I agree with you about Carter. His best was probably the 2089 Darkos. The worst for me was Mutant. Ugh. The best overall, for me at least, is Vengeance 2101. Though a lot of Werner's POW stuff is top notch.

Worst would have to be Beast Rider (seems like he didn't finish drawing) and the Classics 'Buckwheat' Lord Nexus I would say that Nexus is more Dwayne from "What's Happening!"...(the guy on the left...you know..."hey HEY hey"! Graymar

yeah, I've only seen a couple of Bugdale's stuff, not much of the nGo stuff, but Akuma and Pete Beck's Death Knight 2 is really good. I think he did Hunger and Serpentine too.

Mike Fortune could correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the reason Tom didn't want to work officially with Randy Bugdale was that you told him what you wanted, and he gave you a finished drawing -- no sketches, no "Am I on the right track?", no nothing. So you'd just better hope he was right in his instincts. I do like his Hunger a lot, though. Best art for me has to be Metalhead. Looks like he should just shake his head around like X-Pac. Almost photographic. Werner's POW Saboteur is my current favorite. Carter's first Massacre is probably my favorite of his. And say what you want about Hannibal King, but he drew us some fine-looking womens. Worst art? SECTARIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!! Whew. Now I feel better.

This might sound like sacrilege to some of you, but I always liked Gus' Star Warrior pic from the Revolution era. I'm not saying it's the best pic of Star Warrior ever featured in a COTG edition (Carter's 2090 art anyone?), but it was, IMO a heck of a lot better than Bendis' rendition of the character for his manager card.
I was never a big fan of Snelly, although I know a lot of you are. He had some good art, but he also had some art that I just didn't care for.
The same goes for Bendis. He did some great art, but also botched a lot of legends during his long tenure as COTG artist. (He tried to do something different with Thantos, and failed miserably)
Banks is probably my favorite out of all the COTG artists. I don't think he's done a pic that I don't like. Murdok's SE card is amazing, and I'd be hard pressed to find a piece of art for a character that I like more.

WORST Surprised nobody mention Thantos's manager card. Horrible
Commissioner Reynard B Guile
Most of the Mandrill art
All of the Talon art
Lord Nexus as Rerun

the Best (in no order):
Strong (Werner hit a home run with this one) Endgame 2119 (a powerful pose for a power player) Sly Drury 2122 (looks heel-ishly cool) Godsend 2120 (looks devil-ishly evil....and cool) Savage-T (Werner made Sav-T look bad-A) Euritar 2121 (dynamic pose that says it all)
the Worse (in no order)
Nexus 2084 (embarrassingly bad) Infinity (I really wanted to like this character but his art did nothing for me) Actagon 3000 (just silly looking) Pulsar 2087 (it may just be that his 2090 card was so much better)

Bugdale did some fine work but I can understand wanting a little more control over the process on Tom, or Mark, or Kris or any creative team's part. Bugdale's process looked really involved too, I think he stippled and that takes a long time. I've done it a couple times but never to the extent that he did and all the stuff I've seen of his on bootlegs and official cards looked like it had been done that way. That's hair pulling work. I also want to say it was really hard making Savage T look tough. I might also mention having Banks around is a big plus for Tom. And remember whose saying this, somebody who might benefit if he disappeared
