It was great to see you on Friday iowaoaks! Sorry I didn't have time to hang out, it was pretty hectic day of the show. Too tired today for a long wrap up, but it was another awesome event. Tim got a good LOW signing and I got to serve as MC of the Hall of Fame inductions. That's awesome! You'll have to post a recap once you get some rest (if you don't mind). I love hearing about these events! How'd you end up getting to MC?

They were kind enough to jump on and podcast a bit for the August podcast release. Now we'll have to get Chad back on to tell this story!

Good LOW signings are always good. Sounds like a great time and one of these years I'll figure a way to hit this and both cons.

It was so much fun getting back to Waterloo after missing in 2018! Here is just a small collection of highlights: - Had a blast talking with Todd for the podcast and reliving memories of COTG and Galacticons past.
- Got to meet John Arezzi of Pro Wrestling Spotlight and check out his amazing collection of pro wrestling memorabilia. John really praised the event and hopefully will return for more.
- The IPW card on Friday afternoon and evening was amazing with some great indy talent from the Midwest circuit, as well as more nationally-known names like Curt Stallion, Wes Brisco, and Brian Pillman, Jr. Got to talk to Brian for quite a while and he is a really awesome guy.
- Curt Stallion won the Hall of Fame Classic tournament, beating AirWolf in the finals in an awesome match. Stallion's been in the tournament all three years and is such a talented wrestler.
- I helped Ultimo Dragon and Sonny Onoo during one of their autograph signings. I used my Spanish for the common language with Ultimo. He looked good in the ring in his match Friday night against Matty Star.
- Lisa Marie Varon was really friendly and had a good match with Miss Frankie J. on Friday night. She came out to her original WWE theme of "All The Things She Said," which I had just heard a few days before for the first time in years.
- Got to meet Thunderbolt Patterson and listen to his stories, which was a blast!
- Bought Sgt. Slaughter a vodka tonic at the banquet and also got put in the Cobra Clutch.
- Sang "Just a Gigolo" by David Lee Roth for karaoke on Thursday night in front of former Global referee James Beard.
- Witnessed the LOW signing that Chad mentioned and was really happy it worked out, as it was one of our missions.
I am sure there are more that I'm forgetting! It was such a busy weekend as usual. Chad did a great job as MC and he and Troy Peterson did a great job of planning and running the weekend's event. It was great seeing Tim and Iowa Oaks again, as well as Troy, James Jeffries, Frankie J., and the rest of the Impact Pro Wrestling family. This was my 14th time attending and was one of the most fun ones I can remember! I am hoping to be back in 2020. If you are ever to get to one of these events, I highly recommend it!

Only bad thing about the weekend was only one trip each to Single Speed Brewery, the Mexican restaurant and Hansen's (ice cream). Absolutely a great time. Chad did an outstanding job as banquet emcee with only 3 or 4 days notice (both Jim Ross and JJ Dillon couldn't get to the event).
Dan Gable Museum went thru a $2 million renovation and looks spectacular. New executive director Jim Miller is going to do a top notch job. Thunderbolt Patterson is awesome. Got to spend some time talking to Beth Copeland (Beth Phoenix) about her time in Buffalo. She's a genuinely wonderful person. Hanging with the Impact Pro Wrestling crew is always memorable...even when you can't always remember what happened. John Arezzi did a fantastic induction of Bruno Sammartino into the HOF.

Only bad thing about the weekend was only one trip each to Single Speed Brewery, the Mexican restaurant and Hansen's (ice cream). I didn't get to the actual brewery but I did get to have Single Speed beer, as they served their brews at some of the different bars we visited. I missed out on Hansen's but did get to enjoy a steak quesadilla at the Mexican restaurant. Tim and I had a good breakfast on Friday morning at Newton's, a few blocks from the hotel. I had an awesome breakfast pizza, which ended up being a snack for me throughout that day.

I saw Beth Phoenix made the following comments about being part of the 2019 Tragos/Thesz Hall of fame inductions:
"Yeah, it’s — the history, the list of names that has come before me is absolutely unbelievable. It’s the trailblazers of the entire industry. For me, it’s really important because I feel like we’re starting this conversation about advocating for women in sports, particularly in wrestling. I was a young woman who wanted to become an amateur wrestler in the beginning. I struggled with that, there wasn’t opportunities for ladies that wanted to do that, so I had to wrestle on the boys team which is awkward, it’s hard. It’s hard for the boys too. There’s a lot of tension involved in that which took away from the competition. Me being a part of this induction this weekend, I hope we can open up a little more conversation. And the Dan Gable museum has done a beautiful job of that, being inclusive and supporting growth."
