My favorite time of the year finally hit and this year we were in Pittsburgh. Though I've been in Pitt many times to get to wherever the con was (via Nathan Wylde), it was my first real time in the city. Getting there was a breeze for a change. Met with NW and his friend Kathy who also attended the convention for the second straight year. She gave me a lovely dice bag she made for me. I call it my Nightmare Nikki dice bag because I had it made blood red. We were waiting for Jim Steel, so picked up Will while we waited as he needed a ride on Friday. From there we spent time until Steel's late bus (a trend for the weekend as it would turn out) finally arrived. We also found that GPS hates Pittsburgh as it kept making us go in circles until Will's phone finally got us to the hotel we were staying. TM got us a nice hotel though with a very reasonable rate. From there, we basically dropped off stuff until the game started. It was my first major league baseball game and I enjoyed it. Pirates won, they gave away free t-shirts and surprisingly an XL fit me just fine. Talked with several people and met EpicDave's family a bit. From there, we came back for the midnight release and saw Tom and Alex again which was very nice. Got a few hours of sleep and then it was time for breakfast. Met Vegas downstairs and we chatted for a while. The rest of the gang arrived and then Jim, Todd, Vegas and myself went to set up the con. It was a nice place this year with plenty of room. Despite my best efforts, I still had to move around a bit but it was still fun. People were pretty good at returning cards too. Met some great friends like Broc and Diana (congrats you two), Sam, Mike Fortune, Swarm and Matt (who pulled the usual swerve of someone saying they weren't coming and then appearing) and many others (some were at the game the previous night as well) plus some new people like Blechschmidt, Rudmanic and Scott. Tournaments went well if slightly chaotic (I had to cut the Indy tournament to 24 so we could make the wrestling show and do the first triple threat final). We went to the wrestling show which was nice. Andrew Palace was great, loved his card and signed my copy. Ophidian was very cool too. Shane Taylor was beastly in the ring but never saw him outside it. Didn't care much for the schmozz ending but was nice to see Jock Samson. Sunday went smoother than Saturday as I ran the women's and hardcore at the same time and split who could be in them. Might try something like that next year. The cup was some wild action and then it was time to go. Said my goodbyes and got to Greyhound.....my bus was an hour late (sigh) but I got home safely so I can't complain too much. Looking forward to next year even if I have to fly to it. If you haven't gone, please do so. It is well worth the time and the money and cuts my stress levels every time.

After a 2 year hiatus, I made my way back to Galacticon. This marked my 10th Galacticon and it was as great as ever. I skipped the Friday night game, but arrived at around 1 A.M. and was instantly greeted by Tournament Master and Swarm. I went to my room and Mike Fortune had a beer waiting on me.
In the morning we had breakfast at the hotel where we caught up with EpicDave, Broc, Diana, Mike Melesky and a few new people like Will. When we arrived at the convention we instantly entered a tournament where Tank let me down. Things went prettty smooth all day long and I even won Broc’s tournament with the Crimson Shadow and his now infamous Pistol Whip! I also won the auction for 2 classic GWF stickers! After a day of gaming we headed to the IWC show.
The IWC show was surprisingly good early on. My favorite character was “2-time Rookie of the Year” Jaxon Argos. Ophidian and Gory was an excellent match, followed by a Hardcore match that did justice to the stipulation with what seemed to be a good base storyline. The second half of the show was not as good, but some wrestling is better than no wrestling!
After the show myself,Fortune, Will, Tom, Alex, Zeke, Todd, Troy, and Jim Steele went to Primanti Bros. Food was decent, but I got wings as we reviewed Canadian Terminology such as their use of “True”, “Bunny Hugs”, and “Two Fours” to name a few. Afterward myself, Fortune, Todd, Tom, Will, and Alex headed to our hotel room, drank some beer, and watched some Lucha Underground.
On Sunday we caught up at breakfast again then played some tournament. In the Canada Cup I played Enhancement Talent as Helsin and lost every match. I was happy to seeTodd win the cup and thank Troy for running the tournaments. At the end of the day I was further humiliated and lost back-to-back matches with Crimson Shadow to Godsend and Demon Godsend at the hands of the Melesky boys.
As always it was great to catch up with Sam, Reno, Josh, Smoke, Swarm, Matt, Dave, Broc, Diana, Tom, Alex, Fortune, Mike, Todd, Zeke and meet new people such Will, Bob, and a few others I’m sure I’m forgetting. This community is fantastic and I missed you all the past two years. If you’ve never been, I urge everyone to attend at least once!
