LOCAL TRY OUT WINNERS

Leslie Thatcher - Former high school sports standout, who loved amateur wrestling in school. He has high hopes of catching on as a professional.

William Dundee - Immigrated from Scotland at 16 years old and joined the circus as a trapeze artist. Agile man, who is no stranger to traveling troupes. He has a familiarity with pro wrestling from traveling the country on the circus circuit.

Robert Armstrong - Marine Corps.veteran and current firefighter, Armstrong is strong as an ox. His son, Bradley, competed with the troupe when it traveled through Tulsa and New Orleans, and now the elder Armstrong wants to try his hand.

Al Costello & Roy Heffernan - Austrailian immigrants who came to Memphis to work in the lumber yards. Costello was is an amateur boxer, while Heffernan is an amateur body builder. The chemistry between the two is outstanding and with their combined skills they make themselves a very tough team to beat.

Tracy Smothers & Thomas Rich - Smothers and Rich have made their living selling mules, but thought they could make more money by wrestling. They don’t have much experience, but show some promise with their athletic ability.

Stanley Lane & Thomas Prichard - Cotton sellers and the ‘Sons’ in LP and Sons Cotton Sellers. Both men are always interested in trying new outside interests and felt pro wrestling would provide some dividends.

Just got caught up on all.

Great to see John Abraham Lincoln retain the title in what must have been a serious match to run.

Really liking the father and daughter "Monroe's".

I'm a big fan of little original bios to not only introduce them but to help set their tone & scene.

And you are bringing in some interesting roster adds too.

Bummer Matthew Cross lost but it sounded like one hell of a bout and he at least went down swinging.

Rockin stuff!

Epstien: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to America’s Finest Pro Wrestling. We are very excited to be with you today. You will see two big title defenses as the new additions to this troupe will have their opportunity to shine. Some of your favorites, the Rag Time Express will challenge Maurice and Paul Vachon to become America’s Finest Tag Team. Then the Pride of America, John Abraham Lincoln will once again try to fend off the Olympian, Robert Roop. Of course, a few of your friends will be in action as well. We will start things off here today with a rare in ring performance from our fine medical staff.

Dr. Jacob Omen & Nurse Britt Baker vs. ‘Big’ Sue Jackson & Heidi The Riveter
Baker and Heidi started out the match and Baker came out quickly, gaining an early near fall with a flying body press. Baker tagged Omen, who maintained the advantage and attempted to pin Heidi following a body slam. Jackson came into the ring to break up the pin attempt as Baker entered the ring as well. The referee was distracted by Baker and Jackson dropped an elbow on Omen. Jackson dragged Heidi on top of Omen in time for the ref to turn around and start his count, but Omen kicked out. The action continued with both teams executing multiple tags. Baker made Heidi submit to AMERICA’S FINEST STRETCH.

Matthew Cross vs. Gregory Iron
Cross came into this match looking to get back on the right track and start his climb back into contention to be the Pride of America. Iron put up a heck of a fight, but Cross was just too much. Cross made Iron submit to the BOW AND ARROW. Cross refused to release the hold and as Iron screamed out in pain, ‘Ox’ Baker Monroe ran to the ring. Cross quickly released the hold and exited the ring, but the damage was done. Monroe assited an injured Iron to the dressing room.

The French Connection (Robert Mailett & Maurice Tillet) vs. Stanley Lane & Thomas Prichard
The power of the Frenchmen was on display as they dominated their opponents. Lane and Thomas caught a break when the action spilled out of the ring then gained a near fall after the ROCKET LAUNCHER. The action spilled out of the ring once again, but Prichard grabbed a wooden chair and smashed it over the back of Tillet. The referee quickly disqualified Prichard.

Jeff King vs. Marione Fontaine
These two veterans wasted no time in locking up. It was a classic back and forth match and King came away with the victory via the BEAR HUG.

The Jeepers (Clean & Jerk) vs. Tracy Smothers & Thomas Rich
Smothers and Rich surprised the crowd, looking like a veteran team with quick tags and keeping their opponents off balance. The Jeepers recovered and proved to be the better team as Jerk made Smothers submit to the JEEPER SQUEEZE.

Robert Armstrong vs. Leslie Thatcher
After a brief back and forth battle Armstrong beat Thatcher with a JAWJACKER.

Isaias Velasquez & Craig Mitchel vs. Al Costello & Roy Heffernan
Velasquez was a one man wrecking crew as he took out Costello and Heffernan all on his own. Velasquez pinned Costello after three HAMMERS OF DAWN.

Shane Douglas vs. William Dundee
Douglas was very excited to join the troupe and was eager to show Promoter Marco Epstein didn’t make a mistake. Douglas got a little overzealous early and missed a move from the top turnbuckle. Dundee had things going his way, but Douglas countered a sunset flip and rolled Dundee up for the pin.

AMERICA’S FINEST TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
Rag Time Express (Richard Morton & Robert Gibson) vs. America’s Finest Tag Team Maurice & Paul Vachon
The crowd was thoroughly behind the Rag Time Express. Rag Time kept the champs off balance with their speed and agility as well as multiple quick tags. The Vachons seemed to be out of their element and couldn’t catch up to the challengers. Morton pinned Paul to win the titles.

(The crowd exploded when the Rag Times won the match. Morton and Gibson celebrated in the ring as Promoter Marco Epstein presented them with the title belts and shook their hands.)

PRIDE OF AMERICA TITLE MATCH
Robert Roop vs. Pride of America John Abraham Lincoln
The fans were still electric as this match started, but Roop quickly put a stop to that. Lincoln offered a handshake, which Roop accepted, but used it to transition into a full nelson then a backbreaker. The match had barely begun when Roop delivered a SHOULDER BREAKER and made the pin to win the title.

(Shane Douglas was in the ring in a hurry and got in the face of Roop. Lincoln recovered and pulled an angry Douglas away as Epstein entered the ring. Epstein presented the title belt to a smug Roop and congratulated him on his victory.)

Epstein: I want to thank you for coming out today. Unfortunately it’s time for us to move down the road. We’re headed to Knoxville, so if you like what you saw make the trip with us. Better yet, tell a friend and bring them too. We hope to see you again.
