I was actually just typing up a LOW / Indy rundown of all the news that was included in the Q&A livestream. So here is my writeup of everything, including the awesome news about Jackie Fargo!
The biggest LOW related news is that Jackie Fargo is signed thanks to Brian Christopher. Christopher is friends with Jackie’s daughter and offered to reach out to her for permission. Very cool of him. And Fargo’s family seems very appreciative of the opportunity to help keep his memory alive.
A Best of Canada indy set probable in the near future.
A new promotion will be getting a set in the early fall in place of a promotion that has been in that typical time slot. They were careful to clarify that just because a promotion drops out of an annual release schedule, doesn’t mean they are gone forever.
When asked if there are new releases on the way for smaller promotions like AIW, Todd said it was more likely that we would see new promotions get one-off type sets.
There are a few people whose contracts will not allow new cards to be released. Andre the Giant and Roddy Piper were names that were brought up that are included in this. Tom seemed to think that maybe their current cards could have color added and released in that way but it seemed to be a sort of “thinking out loud” sort of thing.
When asked if there was anybody that had been “chased” for a long time but hadn’t signed, they all agreed that there were wrestlers out there who keep saying “not now but let’s talk again next year” sort of thing. Terry Funk was named as one who famously kept putting Tom off until they lost contact with each other.
So that was it. I've never been able to make it to G-Con so I am always waiting for these big news bits from those that could attend. The livestream was really a nice touch this year. Hope others enjoy reading my rundown here. If other news was revealed through a different format at G-Con, feel free to add on to what I've written here.
