Meltzer is indicating that Kelly quit his full-time position but isn't necessarily done as an announcer. Not yet, at least. The idea that ROH is a tire fire still stands, of course. In fairness, Dave isn't the most impartial person when it comes to reporting on ROH. There are issuess that he flat out sidesteps and the ones he doesn't, he tries to figure out the most careful way to go about reporting so he doesn't lose his sources within the company. He generally reports whatever BS number ROH claims for attendance while fans who were at the shows offer corrections and he never listens to them. The All Star Extravaganza TV taping is a real good example of that. The number he claimed didn't add up with pictures from the venue, much less the shows that aired. Anyone else find it interesting that Corino and KK are gone after it was reported they were both looking to take over as booker? Looks like a failed coup to depose Delirious.

They should fire Delirious and replace him with Jerry Lynn. Then Jerry can get Joey Styles to announce the shows.

When I re-watched ECW some time ago I thought, "Man, Joey Styles kind of sucked." He's the PBP equivalent of a spot monkey--he knew move names, but not how to get storylines or the match or the wrestlers over. And he was the worst announcer in history when it came to telegraphing things and blowing surprises. If Styles made a prediction or said something like, "The Dudleys are going to retain the titles!" it was a guarantee that the exact opposite would happen. I doubt he's aged like a fine wine, either.

All bookers--even the good ones--have a shelf life before they burn out. I know it's a cutthroat business and you have to look out for yourself, but there really should be a planned turnover or rotation in the position every year or so.

They also need to stop with the camps. I know it's fun making money on wrestlers but you're passing up really viable talent for the sake of pocket change. It's really effected the mid-card and the bottom of their card. I tell this story a lot but the last show I went to in the summer had like a 10 minute Cheeseburger vs. Beer City Bruiser match. That told me a lot about the state of the company.
It's a shame. I thought it was a great product in 2014 and for most of 2015. But the lazy TV last year and the bleeding of talent is killing them right now.

He was also post produced in ECW. You should find a shoot where Heyman talks about Styles and he'll go through his limitations as an announcer.

That told me a lot about the state of the company. It's a shame. I thought it was a great product in 2014 and for most of 2015. But the lazy TV last year and the bleeding of talent is killing them right now. The product really was fantastic in 2014, they had a hell of a roster and with that kind of roster matchmaking is really easy. It wasn't until around Final Battle 2014 that the product really started to dive, IMO. The New Japan thing isn't even the biggest problem anymore because there's a bit more give on that end of the relationship now than there was even a year ago at this time but that may not last much longer since Kidani's getting ready to go batshit insane and start a promotion here next year. The problem now is that Delirious is bulletproof, has no ideas left and is helping them to sign the company away to two guys who don't have any ideas other than 'push us and our buddies'. I have to give it to them, they wanted to be the modern day nWo and they're really doing it. God bless 'em but ROH isn't WCW and SGB aren't Turner Broadcasting. They're not gonna be able to milk ROH like the nWo did WCW. There's nobody around to tell these guys 'no' anymore. The only real veteran in the locker room is Daniels and he's part of the problem too. We're watching a promotion that had an insane amount of buzz just three years ago die a horrible, agonizing death before our very eyes. It's kind of funny, for all the WCW and TNA comparisons, the ROH comparison feels like it fits way better. TV company buys the promotion, they have a couple of hot years and then incompetence in the office leads to the company going down slow. It kinda bugs me because for a lot of fans (myself included), ROH was the only real link they had to American wrestling after ECW and WCW went away, but at this point of ROH folded I don't think I'd care very much. Also those tryout camps are a horrible idea. A lot of guys go into them knowing it's basically a cash grab for the company (Josh Alexander said this himself) but guys do occasionally get opportunities from them. Unfortunately those guys rarely, if ever, get signed to a contract worth anything.
