrupts the final. He climbs into the ring and flexes a pose to demonstrate his manliness and then snatched the mic from the ring announcer, “I am going to make this final mean much more than the simply winning that cheap OTB trophy. I am giving winner the opportunity to go on a date with me. The chance to spend time with the most desirable man in the universe. And if they play their cards right a chance to experience my masculinity to finish the night. Sweet Thing knows all about that!” He then jumps out the ring, grabs a ringside seat to watch the match and puts on sash with the words ‘prize’ emblazoned it. The women try to ignore him and get on with things. It’s not a long match as they both feel the effects of their tough earlier matches. Amazonia begins with some impressive offensive moves but Ms. Liberty counters a turnbuckle whip and stuns her with a kick to the mid section. As Amazonia catches her breath she goes straight in with a Liberty Leap. The quickness of the attack catches Amazonia out and she is able to pin her. It’s a big upset but there were enough of us who had a feeling she might pull it off. How would she react to Vanity, her old flame, making designs on her now as the ‘unlucky winner’. Vanity instantly picks up the OTB trophy and presents it to the winner. Ms. Liberty initially plays along but then snatches it from his grasp and uses it to knock him out to the delight of the crowd. She then shares her moment with her opponent, Amazonia, and they both raise arms to salute the crowd. Vanity, in lots of pain, crawls away from the scene and is later mocked for cheapening the occasion. It is suggested he only pulled this stunt as it was the only way he could get his face on the OTB shows and he got what he deserved. No such criticism for the finalists. The luxurious moment for Ms. Liberty is given lots of media attention. She is showered with praise for the way she wrestled, dealt with Vanity and then shared her spotlight. Her husband, US. Patriot, posts on Spacebook about how proud he is of her and jokes with such success she might be about to become the main bread winner! The ladies tournament had been a great success and if it was a pilot show then surely there is no way the GWF will not schedule it again. The only negative is that there are still only 5 registered female wrestlers and maybe the roster needs to grow more.
OTB NEWS ... In a midweek build up show the full competitor list is announced. The host rattles the names off and the big reveal is that there is no Pegasus and that Chaos is in. Drawn to face Vyper in the opening round. His opponent, Vyper, thinks he has got him sussed, “Chaos is a one trick pony. All he’s got is that BOW OF DEFEAT. Stay away from that and he has got nothing to offer other than a little bit of power. And I bet he is afraid of snakes”. The MEGATOURNAMENT teams each get to put 2 into the Singles and Tag brackets and 1 into the Hardcore competition. Initially they were allocated 1 tag team spot but as most of the top ranked teams are on the rosters this was increased earlier this week. A big surprise is Morpheus using the loophole to lever another Citadel guy into the Singles tournament. Due to Heracles demotion from the Villain roster he is available to compete and with a recent improved record is ranked just high enough qualify. There was shocking talk for a while that Blazing Skull would be allowed in on the back of his incredible winning streak on Brymstone as a one off. Commissioner Grogan shoots down that possibility very quickly. The Commissioner raises the stakes by announcing 5 bonus points to be awarded to the respective bracket winners if they are part of any MEGATOURNAMENT rosters. The full line up is as follows ... SINGLES - Chaos, Mandrill, Raven, Alpha Force, Matador, Mayhem, Vyper, Heracles ... TAG TEAM - Superiority Complex, Generation X, the Gamemasters, New Order, the Mercenaries, Thunder and Overkill, Titan Fury, the Watchmen ... HARDCORE ... Monad, Wolf, Splatter, Draconian Sheik, Mad Jester, Wildcat, Mutant, Kati

Card 702 – ONLY THE BEST (Hardcore) – Pollux Starfire Arena:
Added attraction, Interplanetary belt match, Pulsar against Draconian Sheik is called off. It’s a Lumberjack match and descends into uncontrolled chaos. Pulsar needed to do all he can to keep himself from being thrown out because that’s where the sharks were swimming. Cannibal’s team looked ravenous and appeared to all be hiding different weapons. The loyalty of Pulsar’s lumberjacks is questionable. He still has a strong fan base as those that are supporting him keep their fingers crossed that he doesn’t end up outside very often. Despite the questioning Pulsar’s own lumberjacks surprisingly step up for him. Perhaps because guys like Splatter and Mayhem cannot resist a brawl. The match was pretty exciting and Pulsar thought he had it won after ACID RAIN but Cannibal ruined things by attacking him with a bone. Things kept bubbling and when Drac rolled out and ended up on the wrong side Splatter was the catalyst for an uncontrollable brawl between 10 men. Smashing Drac with Arsenal prompting members of Murderers Row to take out their weapons and steam into things. By the time things calmed down the entire outside of the ring looked like a bomb had hit it. Broken chairs, tables snapped, even the announcer’s bell was dinging uncontrollably. A rematch between Pulsar and Drac will take place next month. Whether it will be another Lumberjack match is unknown at this time.
First Round:
Kati defeated Mutant with SAMOAN REVENGE. Things underway with a dominating performance from Kati. He may lack experience at this level but there is no hint of stage fright.
Mad Jester easily beats Monad. Jester knows his limitations and doesn’t try to punch it out with Monad. He cleverly draws Monad in near the ropes. When Monad starts punching wildly with it’s arms he quickly grabs the bars behind him and uses them to get up on the top rope and walk across to then jump out the way. Monad gets himself tangled in the ropes and Jester hits A DEAD MAN’S VERSE and then escapes the cage.
Wolf takes the roof off by eliminating Splatter as he starts his bid to regain the Hardcore crown. Splatter is on a mission to maim. He refuses to put Arsenal in the corner on entering the cage. Something must of gone through Wolf’s mind as he sees Splatter taking practice swings with his weapon and is hesitant to climb in himself. Very unusual for Wolf as he normally flies into the action. Then he has a lightbulb moment. Forcing the ring announcer off his chair so he can throw it 15 feet high over and into the cage. Now he had his own weapon and without hesitation climbs in to meet Splatter. Those two weapons became very prevalent during the bout and even changed hands several times. The chair ends up bent out of shape whilst Arsenal shows it’s strength as a weapon by staying completely intact despite being smashed into the cage side several times during several unsuccessful swings. The finishing sequence is a real crowd pleaser. Splatter has Wolf lined against the bars and tries to strike. Wolf moves and Arsenal impacts the steel side again. The impact wave goes back through Splatter’s body and he drops Arsenal. Wolf quickly picks it up and brings it down over Splatter’s head. As Splatter wobbles and then spins back round Wolf then jumps on him with SAVAGE FACE CLAW forcefully. He keeps the hold in place for about 30 seconds before releasing. Splatter just drops to the canvas and Wolf gives a loud howl before making an easy escape.
Death’s Head leaves Wildcat a bloody beaten mess. The incredible success of Vyper means that he qualified for the main singles brackets opening up this opportunity for Wildcat even though being inside a cage isn’t really his sort of match. Move quick and look for a way out at all opportunities is his mantra. Unfortunately he can’t keep his distance forever. Once Death’s Head does eventually nail him it is brutal unrelenting offense. Wildcat is busted open against the bars and then struck with FUNERAL MARCH several times. He is barely conscious by the fourth and Death’s Head canters into a second round meeting with Wolf.
Second Round:
Mad Jester escapes against Kati in a 4 star match. Kati has 5 tokens at the climax but refuses to throw the towel in. He is hit with Jagged Edge Standing Kick several times and also A DEAD MAN’S VERSE but every time Jester looks like he is going to finally escape Kati summons the energy to pull him back in. It’s not all one way traffic though as Kati also coming close twice with SAMOAN REVENGE. Mad Jester changes approach and it eventually yields victory. Launching a Mad Dash Clothesline sends Kati backwards into the cage sides and the collision is damaging enough to end the brave resistance.
Death’s Head upsets Wolf. After the blood split against Splatter it was clear Wolf wasn’t firing on all cylinders whereas Death’s Head had been given a simpler path. As a result Wolf struggles from the opening bell. He nearly loses early after a cage smash but catches hold of Death’s Head at the last minute. Trying to get things finished as fast as possible before Wolf gets an adrenaline surge Death’s Head moves in for the kill. Within a couple more minutes he cracks Wolf with FUNERAL MARCH. The impact leaving Wolf visualising two of Death’s Head. He sees Death’s Head leaving the cage but his double vision prevents a miraculous save as Wolf goes for the wrong one and dives right past. When he realises he has missed Death’s Head has already exited. Wolf still tries to climb out and go after him but Death’s Head wears an evil grin as he slams the cage door right back in Wolf’s face. Crowd left shocked by Wolf’s unexpected elimination.
Final:
Mad Jester beats Death’s Head to win the Hardcore tournament. The toll on both of them now showing as they start to seize up. A slow pace initially but then out of the blue Mad Jester ramps it up. A cage smash leaves Death’s Head in front of the ropes. Mad Jester makes some adjustments and gets Death’s Head immobilised within the ropes. Then nailing A DEAD MAN’S VERSE to give him a great chance of victory. It’s a weary climb out the cage but Jester wanted to do it in style rather than choose the easy way out and walk out the door. Jester may be unpredictable and not everyone’s cup of tea but he still fights on the side of the heroes so he mostly gets a good reception.

Card 703 – ONLY THE BEST (Tag) – Pollux Starfire Arena:
Added attraction, Heavyweight champ, Raven, beat Mayhem by DQ. Raven in the groove from the opening bell. Moving so fast to pepper Mayhem with moves and barely taking any damage himself. The frustrated rage within Mayhem keeps building and is probably the reason he blows it later on. For when he does finally get his hands on Raven there is an aggression that is bordering on unacceptable. The ref trying to keep things going and warning Mayhem repeatedly. Mayhem heeds it for a while but can feel that he is being dominated again and needs to bring his hardcore game back into the equation. Rolls outside to get away from Raven and then pulls him out too so he can slam into a table. It’s a brutal move and Mayhem banking on the ref giving him one last chance. He was wrong, the referee is fed up with being taken for a fool and signals for the disqualification.
First Round:
Superiority Complex defeat rivals the Gamemasters. Mediocrity from the Gamemasters as they offer up a whole lot of nothing. Skinhead pinned Thantos after BAD ATTITUDE. Some fans were getting on Superiority Complex’s backs as being bottlers for their loss of form during this critical time for the Villain team but they have risen to the challenge tonight. Could it be that they only come alive when there are belts or trophies up for grabs?
Thunder and Overkill defeated the Watchmen. A real baptism of fire for the Watchmen to meet the Gladiators in their first OTB. They try to absorb attacks in order to wear them down but it is living very dangerously. Little vendettas can build between particular wrestlers in a tag match and here we see Overkill gunning for Painmaster as he finds him a difficult opponent. To be fair to the Watchmen they weren’t given much hope but they do pretty well for themselves. Having come through some heavy fire in the opening minutes they start to put some things together. Both TORTURE RACK and HAZARDOUS WASTE are tried on Thunder. The Gladiators themselves use TURNBUCKLE TRAP and THUNDERCLAP on Painmaster who evades pin fall due to a combination of kick out and his partner storming in to trigger a brawl. The Gladiators step up the brutality after this middle phase. The Watchmen having the audacity to fight back has angered them. Thunder paralyses Tocsin with a reverse spine smashed and then tags in Overkill. Just before they go for the big finish Overkill kicks Painmaster in the gut and they then put Tocsin away with DECAPITATOR.
The Mercenaries defeated Titan Fury. Memories must linger of failed past OTB efforts for the Mercenaries. The time has come to prove they are one of the great tag teams. Of course Titan Fury have the potential to be another great team. Much like the legendary Titan Power before them they have under achieved. If they want to have a chance they need to take a gamble and really go for it. That is exactly what happens as Rising Sun sets out their stall with a spinning back kick to floor Soldier of Fortune in the opening move. The intensity never relents after this. The momentum pitches back and forth. Mass cheering picks up as the Titans really get it together and manage to use their feared DAY OF THE DRAGON move on Soldier of Fortune. Dragonmaster goes for the pin and Rising Sun tries to cover any move from Vigilante to break it up. Vigilante isn’t about to let that stop him. Grabs his rifle and uses it to smash Rising Sun down and then Dragonmaster. A brawl then breaks out which the Mercenaries win. The crowd is horrified at the apparent turnaround and even more so when Dragonmaster is hit with OPERATION: AMBUSH. Remarkably he gets a shoulder up but Soldier of Fortune’s response to that is to immediately use THE REVENGER. This time Dragonmaster doesn’t move and the Mercenaries win.
Generation deal New Order a crushing loss. Generation X are heavily assessed in the build up show. So much talent but doing jack all to progress their careers. It’s obvious for all to see but their lifestyle choice is holding them back. They need to be apart from each other. Both bad seeds. If they can’t get themselves up for this match against long time enemies New Order then what’s the point in them being in the GWF. They don’t seem to care about all the criticism. Just take the matches as they come. Grunge is interviewed and says “what more do people want? We’ve held the tag belts before. We are just enjoying partying and enjoying ourselves before the death of the universe. But if it pleases everyone we will stay off the drink until after OTB is over”. Whether they did or not nobody knows but they manage to pull off a victory. Grunge gets Dreggs with KILLER AIR GUITAR to set up a second round clash with the Mercenaries. Metalhead mocks his brother in the aftermath and promises to drive him crazy by going onto win the tournament. Something New Order hasn’t done since 2095. Unfortunately New Order also lag behind their rivals for tag gold having only held the belts once and that was way back in 2097.
Second Round:
Thunder and Overkill taking no prisoners as they walkover Superiority Complex to qualify for the final. The transition of the Gladiators has been devastating and bad news for the other tag teams. They have dominated the tag belts all year long and now look heavy favourites to win OTB after crushing the legendary Superiority Complex here. Skinhead tries to go toe to toe with Overkill but ends up very much second best. Overkill swats away the attacks and casually hands off to Thunder who comes in with a reverse spine smasher and pins him. On their way out Overkill stops to look at Prodigy’s mistake motorbike that he had ridden down the runway and was now propped against the side of the ring. First he grabs the sunglasses perched over the handle bar and crushes them, then he puts a powerful foot right through the engine to signify how the Gladiators has run over Superiority Complex tonight.
The Mercenaries also looking devastating as they annihilate Generation X. They lay siege to Grunge who starts the match for Generation X and can’t get out. The Mercenaries take it in turns to pound on him and every time Metalhead attempts to jump in one of them is there to force him back. Vigilante manages to bring the match to a conclusion with POLICE BRUTALITY on Grunge. Generation X well beaten but by the looks of them just relieved to of for out of the ring still intact. Mouth watering final now awaits. The Gladiators and the Mercenaries have been kept apart because they are fighting on the same independent team but now they get to up against each other.
Final:
The Mercenaries beat Thunder and Overkill to win their first OTB at the seventh attempt. This couldn’t of planned out better. The two hottest teams meeting in then final. Air of invincibility surrounds the Gladiators with the feeling that, at the moment, the Mercenaries are the only team capable of standing up to them. The galaxy watched with baited breath as I played out (and I crossed my fingers that the dice would give me the classic I wanted to end the tournament on). Unfortunately it wasn’t a classic. In the early minutes it was all Mercenaries but there was nothing much to write about. The Gladiators come back into it but regular tagging keeps the Mercenaries out of trouble. Then pretty much out of nowhere Vigilante catches Overkill with a big move off the roles, I imagined it to be a vicious knee into the stomach. Whilst this is going on Soldier of Fortune rushes round the side of the ring to shoulder charge Thunder off the apron. With Overkill doubled up the Mercenaries quickly perform OPERATION: AMBUSH and Overkill gets pinned. No retaliation from the Gladiators but they will be quietly brooding on this. Revenge will come for sure.

Card 704 – ONLY THE BEST (Singles) – Pollux Starfire Arena:
(This is the one we have been waiting for! The other OTB categories are exciting but this is where the cream of the crop are. Lots of pre tournament entertainment including an appearance by the old Commissioner, Zachary Carter. He is the esteemed guest and meets with the new Commissioner Grogan. It’s great to see he is still popular and looking so well. He congratulates Grogan on the excellent job he is doing in his old role and is pleased to see business is booming under his stewardship but now let’s get this show on the road!)
Added attraction, Tag champs, Thunder and Overkill, see off the challenge of the Zodiac. Big matches come thick and fast for the Gladiators. Just one week after their massive OTB final disappointment they are now defending the tag belts looking to take their reign past 32 cards. It’s not long before the Overlord gets the attention of Thrash for his constant interfering. As she comes after him starts pleading to leave him alone claiming he is old and frail. When she turns her back he then tries to hit her with his staff but with a swift wrist movement grabs and it rips it out of his hands. Thrash quickly winds his arm up bringing him to one knee and begging to be released. When the hold is finally let go he clutches his shoulder and goes very quiet for the rest of the match. Meanwhile in the ring the Zodiac is blissfully unaware that their manager’s assistance is no longer something they can call upon. They are exposed to typical Aethran bombardment. Power and agility based attacks in equal measure. Mesmer manages to anger the Gladiators by kicking out after being struck with DECAPITATOR. If nothing else, Mesmer can take that achievement away with him. Actually the Zodiac do alright in the match. They offer a few decent moves and last long enough to make the fans think they got their money’s worth. Alas the inevitable end does come. Gemini has a good battle with Thunder but ultimately gets outmuscled. He is then fed to Overkill who goes for TURNBUCKLE TRAP and then almost immediately sets another DECAPITATOR in motion. The brutal finisher is executed and Thunder completes the formality of the pin to keep the Gladiator title reign going. It’s not that far from a year with the belts now. Will the Mercenaries come after the straps, or will they continue to be held back? First Round:
Vyper shocks Chaos with a fast victory. Chaos is now fully recovered and the old arrogance is back as recent results are strong. He considers it a right of passage to be in this tournament even though he hasn’t actually won it in a few years. In his promo Vyper kind of gives Chaos some respect by confessing that, when he was a Masked Assassin fighting on the side of the villains, he was a big fan of Chaos but his outlook is very different now. He is searching for a weakness to close the gap and hopefully spring an upset. Vyper brings a bag full of snakes with him and puts them in a corner but Chaos is not bothered by them. In fact Vyper has to quickly move them as Chaos makes an attempt to empty the bag and stamp on them. There is a worry with Chaos in this mood Vyper could be in big trouble but then something amazing happens. Chaos tries to assert himself immediately and within the first minute hurls Vyper forcefully into the turnbuckle. He charges at him at high speed, for a big man, but runs into a Vyper’s raised knees. The impact knocks Chaos absolutely senseless and Vyper acts on this immediately. VYPER’S SIDESHOW is subsequently used and Chaos falls to one of the biggest upsets ever. Not so much that he lost but the manner and quickness of the defeat is what resonates.
The Matador progresses past Raven. They meet again and it’s the Matador who comes out tops this time around. Ten minutes of pure wrestling heaven as it is another demonstration of high calibre grappling. Raven is off to a flier and has the Matador scrambling after BLADERUNNER. Matador recovers from this near miss to dictate the tempo for the next few minutes but it’s mostly in the balance. Majority of the fans are of course behind Raven but the Matador is getting support too such is the respect he has built up for his abilities. He just about gets the better of things with a fast combo of a body slam, running torpedo and his second BULLWHIP of the bout. Raven wriggles to break free of the pin hold but like every good technician Matador hooks the leg and puts all his body weight behind it to keep those shoulders down on the mat.
Mandrill eliminates Mayhem. After finally breaking Wolf’s run in the hardcore bracket last year Mayhem is not defending his trophy. Instead making a rare foray into the singles tournament. On the other side Mandrill is convinced this event is the one that will demonstrate his status as the top villain in the GWF. Mandrill almost jinxes it by predicting a walkover and announcing he has already made plans for a celebration party as within a couple of minutes Mayhem is mounting the turnbuckle for LEAP OF DOOM. Mandrill just about gets out of it’s path. He then really comes back at Mayhem, MUTANT MAULER and VOLTAIC STUNNER (both twice) testament to that. Unbelievably Mayhem keeps ticking and even builds enough offence to be in a position to try his finisher again but it’s groundhog day as he misses in the same manner. Edge of the seat stuff but the second missed impact has really wounded Mayhem. He is powerless against Mandrill now and MUTANT MAULER a third and a fourth time finally brings the curtain down on a brutal match.
Heracles goes past Alpha Force. No time for complacency. Heracles leaves the sofa and the maidens behind to make a name for himself tonight as a villain and member of the Citadel. He threatens with OLYMPIA in the first minute of the match. It is just the beginning of a domination that shocks everyone. Alpha Force flickers into life briefly with TOMAHAWK THRUST and ALPHA STRIKE catching Heracles attention but the turncoat looks strong tonight and comfortably kicks out of both pin attempts. Heracles is soon back on top and dishes out OLYMPIA so many times I lost track (maybe 5). Alpha Force is heroic to as survive many of these but in truth was very much second best in this contest and eventually beaten.
Second Round:
Vyper stuns the Matador to march into the final. It has been a dream run for Vyper as he goes one step further to the final. Kept the snakes in the locker room so that he can be deadly serious and gimmick free for the biggest match of his life. The Matador is equally focused dodging questions from interviewers as he prepares himself. Usually when you get a couple of early pin attempts it loosens a match up but it got very tactical after that and both guys shut up shop. Vyper starts to get tired of the cat and mouse game and ramps up the intensity. The Matador looks in difficulty as he gets knocked from pillar to post. He tries to dig in and get his own offence going but Vyper is not letting anyting slow him down. The crowd stands as Vyper hits VYPER’S SIDESHOW and seals the biggest win of his career. Whatever happens now Vyper can be proud of what he has achieved tonight.
Mandrill defeated Heracles. Interesting draw as two villains on the same roster meet. Rumour is Mandrill thinks as the higher ranked team member that Heracles should lay down for him to progress. Heracles refuses and it is the start of some heat between Mandrill and Morpheus leading to a resignation from the assistant manager role. When the match begins the bad feelings come bubbling to the surface and it is brutal with lots of brawling. Heracles gets hit with MUTANT MAULER and also electrified twice by VOLTAIC STUNNER but is showing a determination that has been missing for a long time. He refuses to give in and tries to rally. Mandrill is worried his big chance is slipping away so takes things outside and nails Heracles with a Prime Piledriver on the concrete to remind him who is boss. Then bundles Heracles back in the ring and pins him. Mandrill on the cusp of a remarkable achievement of winning both OTB and EXTREME ELIMINATION EVENT in the same year.
Final:
Mandrill overcomes Vyper with VOLTAIC STUNNER to win the tournament. A match to stay etched in the memory. As the underdog Vyper just goes for it and hits Mandrill with frenzied attacks. He wants to show wins over Chaos and the Matador were no fluke and has Mandrill scrambling continuously. The noise is unbearable among the crowd as they smell yet another upset but suddenly Mandrill shows some impressive ring work under pressure. Vyper flies at him but he turns and manages to latch on with headlock and take him into the ground. He works away at it for a minute or so and then comes up with Colonizer Claw Grip. It’s an energy sapping hold and Mandrill applies it over and over again. With Vyper’s legs now buckling and droplets of blood showing up on his cranium all it takes is one blast from Mandrill’s illegal finisher to end a dramatic final. Mandrill arrogantly accepts his trophy and holds court in the ring before shouting that his next target is the Heavyweight title. Vyper may of lost but the run to the final was more than he can ever of imagined and he tells Qualitar that he will still be celebrating deep into the night with his Savage Kingdom buddies.

GWF REPORT (MEGATOURNAMENT 2101 CARDS 701 - 704)
Champions
* GWF Galaxian Champ: Raven (Top Contender: Heracles) * GWF Tag Champs: Thunder and Overkill (Top Contenders: The Mercenaries) * GWF Interplanetary Champ: Pulsar (Top Contender: Draconian Sheik)
Latest News:
The big OTB performers were Mandrill, the Mercernaries and Mad Jester as they win their respective categories. Mandrill reaches giddy heights. He is now on a quest to add the Heavyweight belt to this win. Was also a fairytale night for Vyper. For the Citadel team it was like watching a horror film. Chaos bombed to an embarrassing opening round loss and Superiority Complex never looked like defending their trophy. There were other festering issues, like why did Omega leave Pegasus out when he has recently been the top hero performer and why did Draconian Sheik miss the hardcore tournament in preference to going after the IP belt. Something Drac doesn’t understand or care about (remembering that he once held the strap and is often labelled the worst champion in GWF history). One guy, Vyper, was so drained by his incredible efforts at the tournament that he has gone on self imposed exile over the next month to recover both mentally and physically. He will be taking himself to a barren planet with only his beloved snakes for company to train and meditate. The idea being to return refreshed and better than ever. Pulsar was feeling aggrieved that he didn’t make the cut for the independent team. As the reigning IP champ he would of felt he should of had a right to be in the singles bracket. He is quietly brooding over it as he knows speaking out could have consequences. An offbeat feud that is snowballing is between Raven and the Matador. Although they have more natural enemies there is an ultra competitive streak that consumes them whenever they meet. Brimming with talent things are very even between them as has been shown in the several times they’ve already faced off this year. The fact that the ultimate prize, the Heavyweight belt, has been on the line in a couple of the bouts has only intensified the rivalry. Bookers are hoping the rivalry maintains itself and they don’t move into their expected feuds as these are the sort of main events everyone wants headlining their shows.
Janus drops down the rankings as he gets picky about opponents. He was supposed to wrestle Star Warrior and Quasar this month but withdrew days beforehand in both cases deeming them not high profile enough. The GWF disciplinary board take a dim view. They missed the boat in issuing a suspension by taking too long to reach a decision so instead passed it over to the championship committee and they have penalised him 10 ranking positions. Pulsar (who is still angry at being left out of OTB) broods quietly for a while but then reacts to criticism from Magnus Colby and Sonora Pelf that some wrestlers are not justifying their huge salaries. Having seen their lead cut in the team standings in the last couple of months they have been unhappy and a lack of success in the singles and hardcore brackets at OTB also left them angered. Pulsar boldly says “They have the IP belt and tag belt in the team but are still not happy. It’s alright for them sitting up there in Pelf Palace with all their billions. They are not down here on the ground. When your in the trenches it’s tough”. Pelf Palace is in the news for others things too. Magnus Colby has clinched a deal to host next years OTB if the venue is ready. Ram cannot fathom the attitude Colby and Pelf have towards him. When he approached them offering to be the Colby-Pelf Corporation rep in the OTB Hardcore tournament he was laughed out the door. He is also stung by figures being leaked/published showing him to be the lowest paid wrestler on their payroll. As a past holder of both tag team and Interplanetary titles he feels he deserves more respect. Trouble is Ram has nowhere else to go other than strike out on his own. Even that might be problematic as he would be under contract to Colby and Pelf and they could actually prevent him from wrestling at all during that period. Unbelievably Ram now finds himself pining for pastures of old but he has burned all bridges with the Brotherhood now. Heat between Mandrill and Morpheus. Seeing the dire situation Morpheus’s team finds itself in he abandons his post as team assistant (he cannot find a loophole that protects him from banishment it he is co-manager). He will continue to serve on the villain roster as Grogan refuses to accept another line up change. There are murmurings that Mandrill has done his job. Got the team into a lowly position to leave Morpheus looking like cooked goose and then getting himself out of the firing line. The positive out of all this for Morpheus is it solves the Chaos-Mandrill problem. Chaos cannot bear to share the same air space as Mandrill let alone take orders from him. Splatter released from isolation again. He showed at OTB how cooped up he had been in the way he went about business. Wolf has the scars to prove it. Krakan says Splatter always goes stir crazy when he is suspended, “Splatter suffers from cabin fever!” Commissioner Grogan has been taking a tough stance on Splatter and the lottery and vows to keep on suspending him harshly as long as it continues.
More desperate measures from Morpheus as he tries to wedge dissension into the hero team. Shares a pic of him meeting Pegasus to discuss terms on him joining the villain team in 2102 (in response to Pegasus being overlooked by Omega for OTB). The pic is immediately slammed as a fake. Pegasus not even looking like he is in a natural pose. It doesn’t stop it from trending online and it soon goes viral with many jokers replacing the pic of Pegasus with different people (even Pollux) and sharing it to poke fun at the apparent desperation of Morpheus. The vultures are circling on Morpheus and he needs to try and get a grip. He has got the talent at his disposal but needs to get them working for him. Getting Mandrill out of his ear might now give him a chance to rally if can put his mind to it.
Long after the match happened people are still talking about Mayhem and Vengeance. The Gladiators fought a war in the ring. Match of the year contender. To show that there is no friction among the new breed they will next work together. Behind the scenes order from Thakur. Teaming up on #708 to face old enemies New Order.
WHOSE HOT … Vyper, Mandrill, Heracles, Mad Jester, Death’s Head, Blazing Skull, Thunder and Overkill, the Mercenaries, Ms. Liberty WHOSE NOT … Chaos, Vengeance, Splatter, Monad, Star Warrior, Wolf, Eagle, New Order, the Watchmen, Maxine Babe INJURED – none; SUSPENDED – none
MEGATOURNAMENT STANDINGS: Colby-Pelf Corp 226, Omega’s Heroes 213, Morpheus’s Villians 159. (The heroes are continuing their rapid improvement. A few guys struggling for points but everyone is doing their duty. Omega and Commander Sam cannot have any complaints about the efforts and camaraderie. Fast moving crisis among the Villain team. The burning issue is whether Mandrill can continue in the team after resigning his second in command post. Given half a chance Chaos would love to crush his ribs with BOW OF DEFEAT. The Independent team still performimg well. They have a bottleneck of guys aiming for the Heavyweight belt but I suppose that’s a good thing and shows the level they are operating at. The Matador, Mayhem and Venegance for example won’t even consider lowering their aims on the secondary IP belt should Pulsar end up losing it. They’ve got the tag division well covered with the Gladiators and the Mercenaries tearing up the opposition)
INDIVIDUAL SCORING SINGLES: Matador 51, Raven 37, Pegasus 33, Mandrill 31, Chaos 24, Monad 22, Alpha Force 21, Wolf 21, Bishop Hell 20, Vengeance 20, Janus 20, Mayhem 19, Colussus 17, Splatter 10, Pulsar 9, Max Shield 6, Heracles 5, Holocaust 3, Johnny Rocket 1, Enigma 0 TAG TEAM: Thunder and Overkill 58, Mercenaries 28, Gamemasters 24, New Order 22, Superiority Complex 19, Generation X 19, Sam’s Squadron 15, Henchmen 8, Flamboyance 4, Pillars 0 WOMEN: Amazonia 17, Thrash 12, Cassandra 2 Wrestler of the Month: HERACLES – There were many other candidates. The likes of Mandrill and Vyper presenting very strong cases after their OTB performances but Heracles has suddenly got serious and turned his disastrous heel run around. He is now #1 contender to the Heavyweight belt which was unthinkable not long ago. Tag Team of the Month: THE MERCENARIES - Have a stranglehold on the monthly award at the moment. Totally deserved after OTB success in which they outshone the Gladiators. Next step must be the tag belts but there is a massive roadblock in the form of Colby and Pelf that is preventing them from challenging.

Card 705 – Juno Civic Auditorium:
Ram upsets Raven in a non-title match. He uses RAM’S CHARGE to gore Raven. Sadly Raven just never getsgoing. Massive surprise to see Ram winning here but it’s his way of responding to Colby and Pelf belittling him. Reynard B. Guile makes a huge amount of noise in the aftermath and says with this win Ram should imm ediately replace Heracles as the new top contender to the Heavyweight belt. Reality is one big win amid some real mediocrity from Ram won’t suddenly put him in title contention but it will send him shooting up the rankings and make people take notice.
The Watchmen defeat Titan Fury in a contenders match. With the Mercenaries possibly unable to make their challenge to the Gladiators this could decide who gets the next shot. The Watchmen set their stall out early with Painmaster putting THE TORTURE RACK on Rising Sun. They keep up the brutality with Double Team Mallet against Dragonmaster and Tocsin is soon finishing him off with HAZARDOUS WASTE. Titan Fury’s inconsistency is back to plague them and the trail towards the tag belts has now gone cold for them.
The Enforcers beat Demons of Hydra by DQ. The Demons with a point to prove after returning from injury lay offs. Tensions are high after what happened last time in the ring and it is Darkos at ringside who loses it first by attacking Stalker without provocation. Feud is bubbling nicely.
Amazonia overcomes Cassandra via AMAZON ATTACK. Women’s wrestling getting a good run in the GWF spotlight with two matches of the show dedicated to it. Not too many problems for Amazonia to emerge victorious in this one.
Ms. Liberty beats Thrash after THE LIBERATOR. OTB failure was a bitter pill for Thrash to swallow. She vows to bring Ms. Liberty crashing back down to earth after her surprise success at the event but ends up embarrassed. Ms. Liberty kicks her butt inside the ring.
Mad Jester chalks another win, this time over Cycle Hog by DQ. Great engertainment. Mad Jester performs A DEAD MAN’S VERSE but Cycle Hog gets partially freed resulting in a glancing blow and manages to somehow get his lardy frame out of the resulting pin attempt. Amazingly Cycle Hog comes back at Jester and squashes him under HEAVY LOAD. Doesn’t hit the mark very often but normally anyone under it doesn’t get up again let alone kick out but Jester does that. Just as things are getting very interesting Hog belly blasts Jester and sends him tumbling outside. Falls right at the feet of Cannibal who decides to attack him with THROAT SLIT and it draws the disqualification. Cannibal releases the hold as a couple of security guys advance. Jester is left in a heap and doesn’t look like much of a winner. Cycle Hog spits on Jester as he leaves the match frustrated by the decision.

Card 706 – Juno Civic Auditorium:
(Midcard feuds getting their time in the GWF spotlight over the last couple of shows. Things have been getting really out of control between Murderer’s Row and King’s Court and tonight is no exception as Jester tries to payback Cycle Hog)
The Mercenaries grind out victory over the Pillars of Power. They looked pretty cheesed off having become the victims of team politics relating to their pursuit of the tag team championship. Krakan has been trying to play down the importance of the tag belts but the reality is they mean everything to the Hitmen. Behind the scenes Krakan asked Colby and Pelf if his team can challenge the Gladiators despite both teams being on the same independent roster. Citing a recent match between Vengeance and Mayhem. Colby and Pelf explained that they would prefer the Mercenaries keep their title challenge in reserve for when the Gladiators drop the belts (which doesn’t look anytime soon, 34 cards and counting). The Mercenaries try to blow off their anger here against the hapless Pillars of Power. Although they win in the end it is no cakewalk. They try OPERATION: AMBUSH on Powerhouse and are horrified to find the big man is able to withstand it by kicking out. He even comes back at Soldier of Fortune and CHOKE WITH GEAR causes enough concern for Krakan that he tries, unsuccessfully, to interfere. Luckily for Krakan, Soldier of Fortune breaks himself free of the illegal hold. Whilst Powerhouse is doing his bit his partner, Dynamo, is the weaker link. The Mercenaries manage to get Dynamo into the ring and Soldier of Fortune finishes him off instead with THE REVENGER. It’s another barren result for the Pillars who are desperate to put their first points on the board. Perhaps they can take something away from this as not many teams have lasted the pace against the Mercenaries lately.
Draconian Sheik defeated Wildcat. Disastrous outing for Wildcat. Totally unable to cope with Drac’s violent style. Gets thrown out the ring about five times before Cannibal is able to steer Drac to ending it inside the ring via DRACONIAN BACKBREAKER.
Titan Wrestling nab a DQ win over Abomination. Cannibal’s penchant for random attacks costing Abomination. The Titans spent most of the bout under the cosh. When Abomination leaves with their manager they find Mad Jester is waiting behind the runway curtain for Cycle Hog after the match is finished. Cycle Hog is clotheslined down. It is payback for being spat on at the last show. Death’s Head quickly comes up behind Jester who suddenly realises he is hopelessly outnumbered and is set upon by Cannibal, Death’s Head and Hog (who now staggers back to his feet). The crowd can hear the carnage behind the curtain and wonder what is going on. The noise dies down as a fleet of security manages to muffle the brawl before things go totally out of control and there is too much destruction. Other notes, Lord Nexus receives criticism for stepping back in the ring too often when he should be concentrating mostly on managing. Titan Wrestling now seem to be categorised as a curtain jerker team that only exists to make most other teams look good.
Quasar pinned Bishop Hell. The Occult Overlord completely botched his interference attempt and it leads to Quasar nailing HIGH ROLLER. Both of these guys have been quiet for a while but it is Quasar who returns with more of a bang. Notable that Quasar has no manager with him as Lord Nexus is busy getting ready for his own match. He also gets interviewed afterwards and prefers to discuss last night’s Gravity Ball results rather than his match. Says he misses the day to day man management of the sport.
Janus beats the Creeper with GORDION KNOT. Janus feels forced by the GWF to wrestle the match but doesn’t dare withdraw from yet another bout that he feels is beneath him. Looking pretty disinterested during the entrances but soon has to wake up when he is nearly caught out and pinned with the first move of the match. After that he destroys the Creeper but gets frustrated. The Creeper absorbs lots of punishment and just keeps getting up for more. Eventually Janus manages to get his finisher on it and looks relieved to of negotiated this obstacle in the end.
Pollux defeated Mutant by DQ. Pollux given a chance to maybe post a first ever victory as he gets a match with Mutant. His dream is granted as he finally avoids being pinned or made to submit. The referee was moments from stopping the match as Pollux was taking so much punishment. Mutant seemed not able to comprehend how to finish the match or maybe just not caring. The beating was barbaric and this couldn’t carry on but then suddenly Mutant threw Pollux outside and then starts trying to attack ringside staff randomly. Commentators, the announcer, technicians are not safe as all get targeted. Security (it is going to be a busy night for them) act fast to restrain Mutant and the ref decides the best thing is to award the match to Pollux by disqualification. Pollux doesn’t even know it as he is now uncocnscious. Later in the show a video link shows Pollux in a hospital bed trying to make a big thing of the win. Gives a barely audible whisper that sounded like he was asking Commissioner Grogan to put him forward for a title shot now he has proved himself.

Card 707 – The Cube on Pallas:
(Johnny Rocket’s Launching Pad … Raven … This was a tense one as Raven guests. Of course Johnny Rocket is now at the helm of the Rocket Men who currently feud with WAR. It was not a long interview. Less than five minutes but here are the main highlights . Johnny doesn’t give Raven much of an intro and when he comes out there is no handshake or offer of a seat. Johnny just looks him up and down like Raven is a piece of dirt. Eventually picks up his mic and starts his questioning. Johnny asks him about WAR and more specifically what it is like working with a hothead like Mace. Never knowing what mood he is going to be in and embracing a hardcore style that doesn’t fit the principles of the team. Raven responds “that’s just how he operates. We give him space when he gets a bit riled. Wouldn’t have him any other way though. Mace is a crucial cog in our team”. Conversation moves onto the Heavyweight belt and whether Raven believes he can hold onto the belt especially with so many guys gunning for it. Raven launches straight in “doesn’t bother me that people are queueing up. That is what being a champion is all about. It is tough being at the top and when I recently lost to Ram it reminded me that I am vulnerable. A loss can happen anytime but you’ve got to take the rough with the smooth. It’s nothing new. Long before I even joined the GWF I was ...” Johnny cuts him off “alright mate, I don’t need your life story. In my opinion you’ve got butter fingers and won’t be able to hold that belt for long. Actually I want to make things more interesting now. You see. Monad is hungry for action. After laying waste to so many guys in the MEGATOURNAMENT Battlezone matches we need to take Monad to the next level. What with you being a champion and all that it would be a great victory if Monad wrestled you”. Clearly Johnny is trying to bait Raven into signing a match against Monad. “A great victory? Assumption is the mother all cock ups Rocket. No way Monad has the skills to beat me. That things arms are dangerous but there are too many weaknesses to be any real threat”. Smiling Johnny says “ok prove it by taking Monad on” and whips out a pre prepared contract. Raven snatches the paper out Johnny’s hand and signs it before tossing it back and leaving. Johnny shouts after him “thank you. Oh, I forgot to mention it’s a cage match by the way. So there will be no escaping Monad’s arms. See you then!” Dramatic match now booked and all set for #709) Tag champs, Thunder and Overkill, barely have to break sweat in their defeating of the Watchmen. Despite the Mercenaries being named as top contenders by the GWF championship committee they are forced to step aside by Colby and Pelf. So as #2 contenders the Watchmen step into the breach. A stumble before the bell by Overkill offers a slither of hope and the Watchmen start on the offensive but it very quickly fades. Aside from the opening 30 seconds they barely register an attack. Tocsin’s lack of agility inhibits him and leads him into being trapped in a corner. Overkill crushes him with TURNBUCKLE TRAP. Tocsin’s noxious breath causes Overkill to pause briefly but he shakes it off and keeps ramming the shoulder in. Once he lets go Tocsin stumbles forward and then crashes face first into the mat. Overkill casually pins whilst also keeping an eye on Painmaster in case a pin save is attempted.
Amazonia beat Cassandra by DQ in a no men allowed match. Cassandra takes advantage of the stipulations by bringing Maxine Babe to ringside with her. Amazonia complains but Cassandra says there was no mention of women not being allowed. After a couple minutes confusion the referee relents and allows Maxine Babe to stay. Amazonia is extra determined now but on the outside of the ring soon finds herself being ganged up on. The ref disqualified Cassandra for this but the greater concern is for Amazonia being able to withstand this. She gets forced into the ring where Cassandra and Maxine Babe take turns to slap and kick her. Suddenly a huge cheer goes up. It is Ms. Liberty running to the ring to even the odds. She picks up Amazonia’s shield on the way and manages to strike Cassandra with it sending her tumbling through the ropes. Maxine Babe doesn’t hang about and vacates voluntarily. Immediately Ms. Liberty tends to Amazonia who is a bit shaken but not too badly hurt. The two of them hug to continue what is a growing friendship.
Demons of Hydra take a massive win over the Gamemasters. Unique approach from the Gamemasters. Star Warrior playing the quarterback role in the match whilst Thantos does most of the heavy lifting. The tactic works fantastically for them at first. They are in total control and Thantos lays it on a plate for Star Warrior. Comes in fresh and connects with COSMIC BIG BANG and then gives the signal to Thantos for ENDGAME to be attempted on Hydra. Between them Darkos and Demon somehow keep Hydra from being pinned. Seems that it will only be matter of time but it is as if these failures take the heart out of the Gamemasters. The Demons now get on top and start dealing damage on the ageing Thantos. Maybe a few years ago he might of been able to come back after a move like THE FINAL ORACLE but not tonight and it is responsible for him getting pinned. Star Warrior is unable to rescue him when it happens.
Wolf back on the winning trail against Draconian Sheik. It is a brawl from start to finish. Wolf is victim to DRACONIAN BACKBREAKER and also sadistically carved with a sharp object but rides it out to win with SAVAGE FACE CLAW.
Death’s Head upsets Max Shield. More misery for Max as he falls to defeat. Death’s Head revelling in a hot run and making big strides up the singles rankings.
Wraith stutters to a DQ win over Vanity. Things just not clicking for any of the Genesis guys this year. Wraith pretty much outwrestled by Vanity. Has to really push himself to muscle out of a covering attempt that follows Vanity’s LADIES CHOICE. Even after that let off he struggles and only triumphs on the back of Vanity using too many of the ringside props during an out of ring altercation.
