When we last left The Temple at Ultima Lucha I:
“A mist creeped in over a darkened sky as Lucha Underground Boss Sly Drury left his luxury vehicle and headed towards the rear entrance of The Temple. As he reached for the door handle another hand grabbed his wrist preventing him from going inside. Drury attempted to break free when another hand reached across his face stroking his cheek before a female voice whispered to him that tonight was “the end” and that the gift of the Eye of Tyr would belong to its rightful owner. Suddenly the back door opened and standing there was Ultramantis Black who asked an obviously shaken Drury what was wrong. Drury responded that nothing was wrong and asked Ultramantis Black if he was ready to deal with Sami Callihan, the former Jeremiah Crane. UMB said that Callihan would not be a problem and again asked Drury if he was ok. Drury angrily responded yes and told UMB to make sure that he got the job done against Callihan.
Once back in his office, Drury looked down at the Eye of Tyr, which had been gifted to him by UMB when he came through the time portal and knew full well that the whispering woman was Catrina and that her and Mil Muertes would stop at nothing to take control of the powerful pendant and ultimately The Temple. Drury wondered if he had made a mistake by trusting Catrina to control the monster Matanza, a control which she manipulated into putting Matanza against Muertes in a Graver Consequences Match in the main event of Ultima Lucha 1…
The main event, a Graver Consequences match between Matanza and Mil Muertes, ended in a shocking moment that no one could have seen coming. The setting was eerie as a group of druids carried the casket out to ringside followed closely by Muertes and the beautiful Catrina. Matanza was then unleashed from the bowels of the building and rushed the ring where he and Muertes began trading blows. This was a war of epic proportions with both men unleashing their most powerful moves. A controversial moment occurred when Catrina got involved and assisted Muertes in putting Matanza inside the coffin. The referee refused to allow that and ejected her from ringside as the match continued. She refused to leave and taunted the referee with her mystic stone prompting Ultramantis Black to run down to ringside and lift her from behind carrying her off to the back!
Muertes was furious at her ejection and that gave Matanza an opening with the two powerhouses battling on top of the coffin. Matanza staged a powerful comeback and even hit the Wrath of the Gods on Muertes. Things were looking bleak for Muertes until he managed to hit the Flatliner on Matanza. It was at that point that Ultramantis Black returned and urged Muertes to finish the job. Muertes made a throat slashing gesture as shockingly Catrina and Sly Drury, the Boss of Lucha Underground, came out of his office and distracted the referee. That allowed UMB to assist Muertes in delivering a finishing blow on Matanza before locking him inside the casket. That was it for the “Monster” who was carried out in the coffin while Catrina, Drury and UMB raised the arms of Muertes in victory.
Then came the most shocking moment of all as Drury removed the Eye of Tyr from around his neck and handed it to its former owner UMB. Catrina, flanked by the massive Muertes, bowed her head as UMB reached over and placed the Eye of Tyr around her neck. Catrina looked up staring daggers as she clutched her mystic stone and raised it high while also clutching the Eye of Tyr. Drury grabbed the mic and said that the Eye of Tyr now belonged to the “evil high priestess of Lucha Underground” and that things at The Temple would never be the same again. Catrina spoke saying that the deal was finalized when they sealed Matanza in the coffin. She thanked Drury for honoring his end of the deal and insisted that he remain on as the Boss of Lucha Underground while she maintains control of Muertes. Drury agreed and together with UMB bowed down to her as she was lifted onto the shoulders of Muertes ending a frightful turn of events…”

Back to present day…
Catrina, flanked by Sly Drury and Ultramantis Black, stood in center ring at The Temple calling on the believers to rise or be struck down. Many in the crowd did as she said but one person didn’t – Matt Striker. Sitting alongside his new co-host and color commentator “Killer” Kevin Condron, Striker looked very unhappy and Catrina took notice of that. Clutching the Mystic Stone in one hand and glancing at the Eye of Tyr dangling from her neck to just above her bosom, the “evil high priestess” demanded that Striker come into the ring. Striker reluctantly did as she said with Catrina demanding to know why he was ruining her moment. Striker tried to apologize but she cut him off and said that those kinds of actions will not be tolerated under the Unholy Triad.
Striker looked worried as a shadow crept up behind him and it was none other than Mil Muertes! The hulking beast quickly picked Striker up and planted him with a Flatliner much to the delight of Catrina, Drury and UMB. As Catrina stared down at the lifeless body of Striker, she said “let that be an example to all who dare to cross me in The Temple!” Apparently Delirious, with his ally Crossbones in tow, didn’t get the message as he ran down to ringside and pulled Striker out of the ring. Catrina stared down Delirious with the white-hot intensity of a thousand suns before informing him that he would be having a special match tonight, a match against the undefeated Mil Muertes. Delirious didn’t seem to care but Crossbones obviously knew that the situation may not be a good one for his friend.
Delirious and Crossbones carried Striker to the back as a happy Condron, assisted by his Social Media Manager Thomas, took over the broadcast position. Catrina finished up by informing the believers that the winners of the King of Trios qualifying matches tonight would go on to represent Lucha Underground at IWA King of Trios, and that the winners had better bring the trophy home to The Temple. After sending Muertes to the back, Catrina was joined by Drury and UMB, the “Unholy Triad of Lucha Underground”, in returning to Drury’s office in The Temple. Drury, who is still considered the Boss of Lucha Underground, must be wondering how stable his position is with Catrina having possession of the Mystic Stone, the Eye of Tyr and Mil Muertes, her own “Unholy Triad” so to speak…

* The “Latina Sensation” Mercedes Martinez was intently training for her match with “The Machine” Brian Cage, a rematch from Ultima Lucha I which she was the winner of, when Caesar B. Black interrupted her. Black, the manager of Cage, pleaded with Martinez to back out of the match for her own good. He said that Cage has been in a rage since losing to her and that he could not make any promises that she would be safe tonight. Martinez laughed and told him to get out so that she could finish her routine. Black insisted on her backing out of the match for her own good or else. Martinez grabbed the manager by the collar and backed him up against the wall threatening him with violence if he didn’t leave. Black obliged but then attempted to sneak up on Martinez but that was a huge mistake. He took a swing but she ducked and lifted him onto her shoulders before proceeding to do five squats with him! She then dropped him on the weight bench and shoved the barbell down against his chest saying that he needed to send that message to “The Machine” because history was going to repeat itself…

Match Highlights:
The IWA King of Trios qualifying matches, set up via four trios matches at Ultima Lucha I, kicked off with Samuray Del Sol, Dalton Castle & Saturyne taking on Super Crazy, Halcon Oro & Chavo Pequeno. The Lucha libre style was on full display here particularly during a torrid exchange between Del Sol and Super Crazy. Saturyne fared very well during her time in including taking down Super Crazy with a spinning heel kick and a springboard cross body. Castle scored a near fall on Pequeno with the Deadlift German Suplex late in the match. The finish, however, saw Oro come off the top rope with the Ave De Rapina, a top rope huracanrana into a roll-up, on Saturyne for the pin. Crazy, Oro and Pequeno advanced to the final round with a spectacular victory.
The other IWA King of Trios match saw “The Darewolf” PJ Black, Son of Havoc & El Generico take on The Mack, Moose & Dante Fox. Although both teams had good runs of offense in this battle it was The Mack, Moose and Fox that seemed to be at the top of their game. Moose used all 300-pounds of his body to assault Son of Havoc late in the match including nailing him with the Pounce. That made the bearded masked man easy pickings for Fox who came off with top rope with Air Fox, a shooting star cannonball, on Havoc resulting in a snake eyes pin. There was a dust up post-match as Black and Generico took offense to Moose and Fox posing over the fallen Havoc but The Mack stepped in to make peace between the two sides. The victory meant that The Mack, Moose and Fox were moving on to face Super Crazy, Halcon Oro & Chavo Pequeno in the main event to decide the Lucha Underground representative team at IWA King of Trios.
The main event pitting Super Crazy, Halcon Oro & Chavo Pequeno against The Mack, Moose & Dante Fox just about tore the house down. With the final spot in the IWA King of Trios tournament hanging in the balance, both teams went all out hoping to attain victory. The luchador squad had an incredible run early as they neutralized The Mack and nearly gained a fall when Crazy hit the Moonsault. Moose helped turn things around for his team using his size and power advantage. The big man hit such moves as the Avalanche and the Pounce leaving Crazy and his men in a bad state. After a Pounce on Oro, Fox got the tag and scored a big near fall on the luchador with Lo Mein Pain. The Mack got back into it and twice hit the MDX on Pequeno, the second of which resulted in a near fall. Crazy came back scoring a two count on Moose after a spectacular springboard quebrada. The finish saw Pequeno going for the Gory Special on Moose but that was broken up setting off a six-way brawl. During the melee, Moose nailed Pequeno with a High Jump Corner Dropkick and covered the masked man for the pin.
The Mack was fired up post-match saying that along with Moose and Fox they are going to win King of Trios and bring the medals back to The Temple. He also revealed a name for their unit and that they are going to be called Big Mack Attack drawing cheers from the crowd. Any good feelings were subdued, however, when Catrina emerged from the office and told The Mack, Moose and Fox that they had better win the tournament or there would be consequences. She was then joined by Sly Drury and Ultramantis Black as she held up the Mystic Stone and gestured to the Eye of Tyr showing off the power that she now holds in The Temple…
In other action…
The highly anticipated Ultima Lucha I rematch between the “Latina Sensation” Mercedes Martinez and “The Machine” Brian Cage was as heated as it gets. Cage, who was accompanied by his manager Caesar B. Black, was seething as Martinez made her way to the ring to a big pop from the crowd. He was embarrassed by the loss to her at Ultima Lucha I and was looking for some revenge. He nearly didn’t get it as Martinez dominated early hitting such moves as the brainbuster, 3 Amigas and repeated forearms. Cage was reeling but came back with Chain Link and a brutal discus lariat. Black looked on with approval as Cage lifted Martinez up and delivered Weapon X but somehow she kicked out of the pin. Cage was furious over a “slow count” as was Black who jumped up on the ring apron to argue with the referee. The battle continued in and out of the ring with some brutal exchanges. Martinez more than held her own against the powerful Cage but this time she was unable to put him away. Cage made a counter and hit the Backbreaker and Neckbreaker Combo to score the pin. The crowd jeered the decision but were shocked when Cage extended a hand to Martinez to help her up. It looked like an honorable move but then Cage kicked her in the stomach and delivered Weapon X for good measure. Black then put his foot on top of Martinez and raised his arms in a victorious pose as more jeers poured down on him and Cage.
The in-ring debut of Los Rancheros (Raul & Rogelio), accompanied by their manager Howdy Price, couldn’t have been any more impressive as they took on Hallowicked & Frightmare and Mil Mascaras & Prince Puma, accompanied by Konnan, in a Triple Threat Match. This one fall to a finish battle with three men in at a time with tag team rules applying. Los Rancheros almost won it with Price Check, a spike piledriver, on Puma but Frightmare broke up the pin. Frightmare then hit Kneecolepsy on Puma but Raul broke that up. What looked to be a sure finish was Mascaras hitting his Flying Bodypress on Rogelio but Raul pulled the referee out of the ring at the count of two. The finish of a wild bout saw Puma dive over the ropes onto both members of Los Rancheros. With Puma out, Hallowicked and Frightmare hit the Double Sleepy Hollow on Mascaras with Hallowicked scoring the pin. It was a surprise finish and another notch in the belt of Hallowicked as he scored a fall on Mascaras. As Puma and Frightmare fought to the back, Hallowicked issued a Mask vs. Mask challenge to Mascaras but before it could be answered Los Rancheros jumped Hallowicked and Mascaras trying to take their masks off but they escaped from the ring in the nick of time.
Mil Muertes, accompanied by Catrina, remained undefeated as he beat Delirious in a brutal battle. Crossbones accompanied Delirious to ringside but Catrina, exerting the power she shares with the office of Lucha Underground, had the referee order him to the back. Delirious got off to a strong start including hitting a downed Muertes with Shadows Over Hell. Muertes took control went it went to the outside and he took great pleasure whipping Delirious into the fencing on the side wall. A Muertes Splash netted a two count before Delirious struck back with Chemical Imbalance II prompting an angry look from Catrina. After another battle on the floor, Muertes ripped up the mask of Delirious and busted him open with several runs into the ring post. That proved to be the deciding factor as a Dagger in the Heart, Muertes awesome delivery of the spear, ended it via pinfall. Catrina subsequently crawled on top of Delirious and went for the Lick of Death but Crossbones returned and pulled Delirious out of the ring to safety. That set off Catrina who ordered Crossbones to face Muertes when Lucha Underground returns to The Temple.
Jerry Lynn, the subject of much prodding by Lucha Underground boss Sly Drury during season one, hoped to have a fresh start as he took on the brandy sipping Delavar Daivari. Lynn outlasted two of his allies, 2 Cold Scorpio and Rob Van Dam, during season one with Drury forcing them into Loser Leaves The Temple bouts. It was a bitter time for Lynn as he was forced to compete in such matches by Drury. Daivari, still obsessing over his glass of brandy, was caught off guard by Lynn who blitzed him and pinned him quickly after a Springboard Dropkick. Daivari went ballistic afterward and smashed his brandy glass threatening to use it as a weapon but Lynn quickly sent him out of the ring with a dropkick followed by a suicide dive. Ultramantis Black then emerged from the office and, speaking on behalf of Drury and Catrina, informed Lynn that next time at The Temple he would be getting a special gift – a match with the boss himself, Sly Drury!
Marty “The Moth” Martinez, with an assist from his sister Mariposa, scored an upset win over Sami Callihan. After losing to Ultramantis Black in a grudge match at Ultima Lucha I, Callihan was looking to get off to a strong start in the new season of Lucha Underground. A backstage meeting with Mariposa ruined that as Callihan was double-crossed in the end. The finish saw Mariposa provide a distraction allowing “The Moth” to come off the second rope with Lights Out to score the pin. “The Moth” flapped around the ring in celebration as a disgusted Callihan looked on. Mariposa simply stared down Callihan who grabbed the mic and said if that is how she wants to play it she will get the full wrath of the “Callihan Death Machine”. Callihan claimed in the backstage discussion that Mariposa wanted him to teach “The Moth” a lesson because he keeps losing. “The Moth”, who was on the losing side in all four of his matches during season one, was upset about that until Mariposa whispered something to him. Martinez then pointed at Callihan laughing uncontrollably. Callihan became furious and said that he has no problem teaching “The Moth” and Mariposa a lesson and would take both on in a handicap match which was sanctioned by Sly Drury for the next card at The Temple.
