SECW WRESTLING: CARD VI (Houston County Farm Centre, Dothan AL)
It’s a huge night tonight back in Dothan as Heavyweight Champion Jimmy Snuka (w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) puts his title on the line against ‘Dr Death’ Steve Williams! There will be no duds tonight, that’s for sure!1. The action starts fast and furious as the popular ‘Boogie Woogie Man’ Jimmy Valiant takes on the cocky Rock Riddle. In a surprisingly competitive match, Riddle gives as good as he gets, even locking in a figure-four leg lock before Valiant draws on the strength of the crowd and rallies- scoring the pinfall with the Boogie Woogie Elbow.
Winner: ‘Boogie Woogie Man’ Jimmy Valiant
The volatile Sheepherders are out next and cut a hot promo, claiming to be the wildest tag team in the United States right now. They don’t have a match tonight however but are here to challenge tag Team Champions, the Heavenly Bodies (Chris Candido & Dr Tom Prichard) who have a tricky non-title match up next.
2. Tricky it does prove to be as Candido and Prichard are frustrated by PG-13 (Wolfie-D & JC Ice) whose unorthodox tactics infuriate the Bodies from start to finish. Manager Tammy Sytch cuts a terrified figure at ringside, as the Sheepherders get too close for comfort on more than one occasion. Chris Cadido hits the Blonde Bomb on Ice, but the ref is slow to count the pin as Luke & Butch cause chaos on the ring apron. Candido goes to confront the invaders but is smashed from behind by a hubcap wielding Wolfie D, who dumps Ice on top of Candido for the pin. Lucky this one was a non-title match…
Winners: PG-13
3. Tully Blanchard has had a rocky time of it in South Eastern and tonight he fares no better against the fiery Tracy Smothers. The rebel grappler hits a sweet cross body followed by a jaw-jacker to score the upset victory over Blanchard, who seems lost in singles competition. Perhaps he needs a tag partner?
Winner: Tracy Smothers
4. Two guys who have been at logger heads in recent weeks meet in the next encounter. The sneaky Grappler has certainly got the better of Barry Windham and has even put him on the shelf for a couple of weeks, but the tall Texan is back and totally fired up tonight! The Grappler knows every trick in the book and isn’t afraid to use them, but despite scoring a near pin fall with a sneaky roll up, good conquers evil at the twenty-minute mark when a Sweetwater Lariant gives Windham a huge victory. After the match, Windham is joined in the ring by some kids from the crowd, who join him in an impromptu square dance.
Winner: Barry Windham
5. The crowd are totally hot as ‘Dr Death’ Steve Williams stomps confidently to the ring. The crowd are firmly on his side and this is shown further as brutal, savage champ Jimmy Snuka makes his way slowly to ringside, flanked by his flamboyant manager, Sir Oliver Humperdink. Snuka and Williams stalk each other but the wild Snuka seems reluctant to lock up with the powerful Williams. The pair exchange clubbing blows and Snuka downs Williams with a flurry of chops and headbutts. Williams retaliates and clubbers away at the muscled Fijian. It’s a war in there and the crowd are lapping it up! Snuka misses a diving headbutt and Williams fluffs shoulder tackle, flying instead into the exposed turnbuckle. Humperdink cheers on his charge as Snuka scales the top to deliver a mighty splash, but Williams moves just before impact and the champ is down! Williams crashes Snuka with a powerslam and sets up for the running lariat but Humperdink storms the ring and cracks his cane across William’s back. The cane shatters as the ref calls for the bell. Williams drops to his knees but is still swinging. Terrified, Humperdink hot foots it back to the dressing room as a distracted and groggy Williams is floored with a low blow from Snuka. The crowd jeer at such a messy ending. Snuka keeps the strap but surely Williams will demand a rematch?
Winner: ‘Dr Death’ Steve Williams (Via DQ- Snuka retains title.)
