So, the question is do the Simpsons have some kind of Nostradamus on their payroll or have they just been around so long that they have done so many kind of crazy storylines that some are bound to come true?

I don’t know but it is weird how that Simpson’s episode from almost 20 years before the Vegas Golden Knights first game has the Stanley Cup, a 23 banner (Golden Knights of course won the Stanley Cup this year in 2023,) and a pink flamingo (for some reason VGK fans threw pink flamingos on the ice, I know we have the Flamingo casino as the first-ever major casino in Las Vegas set up by Bugsy Siegel) all in that Las Vegas hotel room.

Yea it took me a second to figure out the flamingo throwing, but the casino makes sense. Octopus still makes the most sense. Actually, the banner is 13 and he said 13 was the day of June they won the cup. Of course, all of it would not mean much if not for the Stanley Cup in the room. The joke from that being Vegas had no team and would have seemed back then that they never would. Pretty cool stuff.

The joke from that being Vegas had no team and would have seemed back then that they never would. Pretty cool stuff. Yeah, that's right, it was not a 23 (the year the Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup) but a 13 (for the date of June 13th when they won the Stanley Cup) that was in that episode. But very impressive nevertheless. Yeah, I remember back in the late 1990s (I moved to Las Vegas from Seattle in August 1999 to go to graduate school at UNLV) during the time of that episode the idea of major league sports in Las Vegas seemed like a joke as we were only the 50th top media market (not sure where we are now in terms of media markets) and gambling was still considered a serious issue at the time. But now we have an NHL team, an NFL team, a WNBA team, an incoming MLB team, and I would bet an NBA team in less than 5 years too and two of those teams won championships (Sin City= Win City? ) in the past 12 months.

I am feeling conflicted.
On one had, I really hated seeing VGK today trade Reilly Smith (an original Golden Knight) to Pittsburgh today for a 3rd Round pick.
But on the other hand, this move freed up cap space to allow us to resign our free agent Ivan Barbashev to a five-year contract. I really wanted Barbashev (who we got at the trade deadline and who then played very well for us) to return but I assumed the salary cap situation would prevent it.
I am sad to see Smith go but I do understand the move and I am excited and surprised to get Barbashev back.

Yea the business side of sports can make things tough. Moves like that are a bit easier to deal with when you know there is a good reason for it and not just a move to make a move.

I was glad to see that the Vegas Golden Knights were able to keep their free agent goalie Adin Hill who led them to the Stanley Cup this year as he signed a 2 year contract with them today.

5-0!
VGK is tied for the best start for a defending Stanley Cup Champion matching the Edmonon Oilers who as defending Stanley Cup Champions also started 5-0 during the 1985-1986 season.
If VGK wins tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks then they will have the best start ever for a defending Stanley Cup Champion.
Speaking of tonight's game, I won't be watching it since I ordered Bound for Glory but I read that ticket prices are going really high for it as Chicago fans are eager to see the home debut of Connor Bedard for the Blackhawks.

A quick look at the stats shows no Knights in top 5 of points or goals but 4 in top 5 of +/- which tells me they have a very balanced team. Also, the goalie is 3rd in goals average and 4th in save %. Long season to go of course but I smell repeat.
