LIVE FROM ALOHA STADIUM in HONOLULU HAWAII SUNDAY JANUARY 6th, 2019 BELL TIME: 4:05PM HST Tessa & Tully Blanchard v Trish Stratus & Michael ElginNight Three of the Mixed Tag Team Invitational Tournament kicked off with the best match of the Tournament so far as the Father & Daughter team of Tully & Tessa Blanchard going toe to toe with the all Canadian pairing of Michael Elgin and Trish Stratus. Tully and Trish started this one off and the two started going back and forth for several minutes until Tully tagged in his daughter Tessa. Tessa and Trish then started going back and forth until Trish landed a wicked Chick Kick for the first near fall of the match. After that Elgin tagged into the match and for the next several minutes he tossed Tessa Blanchard around the ring. After missing a Black Hole Slam Elgin found himself on the receiving end of a hammerlock DDT from Tessa before she tagged her father back into this one. After a brief flurry Tully missed a dropkick and Elgin started to toss Tully around the ring and completely isolated Tully from Tessa and even hit a pair of Buckle Bomb's before landing the Elgin Bomb for a near fall. Elgin then tagged in Trish and she kept Tully on the defensive and earned another near fall following a spinebuster. Elgin then tagged himself back into this and Elgin hit the Avalanche Elgin Bomb as Elgin went for the cover Trish prevented Tessa from making the save but Tully somehow just barely got his shoulder off the mat. Tully kicking out seemed to rattle Elgin who then went for a corkscrew splash only for the Four Horseman to roll out of the way. That move then turned the momentum in this one in the favor of the Blanchard's who started to build momentum by first isolating Elgin and then Stratus when Elgin tried to make a defensive tag to "Canada's Greatest Export." Tully and Tessa looked to have this one firmly in hand when Tessa climbed to the top rope and looked to catch Stratus with a top rope cross body block in this one but Trish rolled under and Tessa collided hard with the referee. Tessa then the Double Knee Facebreaker three straight times on Stratus but the referee was completely out and unable to make the count each time. Tessa grew frustrated and tagged in her Dad who went for a grinding chinlock but Stratus fought out and took Tully to the mat with the Air Canada before tagging Elgin back into this one. Elgin then went for a fallaway slam but Tully blocked and nearly ended this one with a wicked piledriver only for Elgin to get his shoulder off the mat as the referee made a long two count. Tully then pulled something from his tights and blasted Elgin twice with it before stuffing it back in as the referee continued to struggle to get back to his feet. Tully then tossed Elgin out of the ring and as he followed the "Unbreakable" Elgin out Elgin recovered and blasted Tully with a spinning backfist before rolling Tully back into the ring and locking on a crossface when Tully refused to tap out Elgin released the hold and landed a Black Hole Slam hooking the leg to earn the pinfall victory for his team in this one. WINNERS: "Canada's Greatest Export" Trish Stratus & "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin via pinfall at the 47:34 markTrish Stratus & Michael Elgin advance to the FINALS of the Mixed Tag Team Invitational TournamentShayna Bazler & Matt Riddle v Courtney Rush & Kevin SteenThe "Demon Assassin" Courtney Rush and "Ace of Spades" Shayna Baszler started this one off and Baszler quickly took Rush to the mat with a pair of gut wrench suplexes before landing a pair of power bomb. Baszler then climbed to the top rope only for Courtney Rush to recover and blast Baszler in the face with her mist. Rush then pulled Baszler off the top rope and went for a cover only for Shayna to kick out. Courtney Rush then landed a black hole slam and went for the cover once again this time keeping Baszler down long enough for Rush and Steen to pick up the pinfall victory in this one. WINNERS: "Demon Assassin" Courtney Rush & "Wrestling's Worst Nightmare" Kevin Steen via pinfall at the 3:53 markCourtney Rush & Kevin Steen advance to the FINALS of the Mixed Tag Team Invitational TournamentBeaver Boys (Alex Reynolds & John Silver) v Too Cool (Brian Christopher & Scott Taylor)The Beaver Boys completely isolated "Too Hot" Scott Taylor right from the opening bell as Alex Reynolds connected with a running high knee that saw Taylor crumble to the mat. Reynolds then hit the Die Another Day before landing a cravate suplex. Reynolds then tagged in John Silver and the Beaver Boys connected with the double flipping DDT before John Silver connected with a pair of deadlift German suplexes. After the second one Taylor rolled out of the ring and Silver followed him out landing a Biel on the arena floor before he rolled Taylor back into the ring and landed the Booby Trap and another deadlift German suplex. Once again Taylor rolled to the arena floor and this time Silver followed him out and landed the Spin Doctor on the arena floor nearly winning the match at this point via count out. After Taylor just barely beat the referees count Silver caught him with another Biel before tagging Alex Reynolds back into this one for Dat Crazy Combo. Reynolds then landed a tornado DDT before going for the cover to earn the pinfall victory in this one. WINNERS: Beaver Boys via pinfall at the 8:29 markThe Beaver Boys advance to the FINALS of the House of Pain Tag Team Championship TournamentN R G (Hype Rockwell & Race Jaxon) v Mustache Mountain (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate)Right from the opening bell this one was all N R G as Hype Rockwell caught Tyler Bate with a short clothesline and quickly followed that up with a tilt-a-whirl power slam. With Bate on the defensive Rockwell went for and connected with a corner cannonball before climbing to the top rope. Bate recovered and pulled Rockwell back into the ring with a top rope arm drag before landing the Tyler Driver '97 for a near fall. Bate then tagged in Trent Seven who went for a suicide dive only for Rockwell to roll out of the way. Rockwell then tagged in Race Jaxon for a stereo shoulder block combination. After that N R G started to use rapid tags to keep Seven isolated from Bate hitting several Complete Shots and double hiptoss into elbow drop combinations. N R G even picked up a pinfall following a double flapjack. After Seven kicked out Race Jaxon caught him with a superkick for another near fall. After Seven kicked out again the "Generator" tagged in Hype Rockwell for the NRG Launch Board only for the impact to sent Trent Seven crashing to the arena floor. N R G then spent the next several minutes making rapid tags to keep Seven on the outside of the ring until Race Jaxon connected the Energizer on the arena floor and Trent Seven was unable to beat the referee's ten count giving N R G the count out victory in this one. WINNERS: N R G via count out at the 14:21 markN R G advance to the FINALS of the House of Pain Tag Team Championship TournamentFalcon Jr v "Latina Sensation" Mercedes MartinezThe "Latina Sensation" didn't waste anytime in this one as she caught Falcon Jr with a brutal shot to the face as soon as the young luchador hit the ring. Martinez then backed Falcon Jr into the corner with several repeated forearms before she started to chop the crap out of him with her trademark brutal chops. Once Falcon Jr's chest was red enough for the "Latina Sensations" liking she pulled the masked man out of the corner and delivered back to back 3 Amigas before making the first cover of the match. Falcon Jr got his shoulder up and that seemed just piss Martinez off who hit another 3 Amigas before landing the Fisherman Buster to put an end to this one. WINNER: "Latina Sensation" Mercedes Martinez via pinfall at the 6:36 mark"Super Cop" Dick Justice (c) w/ "Captain" Lou Albano v Suede ThompsonDick Justice looked to open this one by tossing Suede Thompson into the corner, but the Break Down the Door Tournament Winner reversed it. As Thompson charged in after Justice the "Super Cop" caught him with a brutal boot to the face before he tossed Suede Thompson out of the ring. The reigning House of Pain Champion followed Thompson out and brutally tossed his challenger into the time keepers area. Justice then mounted Thompson and laid in some knuckle sammiches before tossing Thompson back into the ring and crushing Thompson with the Steamroller. Thompson then tried rolling out of the ring to gain some separation but the "Super Cop" followed him out and after landing a pair of sidewalk slams the "Super Cop" called over the "Captain" who handed Justice a pair of handcuffs. Justice then handcuffed Thompson to the barricade sliding back into the ring as the referee was left with no choice but to count out Suede Thompson giving the reigning House of Pain Champion the count out victory in this one. WINNER: "Super Cop" Dick Justice via count out at the 4:22 markDick Justice retains the House of Pain Championship"Lone Wolf" Rex Havoc (c) v "Hangman" Adam Page w/ "Bullet Babe" SoCal Val"Hangman" Page opened this one by blasting the "Lone Wolf" with numerous forearm smashes and knee's to the midsection but Havoc kept trying to shrug them off which infuriated Page who then tried to bite Havoc in the forehead, but the "Lone Wolf" shoved his challenger off and took Page to the mat with a double sledgehammer. With Page on the mat Havoc locked on an inverted Indian deathlock to wear down Page. Page fought his way out of the hold only for Havoc to catch lock on an ankle lock. This time Page tried to fight out of the hold and eventually he reached the ropes only for Havoc to pull him back into the center of the ring and lock Page in another inverted Indian deathlock. Havoc held Page in the move for several long minutes until Page fought his way to the ropes and out of the ring. The two men then started brawling back and forth on the arena floor which continued for the next several minutes until Page caught Havoc with a low blow. Page then rolled Havoc back into the ring and connected with the Rite of Passage to earn the pinfall victory to become the NEW Maple Leaf Wrestling Heavyweight Champion. WINNER: "Hangman" Adam Page via pinfall at the 15:08 markAdam Page has become the NEW MAPLE LEAF WRESTLING HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!!!Beaver Boys (Alex Reynolds & John Silver) v N R G (Hype Rockwell & Race Jaxon)Alex Reynolds and Hype Rockwell started this one off their teams and Hype Rockwell took the early advantage with a pair of chops to the chest before hitting multiple hiptosses. Hype Rockwell then landed a couple of running clotheslines in the corner before landing a corner cannonball. With Reynolds reeling Rockwell climbed to the top rope only for Reynolds to recover and caught Rockwell with a superplex. Reynolds then locked on the Reynolds Wrap and Rockwell fought his way to the ropes to force the break. After being forced to release the hold Reynolds dragged Rockwell into the center of the ring and reapplied the hold, shockingly Hype Rockwell tapped almost immediately giving the Beaver Boys the submission victory. WINNERS: Beaver Boys via submission at the 5:45 markBeaver Boys have become the NEW HOUSE OF PAIN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!!!"Pure Original" Chris Sinclair (c) w/ Veda Scott & JJ Dillon v "Worldwide Desperato" Sami Callihan (c)As soon as the announcements were made to start this one the Worlds Heavyweight Champion "Pure Original" Chris Sinclair struck catching Callihan with a swinging neckbreaker. Sinclair then caught the North American Champion with a Falcon Slam before hitting the Original Destroyer for another near fall. After Callihan kicked out a second time Sinclair landed the Original Neckbreaker once again and Callihan then once again kicked out. Sinclair then connected with back to back lungblowers before landing a brutal Sinclair DDT that planted Callihan hard in the center of the ring finally earning the pinfall victory in this shockingly one sided match up. Standing across from her was "Wrestling's Worst Nightmare" Kevin Steen. Trish immediately tried to take the fight right to Steen but she couldn't overcome the power advantage Steen held. After some back and forth action to start this one Trish made the tag to "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin who over powered Steen and landed several Buckle Bomb's and an Elgin Bomb for a near fall. Steen finally made the tag to the "Demon Assassin" Courtney Rush who hit the ring and started blasting Trish over and over again with her mist and even hit a pair of Red Weddings for near falls on the "Canada's Greatest Export," but Trish kicked out of both. By the time Trish was able to make the tag to Elgin she was an absolute mess as she was covered almost head to toe in mist. Once Elgin hit the ring he completely turned things around for his team fist tossing Rush around the ring for the next stretch of the match. The end of this one saw Steen hit the ring and catch Elgin with a ring apron powerbomb before coming off the top rope with frog splash as Rush tagged herself into the match. The "Demon Assassin" then went for a butterfly suplex but Elgin turned it into a cravate with knees before landing back to back spinning backfists. With Rush unsteady on her feet Elgin landed the Avalanche Elgin Bomb and picked up the pinfall victory as Trish Stratus prevented Steen from making the save with a wicked Chick Kick. Hey guys for those of you wondering where I have been I should let you all know that on December 30th I worked my final shift for the hotel I've been at for about a decade. The hotel closed it's door and is in the process of being demolished. After that I started to get ready for a ventricle hernia removal that happened on the 9th. As I write this I'm still in the hospital recovering. I am hoping shortly after I get home I am hoping to find a comfortable place where I can set up a playing area and get a couple of cards done during my recovery period before I start the process of hunting for a new job (hoping to remain in the same field I've been in, or move onto becoming a travel agent)
Really hope you enjoy the line up of the next NWA show which will feature the four men announced above who will compete to crown the new North American Champion and the final two matches on the show will see both the World Tag Team and Worlds Heavyweight Championships being defended.
