All in all, the match went pretty good. I think it needs some kind of hybrid triple threat table adapted just for the situations in this match. It just seemed that some of the wrestlers got lost in the background. Rolling on the double team chart got repetitive because there were so many double teams that occured.
The token/surrender rule seemed a bit complex at first run through. I'm still not sure that I like how it works out; I understand why it is there, but I'm not sure that I like it yet. I will give it a little more thought to see what I would suggest.
I'm also not sure I like the unlimited pin saves; it really had an impact on the outcome of the match for me. Not that I would change the match result, I love the outcome because it only feeds the feud that is going on between the Dark Crusade & the Divine Gathering.
The War Games Chart certainly captured every element that I can remember happening in any of the matches that I watched. Great job on that.
The only other input I have right now is that I would reconsider using the deathjump chart. About halfway through I started using it as an option instead of going to the chart all the time.
I hope this initial feedback is useful. Let me know if I need to clarify anything.
THREAD RESURRECTION, GO!
Anyway. Not sure if you'll catch this, but on to the months overdue feedback of the feedback:
As far as people being lost in the shuffle, I definitely noticed that. But, the real matches tended to leave people just punching/grappling with each other in the background. Only when a specific spot took place would specific people step into the 'spotlight', so to speak. For me, this portion of the system satisfies. If it does not work for you, feel free to take a stab at something new! There are plenty of times when you've taken an idea I postulated and made it better!
Rolling on the double-team chart too often is a bit of a problem, though. It definitely happens too often. Possible changes I could see would be rolling on the double-team chart only if the 'choice' is of a certain range of letters. Also, I could see only wrestlers with double-team maneuvers being allowed to roll on the chart in place of those maneuvers.
The fatigue token rules satisfy and did not seem too complicated to me, but aren't quickly applied either. Of course, the usual method for pins/submissions/cage ratings could be used. Or maybe a blanket number of tokens until possibility of surrender could be instituted.
Unlimited pin saves. The obvious change here would be to limit the pin saves to a specific number. 5 is my first guess at a good number for that. Or maybe one pin save for every member of a team. One possible solution to this particular problem and the problem of people disappearing into the background is to make wrestlers eligible for surrender unable to make pin saves. So, the opposing team will have to damage everyone on the other team to limit pinsaves, but your team will run out of pinsaves in a way effected by the match itself.
Rolling on the cage chart too often is a bit of a problem as well. In the real matches, most offense consisted of punching/kicking and things featured on the chart. This isn't too fun in COTG, though. For WarGames, I'm also hesitant to use the deathjump chart. For a Caged Battlefield match, the roof of the cage can be considered high enough to facilitate such things, but the WarGames cage was too low to allow much jumping. Any jumping that was accomplished is on the chart. Still, it is a problem. A possible solution to both this and rolling on the double team chart too much is to roll on the WarGames chart instead of out of the ring, and the Double Team Chart for deathjump.
Thanks for the feedback, Eliath! Let me know if you have investigated any of these issues further. And anyone who may want to use these rules are welcome to give all of the above suggestions a go. Any feedback is always welcome!
Thanks!
