Announcments:
It was revealed that the two final teams in the GWF Annual Tag Team Tournament would square off in the next pay per view. Once again, that card would be held on July 4th on Earth, and due to the events of last year, it would titled the first Omega Memorial.
Saturday Night GWF 6/11/88
Match 1: Spike vs. Star Warrior
The Star Warrior/Thantos feud continues as the newly minted Six-Man Tag Champion is sent into the ring against his manager's biggest enemy. Thantos had once again resurrected the Hand name to title his stable. Since Thantos had taken control of Spike, the Gladiator had more success than he did in his early GWF days. However, Star Warrior was probably too much too soon; Star Warrior wins the match.
Match 2: Splatter vs. Badger
Taking a break from tag action, the Incredible Badger would have his hands full with the always unpredictable Splatter. Actually, Splatter was kind of predictable--Badger wins by DQ.
Match 3: Christian vs. Executioner for the Interdimensional Championship
It wasn't quite the gold Executioner wanted, but whatever would get him back into the Championship picture he was willing to do. Christian was getting tired of Thantos' interference, and eventually took matters into his own hands. Executioner had the ref distracted as Thantos went to hit the champ with a chair, but Christian snatched the chair out of the Gamemaster's hands and smacked him across the head with it. Christian then tossed it in the ring, and went after the challenger. The ref was not impressed and disqualified Christian.
Match 4: Massif & Bishop Hell vs. Gemini (Dark & Light)
A Winner's Bracket Match in the Tag Team Tournament. I don't remember the exact details, but Dark gets worked over in this match, and is injured so badly that Light has to continue the rest of his teams matches in the tourney by himself. Massif & Bishop Hell move on to face the surprising team of Ghengis Khan & Creeper
Match 5: Renegade & Pit Viper vs. Bomb Squad (Commander Sam & Adam Blast) for Galaxian Tag Team Championship
What a terrible week for the Hitmen! Renegade & Viper finally reached the top of the tag team heap, and looked relentless against their opponents. Adam Blast's temper get the best of him, and he engaged Renegade in a wild out of ring brawl. The ref had enough of both of their antics and called for the Double DQ.
Match 6: Hitmen (Wolf & Slicer) vs. Brute & Massacre
A Secondary Bracket Match in the Tag Team Tournament. Wolf and Slicer had no problems when Brute decided to team with his fellow Gladiator, but when the brackets came out, the Hitmen were less enthused. Losing the Six-Man belts didn't do this match any favors, and you would never know that those three men shared a title just a few days ago. Emotions spilled over, and Brute & Massacre were eventually DQed, sending them to 0-2 and into the Elimination Bracket.
Champions List:
Champion--Slicer (2/10)
Interdimensional--Christian (3/21)
Tag Team--Renegade & Pit Viper (6/5)
Six-Man Tag Team--Hand (Comrade Terror, Executioner & Spike) (6/8)
Next time: The rest of the tournament, and the announcement of the Omega Memorial matches
