Thanks as always for the comments and support Pariah, Bri and Troy. Bri, I decided to colorize the results to make it easier for those who just want to know who beat who without having to read the descriptions. I know many other fellow promoters do this so that is where the inspiration came from. I'm glad you all enjoyed the IWA show and I have to say Danielson vs. Cole was an incredible bout. Those dice were hot for that one. Next time I will be posting the first LOW All-Star Wrestling episode featuring Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby Heenan. I had a blast using that card and once the write up is finished I will post it. But first is more action south of the border courtesy of Lucha MAX. I hope you enjoy it...
LOW Lucha MAX - Arena Mexico - Mexico City, Mexico (Card #1340)
* Lucha MAX owner Karlee Perez was in her office discussing the recent King of Trios event with Ultramantis Black, her trusted associate. She said that the event was a huge success and put Lucha MAX on the map in LOW. Her only disappointment was not seeing a lucha team win the newly created LOW Trios titles. Black agreed with her but then gave her credit for bringing the champions, the New Age Horsemen, in to face the men they defeated in the finals – Super Crazy, El Generico & Juventud Guerrera – in a rematch. Perez said the negotiations were difficult, especially dealing with their manager J.J. Dillon, but that LOW Commissioner Teddy Long stepped in and sealed the deal for the big rematch.
Prince Puma then showed up in the office demanding to know why he didn’t have a match tonight. Perez said that he needed to cool down after losing his temper at King of Trios. Puma disagreed and wanted to know why Konnan was getting the match with Vampiro tonight. Perez referred to the legendary rivalry between the two men and that this was her first opportunity to sign them to a singles match so she took it. Puma became frustrated and stormed out of the office as Perez smiled, disturbingly showing some of the Catrina side of her personality.
She then turned on the video wall at Arena Mexico and addressed the crowd, highlighting the LOW Trios title main event along with the big Konnan vs. Vampiro match. She also said that she accepted the request by Swoggle to face Demus in a minis match, though stating that Swoggle is not under contract to Lucha MAX so she would not be responsible for anything that happens in the match.
A cut in the video feed revealed Salina de la Renta and Mil Muertes somewhere in the bowels of Arena Mexico. Salina said that Karlee thinks she has the power but she is wrong. She called her out for assisting Brian Cage in winning the Steel Cage match with Muertes at King of Trios using the Mystic Stone. That was something that she used to control Muertes in Lucha Underground and Salina vowed to take it from her. As for tonight, she was confident that Muertes and his trios partners would dominate Cage and his teammates and that ultimately Muertes will get Cage back in the ring one-on-one and finish the job…
1) Melina, Ivelisse, Su Yung & Holidead defeated Edith Surreal, Kris Statlander, Ashley Vox & Delmi Exo
* Atomicos action from the Reinas Division opened things up as Lucha MAX newcomer Edith Surreal teamed with Kris Statlander and Team Sea Stars, Ashley Vox & Delmi Exo, facing the rudas contingent of Melina, Ivelisse, Su Yung & Holidead. Unfortunately for Surreal she didn’t have many chances to show off her skills as Melina’s team dominated much of the action. They won it when Su Yung caught Statlander with the Spider Headscissors pinning combination.
2) Demus defeated Swoggle
* Swoggle traveled to Lucha Max to demand this match with Demus following their recent altercation in Houston, TX. Although Demus is known as a dangerous competitor, frequently competing against larger opponents, Swoggle has a hardcore side himself. This was a tough fight but unfortunately for Swoggle it was Demus getting the better of it. Demus took to the air a few times, including hitting a frog splash, before he nailed Swoggle with the dreaded Martinete, a tombstone piledriver, for the pin. Swoggle had to be carried out on a stretcher much to the delight of Demus.
3) Los Rancheros (Raul & Rogelio, with Howdy Price) defeated Samuray del Sol & Flamita
* Tecnicos stars Samuray del Sol & Flamita had their hands full with manager Howdy Price and his Los Rancheros, Raul & Rogelio. This was a real barnburner featuring near falls, a ref bump via a deathjump by Rogelio and great show of resilience from Flamita. He managed to survive the Price Check late and made a hot tag to del Sol who cleaned house. Things were looking good for the tecnicos until Raul caught Flamita with a Counter Cradle Hold on a backdrop and scored the pin. Price ordered the Rancheros to unmask them post-match but del Sol and Flamita escaped.
4) Trish Stratus defeated Scarlett Bordeaux
* Two beautiful stars of the Reinas Division squared off as Trish Stratus took on Scarlett Bordeaux. Though Stratus is more experienced, Bordeaux gave her a run for her money in this match. Bordeaux impressed with some nice counters and had Stratus in trouble several times. Straus was able to persevere, though, when she delivered Air Canada followed by Stratusfaction for the pin.
5) The Kingdom (Matt Taven, Vinny Marseglia & TK O’Ryan) defeated Luchasaurus, Rey Horus & Laredo Kid
* Tremendous trios action saw the tecnicos team of Luchasaurus, Rey Horus & Laredo Kid face The Kingdom consisting of Matt Taven, “Horror King” Vinny Marseglia & TK O’Ryan. Taven was on the receiving end of some serious offense including taking the finishers of all three opponents. He somehow survived thanks to resilience and timely saves by his partners. Taven took great pleasure in joining his teammates to deliver Resolution on Laredo Kid but somehow he kicked out. Laredo Kid showed great fire after that but was ultimately taken out when The Kingdom hit The Melvin Maker on him with O’Ryan scoring the pin.
6) Daga & Sammy Guevera defeated Felino Blanco & Kid Lykos
* This was an interesting bout as Kid Lykos teamed with Felino Blanco against Daga & Sammy Guevera. It turns out that Daga and Guevara put the blame on Lykos for their loss at King of Trios so Lykos recruited Blanco to face them in a tag match. Lykos had his moments but Daga and Guevara consistently got the better of their former ally. The finish saw Guevera score the pin on Lykos after hitting the 630 Senton.
7) Mil Muertes, Pirata Morgan & Rey Bucanero (with Salina de la Renta) defeated Brian Cage, Bandido & PJ Black
* Intense trios action saw “The Machine” Brian Cage, Bandido & “The Darewolf” PJ Black take on the Salina de la Renta-led team of Mil Muertes, Pirata Morgan & Rey Bucanero. Cage and Muertes wasted no time going at each other and it was brutal, including each man surviving the respective finishers of their rival – Weapon X and the Flatliner. Bandido also had his chance to get after Bucanero, the man who injured him, and nearly put him away with the moonsault fallaway slam. Bandido’s thirst for revenge did him in late as Muertes dominated him outside and that set up Morgan applying the Pirata Lock, a crossface scissored armbar, for the submission victory.
8) Mil Mascaras, Hallowicked & Frightmare defeated Los Ingobernables (Rush, Killer Kross & Homicide)
* Another big trios match saw Mil Mascaras team with the Nightmare Warriors, Hallowicked & Frightmare, against the Los Ingobernables faction of Rush, Killer Kross & Homicide. Mascaras has had a ton of trouble with Los Ingobernables and that played out here as he took a beating from his rivals. Mascaras impressively survived both the Bull Horns and Rush Driver from Rush frustrating the rudos star. The Nightmare Warriors played a big part in the outcome, including saving Mascaras from defeat after Kross caught him with the Doomsday Saito. That led to Mascaras recovering and gaining revenge on Homicide for an early assault as he trapped him in a Standing Surfboard. As the Nightmare Warriors cut off Rush and Kross, Mascaras cinched the hold on forcing Homicide to concede giving the “Man of 1,000 Masks” and his partners a big win.
9) Konnan defeated Vampiro (with Darby Allin) by DQ
* The intensity was off the charts as Konnan took on his rival Vampiro, who was accompanied by his protégé Darby Allin. It was interesting to note that Prince Puma, the protégé of Konnan, was not at ringside. The two longtime adversaries engaged in a hard fought bout which Konnan nearly won after hitting the Niagara Driver. Vampiro got his foot on the ropes for a break there and stormed back blasting Konnan with a superkick. The intense Vampiro went on a nice offensive until Konnan countered a fireman’s carry slam and hit a belly to belly suplex.
A subsequent power bomb into a jackknife cradle by Konnan saw Allin break up the pin by coming off the top rope with the Coffin Drop. Konnan won it by DQ but was the victim of a post-match attack by Vampiro and Allin until Puma, brandishing a chair, made the save. Puma then looked to hit Konnan in the back with the chair but instead dropped it and helped him out of the ring. The actions of Puma did not go unnoticed by the crowd who jeered him despite the fact that he didn’t go through with an attack on Konnan.
10) LOW Trios titles: Curt Hennig, Tully Blanchard & CW Anderson© (with J.J. Dillon) defeated Super Crazy, El Generico & Juventud Guerrera to retain the titles
* The LOW Trios titles were on the line in this King of Trios finals rematch as Super Crazy, El Generico & Juventud Guerrera took on the defending champions the New Age Horsemen consisting of Curt Hennig, Tully Blanchard & “The Enforcer” CW Anderson. Manager J.J. Dillon was in the corner of the Horsemen as they looked to retain the titles. This match was off the charts with action throughout along with a controversial moment that turned the match around. Generico looked to have it won when he hit the Brainbustaaahhh!!! on Hennig but Dillon interfered. That led to Generico chasing Dillon around the ring and nearly getting counted out. Later it was Crazy going for the Triple Moonsault on Hennig but he got his knees up on the third attempt. Both teams came ever so close to victory but in the end Guerrera missed a deathjump leading to Henning basting him with The Axe to score the pin. It was a tough but successful version two title defense for the New Age Horsemen.
