Before anyone gets excited, this is NOT an announcement for a Pro Wrestling Guerrilla set. Rather, the idea has been kicked around on and off for a while now. It always seemed to me that many of the PWG talents already appeared in other sets (Evolve, CWFH, etc.).
I confess, I know very little of PWG. However, if a set was to be released, who would likely be in it and, if they are a redux of another wrestler already in the game, how would a PWG grappler differ from his or her alter ego in another set?
Just an intellectual exercise, and hopefully one which will educate me about PWG.
Go!

The biggest problem that a PWG set (from what I've heard it is not going to happen barring changing in ownership) is that it would be mostly a redux of already signed wrestlers. Still, it's an interesting thought. Jonah Rock is one name who would be interesting.

I’m just curious what it might look like, especially based on input from guys who follow it closely. Maybe a legacy card for Super Dragon?

I'm pretty sure that's a never. Well, sure. That's why we're talking in hypotheticals. Like, what would differentiate a PWG set from a collection of Evolve, ROH, and CWFH cards, in a perfect world. As I said, I don't follow PWG at all. I'd be interested in hearing what some of the diehard fans would love to see in a set, or barring that, how they'd make a set of "franchise" PWG talent using the existing cards.

If Filsinger Games could get a licensing agreement with PWG, this would definitely be one of the best times to do a PWG set. Unlike in the past when the majority of wrestlers on every PWG show were also in fed such as Ring of Honor and EVOLVE and would thus be repeats with altered stats for cards, PWG currently uses many wrestlers who are not regulars in other feds that have licensing agreements with Filsinger Games so it would be easy to release a full set of cards of new wrestlers. For example, in terms of numbers, BOLA earlier this month included 16 wrestlers who are not in the game (although a number of them are signed.) In addition to being all or mostly new wrestlers, a PWG set would likely have many international names as PWG brings in alot of talent from places such as Europe (for example 6 of the 8 wrestlers in this year's Best of UK set signed to be in the game at PWG shows,) the South Pacific, and Mexico. And a number of these international names are regulars on PWG shows. There are many great Indy names who appeared on recent PWG shows signed to the game who do not have cards yet.. For me a PWG set would be a dream come true.

I'd love to see Vegas take on a PWG set for sure.

I haven't followed PWG SUPER closely recently so I can't speak to it too well but a PWG Legends type set could also be a very interesting (theoretical) idea. We already have Excalibur but it would be pretty amazing to get some guys like Super Dragon, B-Boy, Human Tornado, early Joey Ryan, masked Scorpio Sky, Scott Lost, Chris Bosh, Babi Slymm, etc. At one time I owned all of the PWG DVDs from the first few years (except the first 2-3 shows as those were SUPER hard to get.

WALTER wouldn't need an update. His EVOLVE card is fine.
