Thanks for the great feedback Troy, Aceldamas, Crimson, Pariah and Bri and an extra thanks to Pariah for the Skid Row posting. That was nice. Yes, the Sherri-Buddy-Mountie thing came to me while thinking about Toronto and WC12 weekend and I just had to go with it. I'm still laughing about it especially with them being cleared by The Mountie who is Canadian law after all Sly Drury is a favorite of mine from the GWF universe and having him involved in Lucha Underground is fun. It will be interesting to see how he fares against Jerry Lynn and yes it does seem like Catrina has the power over the Boss for right now. Thanks also guys for your thoughts on King of Trios. I will try to post the full lineups for that big weekend soon but coming up right now is the debut of Atlantic Coast Wrestling, I hope you enjoy it... Match Highlights:
The main event battle between veteran stars “Bullet” Bob Armstrong and Harley Race was a match worthy of headlining the ACW debut show. Race was the number one roster pick by ACW but Armstrong showed that he belongs in the conversation as well by taking the former LOW World Heavyweight champion to the limit. Race held control early and scored a two count with a backbreaker followed by a back suplex. Armstrong struck back with a running knee lift rocking Race and followed up with a bodyslam and press for a two count of his own. The battle continued at this kind of pace before Race scored with a run into the ring post. He then hit the Piledriver but it only resulted in a two count as Armstrong kicked out. Armstrong drew on the energy of the crowd as he mounted a great counter attack but unfortunately he was unable to put it away. The finish saw Race going for a deathjump attack which resulted in him delivering the Diving Headbutt and that was all she wrote. Race covered Armstrong to score the pin and go in the history books as the winner of the first main event in ACW.
The semi-final was a barn burner of a trios match as Blackjack Mulligan, Magnum T.A. & “Wildfire” Tommy Rich took on the “Russian Bear” Ivan Koloff, Masked Superstar & Larry Zbyszko. The heat was off the charts for this one as all six-men looked to impress in an important spot on the ACW debut show. Mulligan and Koloff had a brutal exchange at the start pummeling each other in and out of the ring. The Superstar tagged in and nearly put Mulligan away with the Cobra Hold but he fought out of it. Magnum T.A. followed for his team and set up Zbyszko for a near fall by Rich who tagged in connecting with a right uppercut. Zbyszko battle back against Rich and nearly pinned him with the Piledriver while using the ropes for leverage but that was broken up by Mulligan. A later exchange between Magnum and Koloff saw the “Russian Bear” pick up a two count with the Russian Hammer. Things broke down at the end with the Superstar, who appeared to load a foreign object into his mask, scoring the pin on Magnum T.A. after delivering a Headbutt. Mulligan and Rich protested the decision to the referee as Magnum was knocked out cold but Koloff, Superstar and Zbyszko were declared the winners of the match.

The popular Brad Armstrong received a huge opportunity as he challenged The Mountie for the LOW Tex-Arkana Television title. Without his manager Sherri Martel in his corner, due to her new obligations as Ring Angels champion, The Mountie had to take a different approach to this title defense. He excelled early including nearly winning it by count out after a throat drop on the guard rail. He also punished Armstrong with the Boston Crab looking for a submission. Armstrong battled back scoring a two count with a flying bodypress off the top rope and then locked on a sleeper hold looking to put The Mountie out. The Mountie escaped and held control briefly before Armstrong began a strong offensive. He hit moves like the dropkick and two-handed bulldog hoping to put the champion away. In the end, though, The Mountie resorted to using his controversial Shock Stick in full view of the referee resulting in a disqualification. Armstrong got the win, but The Mountie escaped with a successful version six defense of the title.
Six-time LOW World tag team champions the Midnight Express (“Loverboy” Dennis Condrey & “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton), accompanied by Jim Cornette, got off to a strong start in ACW with a victory over Mike Graham & Tracy Smothers. This was a great bout with both teams showing some solid offense, which was impressive for Graham and Smothers as they were teaming up for the first time. They did enough to give Cornette heart palpitations which the fans enjoyed. The Express went to their veteran tag team experience to win it when they isolated Graham and Condrey hit the Suplex onto Partner’s Knee allowing Eaton to score the pin. Cornette boasted about the win backstage afterward and said that his men will easily dominate the tag team division in ACW and go on to win the LOW World tag team titles for a seventh time from “those teeny-bopper peons” the Rock n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson).
The first of two big trios matches saw Danny Hodge, The Patriot & Sam Houston take on Johnny Valentine, Larry “The Axe” Hennig & Angelo Poffo. This was a war from the opening bell with both teams trading blows with seemingly reckless abandon. Hodge, a former six-time LOW Junior Heavyweight champion, is known for his technical skill but he had no problem mixing it up with the rugged opposition. Some great moments in this one including The Patriot hitting the Patriot Missile on Poffo for a big near fall and then catching Valentine with Uncle Slam for another near fall. Valentine nailed Houston with the Atomic Skullcrusher for what looked to be a sure pin but The Patriot broke it up. Valentine got his revenge on the masked man later by leveling him with a backbreaker which set up Hennig blasting The Patriot with The Axe for the pin.
Manager Rock Riddle scored a coup when he joined ACW and signed The Mongols (Bepo & Geeto) and the Missing Link to contracts. First up were The Mongols and the rugged tandem looked unstoppable against Double-X (Mr. X & Mr. X II) appearing courtesy of LOW All-Star Wrestling. They isolated Mr. X and tore him apart before ending it with the Mongolian Drop, a backbreaker over the knee by Bepo combined with a Top Rope Knee Drop from Geeto. Riddle was all smiles as his two madmen from Mongolia served notice that the participants in the ACW tag team division are in for some real trouble.
As for the Missing Link, he didn’t fare as well taking on the double tough Redd Dogg formerly of PCW. Redd Dogg was up for the task taking the battle to the Link both in and out of the ring. He even survived the Back Flying Head Butt and came back hitting his own finisher, the Blackout, for a big near fall. When Redd Dogg went for it a second time, Riddle got involved and attempted to pass in a chair to the Link. Redd Dogg managed to intercept it and blasted the Link with a chair shot over the head in full view of the referee. The Link somehow shook it off and kept battling Redd Dogg as the bell rang. The Link officially won it by disqualification, but Redd Dogg showed a lot in the way he battled in this one and drew a lot of support from the fans.
The dynamic Tyler Black, coming off a huge win over Rob Van Dam at WrestleCade 12, opened his ACW career beating tough veteran Randy Rose in the opener. Black, formerly of The Shield in the IWA, signed with ACW after spending a few weeks billing himself as the “hottest free agent in LOW”. Rose is more than capable but did not fare well here as Black dominated most of the match and ended it with a spectacular Phoenix Splash for the pin.
